FRANKLINVILLE - Earl Maness, 84, of 130 E. Bend St., died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church of Franklinville, where he was a member, with the Rev. Steve Cox and the Rev. Dan Wood officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, retired from Stedman Mfg. and a World War II U.S. Air Force veteran.

Surviving are wife, Vera Hinson Maness of the home; sons, William Hoyt "Bud" Maness of Franklinville, Charles Earl Maness of Ramseur, Ray Maness of Great Falls, Va.; daughters, Martha Chapman Gross of Darlington, S.C., Barbara Jean Brady of Bennett; sisters, Jean Maness of Coleridge, Ruby Jennings of Cedar Falls; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home.

William R. Larzelere
LIBERTY - William Reese Larzelere Jr., 60, of 414 Frazier St., died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Chatham Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, with the Rev. Cecil Tucker officiating.

He was a native of Philadelphia, Pa., and a Vietnam War veteran.

Surviving are wife, Lillian Wright Larzelere of the home; daughters, Shanna Jaynes and Amanda Cantrell, both of Liberty; son, Homer Cantrell of Liberty; brothers, Harold Larzelere of Texas, Jim Larzelere of North Carolina; three grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Saturday.

Ethel S. Rouse
ROBBINS - Ethel Sanders Rouse, 72, of 160 Front St., died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Crossroads Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Mike Holyfield officiating. Burial will be in the Wallace Family Cemetery near Robbins.

She was a native of Chatham County and retired from Ithaca Inc.

Surviving are sons, Larry Sheffield of Troy, Terry Rouse of Robbins, Matthew Mooney of Pinehurst; daughters, Linda Brannon of Cassatt, S.C., Sue Sheffield of Cameron, Pricilla Haislip and Jerry Strickland, both of Liberty; brother, the Rev. Giles Saunders of Seagrove; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great- grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home.

Roy L. Davis
EAGLE SPRINGS - Roy Lane Davis, 42, of 9875 N.C. 705, died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, with the Rev. Clay Davis officiating. Burial will be in Dover Baptist Church Cemetery, Seagrove.

He was a native of Randolph County.

Surviving are mother, Angelee Pinkerton of Eagle Springs; sisters, Paulette Cockman and Betty Jane Dennis, both of Robbins; brothers, Junior F. Davis of Biscoe, Johnny R. Davis of Robbins.

Paul W. Cox
ASHEBORO - Paul Winford Cox, 74, of 237 Underwood St., Asheboro, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Balfour Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Dr. John C. Noble officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Chatham County, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, retired as District Plant Manager of Central Telephone Company, a member of Asheboro Lions Club and an amateur radio operator.

Surviving are wife, Marie Routh Cox of Asheboro; son, Chip Cox of Asheboro; daughter, Connie C. Norris of Asheboro; brothers, David Cox and Grady Cox, both of Asheboro, Clifford Cox of Columbia, S.C.; sisters, Nina Dickens of Asheboro, Ina Staley of Cary; one granddaughter.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6:30-9 p.m. Sunday.

Teresa G. Harris
ASHEBORO - Teresa Gayle Harris, 51, of 218 Edna St., Asheboro, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at her home.

There is no service planned at this time.

She was a native of Anson County, a 1972 graduate of Pfeiffer University and employed with Unilever-Best Foods.

Surviving are husband, Doug Oglesby of Asheboro; daughter, Grey Parker of Raleigh; stepdaughter, Michelle Key of Seagrove; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bedford Harris of Lilesville.

Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn S. Smith
ASHEBORO - Evelyn Stout Smith, 73, of 3988 Osborne Mill Road, Asheboro, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at her home.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Bruce McLanahan officiating.

She was a native of Yancy County, the widow of Ray T. Stout, retired from Vestal Ford Motor Company and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church.

Surviving are husband, J. Paul Smith of the home; sons, Mike Stout of Ramseur, Vic Stout of Asheboro; brother, Otis Ledford of Sneads Ferry; four grandchildren.

The family will be in the church fellowship hall following the service.

Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, is in charge of arrangements.

SEAGROVE - Benjamin Carl Maness, 82, of 8090 Riverside Road, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Riverside Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Harold Baker officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors.

He was a native of Randolph County, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a member of Robbins VFW Post #9245, a member of the Men's Sunday School Class at his church and retired from Milliken Co. in Robbins.

Surviving are wife, Valleen Moore Maness of the home; sons, Dale Maness and Deane Maness, both of Asheboro, Daniel Maness of Seagrove; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

J. Warren Brady
ROBBINS - James Warren Brady, 80, of 601 Front St., died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, in Pinelake Health & Rehabilitation Center, Carthage.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins. Burial will be in Pine Rest Cemetery.

He was a native of Highfalls, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, and a recipient of the Victory Medal, two Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart.

Surviving are wife, Nora Jane Britt Brady of the home; daughter, Sandra B. Williams of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sister, Mary Carol True of Greensboro; brothers, Edward Brady of Greensboro, Charlie Brady of Trinity, Marvin Brady of Bear Creek, Lindy Brady and Earlie Brady, both of Robbins.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

Paul Johnson
THOMASVILLE - Paul Johnson, 82, of 302 Shuler Circle, Piedmont Retirement Center, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at Piedmont Center Health Care Unit.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Memorial United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with Dr. Kyles Y. Wallace, the Rev. Peggy Finch, the Rev. Glenn Kinken III and the Rev. Wilbur A. Jarrett officiating. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

He was a native of Thomasville, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, retired from Carolina Auto Supply Company, a member of the Austin Elliott Bible Class and the Goodtimes Club at his church and a member and former president of Fair Grove Lions Club.

