He was a native of Randolph County, a Vietnam War veteran and formerly employed by Faith Construction Co.
Surviving are sons, Ronnie Long and Bryan Long, both of Asheboro; daughter, Rhonda Brown of Asheboro; brothers, Tim Goodin and Larry Long, both of Asheboro; sisters, Doris Hinshaw of Siler City and Thelma Regan of Burlington; three grandchildren.

FRANKLINVILLE - Shelly Calvin Cook, 84, of 2079 Whites Memorial Church Road, died Saturday, May 30, 1998, at his residence.
Funeral will be 11 a.m. Monday at Whites Memorial Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Pete Lamb and Rev. Jeff Joyce officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Randolph County, retired from Jordan Spinning, a poultry farmer and a carpenter.
Surviving are wife, Cleora Webster Cook; brother, Albert Cook of Franklinville; sister, Ethel Carter of Asheboro.

She was a native of Columbus County, a homemaker and a member of Hickory Mountain Baptist Church.
Surviving are son, Mike Johnson of Pittsboro; brothers, Boyd Barnhill of Evergreen and Dock Barnhill of Chadbourn; sister, Hannie Bullard of Whiteville; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

PUNTA GORDA, Fla. - Ronald Grayson Saunders, 41, died Sunday, May 17, 1998.
Graveside services were held May 22 at Skyway Memorial Gardens. A memorial service was held May 23 at Soul's Harbor Church of God, where he was a member.
Surviving are wife, Amy Saunders; sons, Ronald J. Saunders and Robert Saunders of Bradenton, Fla.; mother, Sue Saunders of Randleman; sister, Patti Michaels of Norcross, Ga.

LIBERTY - Maurine Thompson, 82, of 1849 Fogleman Trail, died Friday, May 29, 1998, at Country Forest Manor in Siler City.

She was a native of Alamance County, retired from Spencer-Love Hosiery in Burlington and was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church.
Surviving are sisters, Dora Johnson and Kathleen Bailey, both of Liberty.

Elsie Robinson Gresham, 82, of Raleigh, formerly of Asheboro, died Saturday, May 30, 1998, at Intergrated Health Services of Raleigh.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, Asheboro, where she was a member, with the Rev. Michael Jordan and Dr. Phillip Shore Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
She was a native of Johnston County and the widow of both Thomas Jefferson Robinson Sr. and Harry Randolph Gresham. She was a member of a Circle and of the Jubilees, a Sunday School teacher and involved with Cub Scouts at her church. She was a member of the Asheboro Junior Women's Club, a charter member of the Randolph Rose Society where she held numerous offices and chairman of the Randolph Rose Show several times. She was a graduate of Rex Hospital School Nursing and was a registered nurse for 52 years, mostly at Randolph Hospital.
Surviving are sons, Bill Robinson of Asheboro, Charlie Robinson of Charlotte; daughters, Kathy Robinson Williams of Raleigh, Betsy Robinson Harris of Chapel Hill; five grandchildren.
The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of son, Bill Robinson, 424 Redding Road.
