Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Antioch Christian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Gerald Ward officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Guilford County, a truck driver and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are wife, Judy Baker Davis of the home; sons, Chris Davis of Greensboro, Aaron Davis of Seagrove; sisters, Trudy Robbins of Burlington, Carolyn Brown of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home of Aaron Davis, 6143 Antioch Church Road, Seagrove.

Peggy K. Mullinax
ASHEBORO - Peggy Virginia King Mullinax, 69, died Friday, March 22, 2002, in Randolph Hospital.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Derita Presbyterian Church in Charlotte.

She was the widow of Thomas E. Mullinax and worked for Cummins Onan Company for 23 years as a supervisor.

Surviving are son, Thomas E. Mullinax Jr. of Asheboro; sisters, Doris King Francis of Davidson, Bobbie Dean Scarboro of Mooresville; four grandchildren.

The family will be at the church immediately following the service.

Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of arrangements.

ASHEBORO - Thursa Elizabeth Hoover, 85, of Brookstone Haven, Randleman, died Friday, March 22, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Grace Baptist Temple, with the Rev. Arnold J. Comer and the Rev. Eddie Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Hoover's Grove Wesleyan Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and a homemaker.

Surviving are son, Larry G. Hoover of Seagrove; sisters, Mary Mildred Hunt and Hazel Ruth Phillips, both of Asheboro; brothers, Johnny Hoover of Asheboro, Nathan "Billy" Hoover of High Point; four grandchildren.

She was a native of Moore County and a retired sewer for a clothing manufacturer.

Surviving are son, Glenn Campbell of Star; sister, Pearl Wilson of Locust; brother, Worthy Morgan of Albemarle; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

ASHEBORO - Toye Brown Irby, 79, died Friday, March 22, 2002, at Asheboro Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Centre Friends Meeting Cemetery.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are daughters, Helen Dawson of Gibsonville, Tammy Irby of Greensboro; son, Henry Irby of Greensboro; stepdaughter, Kathleen Akers of Raleigh; brother, Oscar Irby of Portsmouth, Va.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Surviving in addition to the parents are grandparents, George and Betsy Bageant of Asheboro, George McArthur of Billings, Mont., Carolyn Wilson of High Point; great-grandparents, Kathryn Bageant Trudell of Asheboro, James and Janet McFadden of Chestertown, Md.

She was a native of Randolph County and retired from Stedman Manufacturing after more than 25 years.

ASHEBORO - Joseph "Joe" Bartow Wise, 83, of 1293 Briar Cliff Drive, Asheboro, died Sunday, March 24, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Larry Moore and Carey Wise officiating. Entombment will be at Randolph Memorial Park with Masonic Rites.

He was a native of Byran County, Ga., a member of Central United Methodist Church, a member of Asheboro Masonic Lodge #699 AF & AM and the Randolph Shrine Club, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of the American Legion and the V.F.W.

Surviving are wife, Iretta H. Wise of the home; daughter, Brenda Jo W. Bottoms of Lakeland, Fla.; stepson, J. Marshall Presnell of Phoenix, Ariz.; brother, James Riley Wise of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

He was a native of Newbury Port, Mass., retired from the U.S. Air Force and a member of the V.F.W.

Surviving are wife, Barbara Hersey of the home; daughters, Sandra G. Hersey of North Falmouth, Mass., Diane L. Varney, of Lexington, Patricia A. Hersey, of Waquoit, Mass.; sisters, Eleanor Griswold of Salisbury, Mass, Mabel O'Connor of Seabrook, N.H., Beverly Lauder of Raymond, N.H.; brother, William M. Hersey of Conway, S.C.; two grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandson.

She was a native of Surry County, a member of Friendly Wesleyan Church and a retired employee of Hardin's Florist in Liberty.

Surviving are daughters, Louise F. Ferguson and Lois F. Woodall, both of Liberty; son, Earl Ferguson of Liberty; sisters, Nina Jones of Bennett, Ila Mae Stanley of Hickory, Mattie Terry of Greensboro; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Louise Ferguson, 5212 York-Martin Road, Liberty.

LIBERTY - Mary Allred Ferguson, 86, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

She was a native of Alamance County, a member of Friendly Wesleyan Church and the widow of William Adam Ferguson.

Surviving are daughters, Elaine Toney of Snow Camp, Betty Francis Ferguson of Staley; sons, William A. Ferguson of Randleman, Garland A. Ferguson, Frank A. Ferguson, and Ronald W. Ferguson, all of Liberty; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

COLERIDGE - Ella Wilson Kidd, 81, of SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation, Siler City, formerly of Coleridge, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at her home.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Deep River Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Bob Boyd and Keith Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Concord United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County and a homemaker.

Surviving are sons, Harold Ray Kidd, Johnny Clarence Kidd, both of Coleridge, Larry Jackson Kidd of Asheboro; daughters, Mary Lee K. Carter of King, Betty K. Ayers of Ramseur, Clara Mae K. Burns of Coleridge; brothers, Henry George Kidd of Shallote, George "Buck" Kidd of Siler City, Roy Maness of Asheboro; 21 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

SILER CITY - Thomas King Price Sr., 94, of 4010 Alston Bridge Road, died Monday, March 25, 2002, at SunBridge Care Facilities, Siler City.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with the Rev. Larry Soblotne officiating. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Park.

He was a native of Henry County, Va., the widower of Edner Johnson Price and owner and operator of Siler City Ice and Coal Co.

Surviving are sons, Robert D. Price and Thomas Allen "Tad Pole" Price, both of Siler City; daughters, Nancy P. Dunn and Barbara Hart, both of Siler City, Lucinda Pinnock of Vass; brothers, William H. Price of Eden, Rangeley D. Price of Raleigh, Charles Price Jr. of Charlotte; sister, Mary Jane Lewis of Eden; stepdaughters, Suzanne Hicks of Bear Creek, Jackie Pickard of Siler City; 18 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Spartanburg, S.C., a member of the Men's Sunday School Class at his church and an employee of Chatham Trades, Siler City.

He was retired from Capelsie Mills.

He was a native of Jacksonville, Fla., a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, vice president of Smith Steel Construction Co. and a machinery appraiser.

Surviving are wife, Mable Alford Smith; daughter, Pamela Smith Miller of Boone; son, Perrin Smith of Cary; brother, Lindner Smith Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla.; sister, Virginia Stiles of Jacksonville, Fla.; one granddaughter; one great-granddaughter.