Surviving are wife, Ailene Kirkman Johnson of the home; sisters, Mary J. Davis of High Point, Sallie J. Hulak of Burgaw.

The family will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

John M. Kennedy
EAGLE SPRINGS - John Mack Kennedy, 89, of Pinelake Health Care in Carthage, formerly of Kennedy Road, Eagle Springs, died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Pinelake Health Care, Carthage.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bensalem Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Dawes Graybeal and the Rev. Tom Williams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County, a farmer and former owner of M & M Grocery in Eagle Springs and a deacon at his church.

Surviving are wife, Myrtie Brown Kennedy of Carthage; daughters, Peggy K. Rankin of Hamlet, Linda K. Williams of Greensboro; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, Candor, 6:30-8 p.m. Sunday and following the service at the church.

Geneva H. Goad
MOUNT AIRY - Geneva Alice Hiatt Goad, 77, of 139 Laurel Lane, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at her home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where she was a member. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery.

She was a native of Surry County and co-owner and operator of Ray's Starlight Restaurant for 47 years.

Surviving are husband, Ray Goad of the home; daughter, Susan Massey of Mount Airy; son, Raymond Goad Jr. of Seattle, Wash.; sister, Elfrey H. Jackson of Mount Airy; brothers, Leonard Hiatt of Asheboro, Colin Hiatt of Mount Airy; six grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

Moody Funeral Home, Mount Airy, is in charge of arrangements.

ALBEMARLE - Margaret Galyon Preston, 81, of 810 Austin St., died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at her home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Dunn's Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Steve Jackson, the Rev. Fred Miller and the Rev. Flynn Richardson officiating. Burial will be in Norwood Cemetery.

She was a native of Harriman, Tenn., the widow of both Ray Frix and Nell Preston, a textile worker with Russell Harvell Hosiery Mill in Mt. Gilead, a pianist at Wadeville Baptist Church, a hostess with the Lion's Club and a homemaker.

Surviving are son, Danny Zimmerman of Salisbury; daughter, Nancy Richardson of Albemarle; brother, Larry Galyon of Winter Haven, Fla.; sisters, Dottie Bea Pickler of Randleman, Sue Saunders of Bradenton, Fla., Peggy Dewhurst of Newton; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at Stanly Funeral Home, Albemarle, 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

Berlen Brown
ASHEBORO - Berlen Brown, 78, of 717 Tucker St., Asheboro, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. John Butler officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvery Cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County, a retired employee of Union Carbide and a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are daughters, Kay B. Tyson and Veronica B. McMasters, both of Asheboro; sons, Billy Brown and Bobby Brown, both of Asheboro; sister, Margaret B. Bostic of Asheboro; one grandchild; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at C.C. Hodges Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-8 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

RANDLEMAN - Henry Clay Tolley II, 34, formerly of Horsepen, Va., died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Peery & St. Clair Funeral Home, Tazewell, Va., with the Rev. Dennis Lambert officiating, Burial will be in Brewsterdale Church Cemetery, Brewsterdale, W.Va.

He was a native of Roanoke, Va.

Surviving are wife, Frankie Collins Tolley; daughters, Erica Tolley of Roanoke, Va., Angie Tolley of Randleman; son, Dustin Tolley of Randleman; parents, Clay and Wilma Maxine Asbury Tolley of Sophia; sisters, Pamela R. Bowman and Katrina Otto, both of Horsepen, Va.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-9 p.m. Monday.

Mildred G. Hayworth
HIGH POINT - Mildred Lucille Green Hayworth, 85, of 4162 Wallburg-High Point Road, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, in High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Jacqueline Elliott officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Davidson County, the widow of Clayton Levi Hayworth, a member of the Women's Sunday School class at her church and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughter, Evelyn Atkinson of the home; son, Leon Hayworth of High Point; sisters, Lela Hilton of High Point, Edith Davis of Sophia, Margaret Stewart of Winston-Salem; brother, Don Green of High Point; three grandchildren; two great-grandsons.

The family will be at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Craig Atkinson 346 Chester Drive.

LIBERTY - Colleen Lineberry Whitley, 89, of 132 Randolph St., died Saturday, Feb. 9, 2002, at Guilford Health Care Center.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Fairview Cemetery, with the Rev. Steve Johnson and the Rev. Bill Bigham officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County, a member of First United Methodist Church and a retired employee of Siler City Manufacturing.

Surviving are daughter, Sue L. Fogleman of Liberty; son, Billy Joe Lineberry of Liberty; stepsons, Mike Whitley of Jefferson City, Tenn., Martin Whitley of Raleigh; sisters, Mary Lee Scotten of Staley, Annie Dare Lineberry of Coleridge; brothers, R.C. Holder and W.P. "Buck" Holder, both of Liberty; two grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 6-8 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of the daughter, 307 E. Butler Ave., Liberty.

WEST END - Don E. Thomas, 64, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Bill Monroe and the Rev. Tom Herndon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County, the founder of Don Thomas Trucking, a charter member of the Seven Lakes Volunteer Fire Department and currently serving as fire chief, and a deacon at his church.

Surviving are wife, Margaret Monroe Thomas; sons, Eddie Thomas and Kenneth Thomas, both of West End; stepson Bill Stewart of Holly Springs; stepdaughters Sheila Capucille, Teresa Carraway, Jessica Brueggeman, all of Raleigh; nine grandchildren.
