She was a native of Chatham County, the widow of James Franklin McBride and a member of Friendly Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are daughter, Barbara Lowe of Liberty; sisters, Golden Kivett of Siler City, Betty Cox of Coleridge; brothers, Hamuel Kivett of Bennett, Harold Kivett of Siler City; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

LEXINGTON - Kathleen Ford Brookshire, 89, of SunBridge of Lexington, formerly of Salem Street, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2002, at SunBridge.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Piedmont Funeral Home, Lexington, with the Rev. Malcolm Brownlee officiating. Burial will be in Lexington City Cemetery.
She was a native of Davidson County, the widow of Lee W. Brookshire and a homemaker.
Surviving are daughter, Jeannie Morrow of Lexington; sons, James Plott of Asheboro, Tommy Plott and Lee Brookshire Jr., both of Lexington, Jerry Plott of Clemmons; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Surry County and a member of the decorating committee, the flower committee and the Women's #1 Sunday School Class at her church.

She was a native of Chatham County, a retired poultry farmer and a member of Adult Ladies # 2 Class and the choir at her church.
Surviving are husband, W. Clarence Phillips of the home; daughters, Shelby Scott and Joyce McNeill, both of Bennett; sons, Odell Phillips and Earl R. Phillips, both of Bear Creek; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Spoon's Chapel United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Larry W. McEntire officiating.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are maternal grandparents, Gary and Sylvia King of Asheboro and paternal grandmother, Catherine Tysinger of Ramseur; paternal great-grandparents, Clifton and Vera Mae King and maternal great-grandfather, Jonah Wright, all of Asheboro.

She was a native of Stokes County, a homemaker and the widow of Raymond L. Hughes.

He was a native of New Bern, attended Asheboro High School and was employed with Hurley Board plumbing.
Surviving are wife, Georgia Smith Baldwin of the home; daughter, Alisa Mae McCrosky of Thomasville; stepson, Scott Kelly Smith of Tampa, Fla.; sisters, Elaine Morgan of Franklinton, La., Agnes Cook and Angelia Baldwin, both of Sophia; brothers, William H. She was a native of Florence County, S.C., a member of First Baptist Church and was retired from Gregson Manufacturing.
Surviving are daughter, Billie Cooke of Graham; sister, Marie DeRocco of Winthrop, Mass.; brother, Fred Jordan of Nags Head; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

ETHER - James Robert "Bob" Greene, 78, of 144 Frame Shop Road, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Dover Baptist Church in Seagrove, where he was a member, with Dr. Don Davis, the Rev. Lonie Gibson and the Rev. Michael Holyfield officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Montgomery County, a World War II Army veteran and was a retired fixer with Klopman Mills.
Surviving are his wife, Carrie Blackwell Greene of the home; daughters, Linda Lamonds of Star, Cathy Russell of Monroe; brothers, Clyde Greene of Star, Carl Greene of Asheboro; sisters, Odessa Mabe and Carolyn Davis, both of Star, Patricia Johnson of Rural Hall, Evelyn Allred of Norman; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

CLIFFSIDE - John Tinkler, 95, of N.C. 221-A, died Thursday, Feb. 28, 2002, at Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at McKinney-Landreth Funeral Home, Cliffside, with the Rev. Anthony Moore, the Rev. Morris Byers and the Rev. Ben Steele officiating. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mountain View Cemetery in Seneca, S.C.
He was a native of Greenwood County, S.C., a graduate of Erskine College, taught math at Cliffside School and was retired from Cone Mills in Cliffside. He was a World War II Army veteran, a member of the American Legion, Cliffside Masonic Lodge and Cliffside United Methodist Church.
Surviving are wife, Gladys Kelly Tinkler of the home; son, John Bruce Tinkler of Asheboro; one granddaughter.
The family will be at the funeral home 1:30-2:30 p.m. Sunday.

COLUMBIA - Joseph Franklin Wall, 79, died Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2002.
Service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with burial in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Wall is the widower of Nanette Broom Wall. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and the former owner of Joe Wall's Phillips 66 Station on Sumter Highway.
Surviving are brothers, S. Dewey Wall of Graham, E. Wayne Wall of High Point, R. Earl Wall of Asheboro and Edward Wall of Franklinville.
Visitation will be prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

ASHEBORO - Nellie Lee Green Edwards, 84, formerly of Union Church Road, died Feb. 28, 2002, at Mountain Vista Health Park in Denton.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Oakhurst Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Dr. Richard Crider officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
She was a native of Davidson County, a seamstress and previously taught sewing at Randolph Community College. She was the widow of Livingston E. Edwards.
Surviving are daughters, Priscilla McElroy of Lexington, Claudia Sink Griffin of Summerfield, Susan Ledbetter of Midlothian, Va.; sisters, Edith Cable and Doris Miller, both of Wallburg; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; two great stepgrandchildren.
