Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville. Burial will be in Pierce Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, last employed with Piedmont Retirement Home and was of the Primitive Baptist faith.

Surviving are mother, Eutha Parrish Small of the home; sister, Betty Isley of Thomasville.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

Darin Guevara
DENTON - Darin Wayne Guevara, 21, of 317 Hunters Chase, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem, from injuries received in an automobile accident on Jan. 24 in Davidson County.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Holly Grove Lutheran Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. C. Pierson Shaw Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of St. Clair County, Ill., a 1998 graduate of South Davidson High School where he played football and baseball, an employee of UPS and former employee of Carolina House in Lexington.

Surviving are parents, Victor L. and Patricia "Pat" Snider Guevara of the home; brothers, Victor L. Guevara II of San Antonio, Texas, Brandon Guevara of the home; stepbrothers, Jacob Guevara and Jason Guevara, both of San Antonio, Texas; grandparents, the Rev. Clayton and Alreta Hulin of Lexington, Victor R. and Helen Guevara of San Antonio, Texas.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

BISCOE - Mary Hogan Brooks, 101, of 401 Lambert Road, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Dover Baptist Church Cemetery, Seagrove, with the Rev. Michael Holyfield officiating.

She was a native of Moore County and a homemaker.

Surviving are son, C.S. Brooks of Biscoe; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

MT. GILEAD - William Anthony "Billy Van" Venancio, 66, of 260 Springwood Drive, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Annunciation Catholic Church, Albemarle, where he was a member, with Father Patrick Shelton, O.S.B., and the Rev. Jim Harris officiating. Burial will be in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, Mt. Gilead.

He was a native of Newport, R.I., a master cabinet maker, country music singer and a U.S. Air Force veteran.

Surviving are wife, Phyllis Anne Vilander Venancio of the home; daughter, Robin Staley of Liberty; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Edwards Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Rev. Raeford W. Cooke
TROY- Rev. Raeford W. Cooke, 68, of 1737 N.C. 109 North, died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tabernacle Baptist Church, with the Rev. Terrell Watts officiating. Burial will be in Southside Cemetery.

He was a native of Surry County, a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict and interim pastor at Christ Baptist Church, Midland.

Surviving are wife, Patricia Gibson Cooke of the home; son, Michael Cooke of Greensboro; daughter, Kathy C. Collingwood of Greensboro; sister, Janice C. Watts of Oakboro; four grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

ROBBINS - Myrtle Sasser Ritter, 77, of Pinehurst Nursing Center, died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2002, at the center.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bensalem Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Eagle Springs, with the Rev. Dawes Graybeal officiating.

She was a native of Richmond County, the widow of Eli Ritter and a homemaker.

PITTS, Ga. - Margaret S. Lawson, 76, of 166 S. Sixth St., died Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at her home.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Frazier-Holt Funeral Home, Rochelle, Ga., with the Rev. Jack Dowdy officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Savannah, Ga.

She was a native of Cook County, the widow of Dr. Samuel J. Lawson Jr., a retired teacher with the Wilcox County School System and a member of Pitts Baptist Church.

Surviving are sons, Samuel J. Lawson III of Pitts, Ga., Stephen Wilder Lawson of Portal, Ga.; daughter, Sally Margaret Barnes of Asheboro; brother, James T. Swymer of Orange, Texas; half sister, Mary S. Jay of Altamont, Tenn.; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Norma S. Bradshaw
RANDLEMAN - Norma Smith Bradshaw, 72, formerly of Randleman, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside service will be 4 p.m. Thursday at Whitehall Evangelical Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Jesse Wallace officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County and retired from Breakers Ind in High Point.

He was a native of Randolph County, the widower of Etta King, a U.S. Navy veteran, a former truck driver with Carolina Container, a former NASCAR driver and attended Glenola Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughter, Cathie Honeycutt of Trinity; stepdaughter, Bonnie York of Lexington; sisters, Mary Lee Morgan, Doris Canter, Carol Hicks, Rachel Hunsucker, all of Archdale, Sara Ann Earnhardt of Emerald Isle; brothers, Keith White of Trinity, Ray L. White, J.V. "Buck" White, Charles White, all of Archdale, Bobby White of Sophia; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

FRANKLINVILLE - William Henry "Bill" Waugh, 63, of 3795 Hardin-Ellison Road, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2002, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Charles L. Rowland and the Rev. Ronald Doub officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Guilford County, co-owner of Waugh Asphalt Inc., a member of Gray's Chapel United Methodist Church, a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and a Coast Guard Reserves veteran.

Surviving are wife, Helen M. Waugh of the home; sons, Robert Wayne Waugh of Denton, William Bradley Waugh, Christopher James Waugh, Jeffrey Michael Waugh, all of Franklinville; brothers, James M. Waugh and Robert T. Waugh, both of Greensboro, John F. Waugh of Climax; sisters, Martha W. Teague of Raleigh, Doris H. Waugh of High Point; seven grandchildren.

She was a children's writer.

Surviving are husband, the Rev. Stephen A. Moore of the home; daughter, Alexia Iris Moore of the home; parents, Marie Lajunen and Leo Lajunen; half-brother, Kai Lajunen of Toronto, Ontario; stepbrothers, Kimmo and Kerry.

She was a native of Mt. Gilead, the widow of William Patterson and a retiree from Collins & Aikman of Troy. She was a graduate of Maaco Beauty School of Cosmetology, Greensboro, a charter member and president of Ladies Auxiliary #358 and a member of the Montgomery County Veteran's Council.

Surviving are son, William Gene Patterson of Durham; daughters, Hallie Mae Love of Baltimore, Md., Andrea P. Marshall of Troy, Loretta F. Patterson of the home; brother, Jessie Bowden of Mt. Gilead; sisters, Myrtle Wright of Morristown, N.J., Evelyn Bowden of Mt. Gilead, Lenora Spencer of Washington, D.C., Ruby Lewis of New Haven, Conn.; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Lexington County, S.C., a deacon and elder at his church, a member of Biscoe Masonic Lodge # 437 AF & AM, the Scottish Rite Bodies, the Good Old Boys and Quails Unlimited, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and operator of the Montgomery Curb Market in Biscoe.

Surviving are wife, Georgia Britt McIver of the home; daughter, Gloria M. Martin of Pineville; sister, Linnie Moseley of Columbia, S.C.; brothers, Grady McIver of Swansea, S.C., Jewel McIver of Jackson, S.C.; two grandchildren.

She was a native of Davidson County, the widow of Roy M. Morris, a homemaker and a retired associate with Morris Supermarket. She was a member of the choir and the Good Times Club at her church, awarded lifetime membership in the United Methodist Women of the church, a member of the Young at Heart Rhythm Band and honored as Denton's first Woman of the Year.

Surviving are son, Roy Lee Morris of Wendell; daughters, Gayle M. Coley of Winston-Salem, Genie M. Russell of Denton; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
