VASS - Bobby A. Campbell, 58, died Sunday, May 17, 1998, in Waynesville.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at House of the Lord. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County and the owner of Precision Car Wash Company of Vass.

Surviving are wife, Phyllis McCoy Campbell; daughter, Donna Everett of Lakeview; sons, Danny Campbell of Lakeview, Darrell Campbell of Vass; parents, Albert and Laura Ring Campbell; sisters, Anne Blanchard, Bonnie Thomas, both of Sanford; eight grandchildren.

The family will be at Fry-Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 7-9 p.m. Monday.

Constance B. McDowell

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Constance Adele Boyer McDowell, 57, of Asheboro, died Saturday, May 16, 1998, at Memorial Medical Center, Savannah, Ga.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Wednesday at Fox and Weeks Funeral Home, Islands Chapel, Savannah, Ga.

She was a native of Fresno, Calif., former owner and operator of Sea-Land Communications in Savannah and was presently employed with the Bill Brown Company in Tucker, Ga.

Surviving are sons, Christopher Westall of Austin, Texas, David Westall, Eric Westall, both of Houston, Texas; stepdaughters, Michelle Hoeflinger of Doraville, Ga., Colleen Grier of Savannah; brother, Crayton Boyer of Fresno, Calif.

The family will be at the funeral home following the service, until 8 p.m.

Fred W. Ball
Fred Welby Ball, 76, of 498 Spencer Meadow Road, Asheboro, died Monday, May 18, 1998, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Sawyersville Wesleyan Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Darrell Rabon and the Rev. Charles Stout officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Surry County, retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation after which he worked at Randolph Community College.

Surviving are wife, Lucinda Hoover Ball of the home; daughters, Nancy B. Hogan of Denton, Judy B. Trotter of Asheboro; son, Freddy Ray Ball of Denton; sister, Della Mae Hoover of Asheboro; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home.

Arley James Rich, 71, of 1450 Winslow Ave., Asheboro, died Monday, May 18, 1998, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Terry Kersey officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park

He was a native of Randolph County, retired from Dan Thomas Pontiac, was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and was a member of the VFW and the D.A.V.

Surviving are wife, Wanda Beane Rich of the home; daughters, Delma Beckler of Norwood, Wanda Hill of Trinity, Peggy Kearns of Denton, Patricia Rich of Sophia, Barbara Rich of Randleman; stepdaughters, Cheryl Blackwelder of Augusta, Ga., Tina Brady of Sidney, Ohio; stepsons, Jim Henson of Randleman, Philip Henson, Eddie McLain, both of Asheboro; sisters, Martha Pierce, Edith Hunt, both of Asheboro; six grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

Edward Frank Kiessler, 50, of 1445 Twin Creek Road, Asheboro, died Monday, May 18, 1998, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Father Joseph Mack, Dr. John. S. Rogers and the Rev. Jay Hobbs officiating.

He was a native of Hempstead, N.Y., attended Wake Forest University, was a former district manager of Terminix, a former employee with the Sir Robert Motel, a past member of the Asheboro Jaycees and was a member of Cross Road Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Nancy Lou Gay Kiessler of the home; daughter, Jennifer Lee Kiessler of the home; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kiessler of Orangeburg, S.C.; brothers, Thomas Kiessler of Atlanta, Ga., Dr. Peter Kiessler of Clemson, S.C., Joseph Kiessler Jr. of Caldwell, N.J.

She was a native of Randolph County, retired from Hadley-Peoples Manufacturing Co. and was a member of the Adults Sunday School class at her church.

Surviving are daughters, Shirley Hayes of Bear Creek, Linda Hodgin of Liberty, Nancy Banks of Siler City, Emma Green of Randleman; son, Jim Dorrity of Liberty; half brother, Leroy Poole of Staley; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Ricky Hodgin, 7859 County Line Road, Liberty.

DENTON - Samuel Edwin Jeffries, of 11831 Coachman's Way, Raleigh, died Sunday, May 17, 1998, at his home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Tom's Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will be at Coachman's Trail Clubhouse, Coachman's Trail Subdivision, 11412 Coachman's Way, Raleigh, 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, following the service Thursday.

James W. Russell

STAR - James Walton Russell, 63, of 140 E. Bank St., died Monday, May 18, 1998, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

A graveside service with military rites will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Star United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Jerry Cribbs officiating.

He was a native of Montgomery County, retired after 30 years with the U.S. Air Force and was a member of VFW Post 9881.

Surviving are son, William Russell of the home; sisters, Jennie Lee Davis, Jane Russell Hancock, both of Star; stepdaughters, Maria Sarmiento of Houston, Texas, Sophia Sarmiento of Dallas, Texas.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, two hours prior to the service.

Essie O. Cagle
Essie Owens Cagle, 84, of Asheboro, died Tuesday, May 19, 1998, at Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation, Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro. Burial will be in Shady Grove Christian Church Cemetery, Star.

She was a native of Montgomery County, the widow of Elijah Cagle, a member of Fayetteville Street Baptist Church and was retired from B.B. Walker Co.

Surviving are son, Gaston Cagle of Asheboro; sister, Evelyn Briles of Franklinville; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Samuel E. Jeffries

DENTON - Samuel Edwin Jeffries, 66, of 11831 Coachman's Way, Raleigh, died Sunday, May 17, 1998, at his home.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Tom's Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Denton.

He was a native of Star, attended Wiley Elementary, Broughton High School and graduated from Morson High School and N.C. State University. He founded Jeffries and Associates in 1971.

Surviving are wife, Nancy Crouse Jeffries of the home; son, Samuel E. Jeffries Jr. of Greensboro; daughter, Suzanne J. Jones of Wilson; sister, Nell Jeffries O'Brien of Chase City, Va.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, following the service Thursday.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bear Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. Bob Wachs officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County, employed by Sprint Telephone, an Army veteran, and a member of Brush Creek Baptist Church and the Adult Men's Sunday School class.

Surviving are son, Andrew B. Elmore of Siler City; mother, Johnsie Brooks Elmore of Bear Creek; brother, Billy Elmore of Siler City; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home 7-9 p.m. Monday and other times at the home of Joyce Elmore, 908 Bonlee-Carbonton Road, Bear Creek.

TROY - Mae Lassiter Harvell, 79, of 497 Thayer Road, died Sunday, May 24, 1998, at the Angel Medical Center in Franklin.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Ophir United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Glenn Hancock officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County and a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, Ottis Harvell of the home; daughter, Joyce Davis of Spartanburg, S.C.; son, Michael Harvell of Greenville, S.C.; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home 7-9 p.m. Monday.

She was a native of Randolph County, a homemaker and a Jehovah's Witness in the Seagrove congregation.

She was a native of Randolph County, a retired employee of Asheboro City Schools cafeteria staff, was a church treasurer and communion steward and a member of Farmer Community Choir.

Surviving are son, Eugene W. Cross Sr. of Asheboro; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at C.C. Hodges Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-8 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home of her son.
