She was a native of Asheboro, the widow of Frank Deberry and an inspector at Ven-Ply Veneer. She attended Temple Memorial Baptist Church.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Roy Lee Bumgardner and a homemaker.

She was a native of Guilford County and attended Shady Grove Baptist Church.

LIBERTY - Clarence M. Hinshaw, 88, of 6339 Richland Church Road, died Wednesday, May 15, 2002, at Carol Lee Elderly Care Home.
Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Steve Jobnson and the Rev. Bill Bigham officiating.
He was a native of Randolph County, a member of First United Methodist Church and worked with the Randolph County Sheriff s Department and the Randleman Police Department before joining the Liberty Police Department in 1947 as Chief of Police. He retired in 1978.
Surviving are wife, Odelia Palmer Hinshaw of the home; daughter, Linda H. Fogleman of Liberty; sister, Hazel Ross of Greensboro; brothers, Rez Hinshaw of Charlotte, Howard Hinshaw of Liberty.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Epworth United Methodist Church, Durham, where she was a charter member, with the Rev. Ben Rouse officiating.
She was a native of Seagrove, the widow of John Reynolds, a graduate of High Point University with a BA in teaching and a retired first-grade teacher with over 30 years at Oak Grove Elementary in the Durham County School Systems. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Teachers Sorority, the NEA and other educational organizations, and a Sunday School teacher at her church.
Surviving are daughters, Karen Schuster of Charleston, S.C., Dawn McAdams of High Point; sister, Frances Hinshaw of Randleman; one grandson.
The family will at the church 1:30-2 p.m. Saturday.

He was a native of Randolph County, a retired worker from the N.C. Department of Correction, the owner and operator of J.C.'s Used Cars and a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam era.

She was a native of Montgomery County, the widow of Henry Christian and a homemaker.

She was a native of Winston-Salem, the widow of Dr. George William Thompson, a graduate of Meredith College and High Point College and a music teacher with the Forsyth County School System who also taught private lessons.
Surviving are daughters, Mary Potter of Winston-Salem, Martha Jetton and Beth Byron, both of Charlotte; son, Al Thompson of Winston-Salem; nine grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Leroy Diggs, 71, of 315 Coleridge Road, Asheboro, died Friday, May 17, 2002, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation, Asheboro.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Henry Lockett officiating and military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
He was a native of Ellerbe, a member of both Sneed Grove A.M.E. Zion and the Church of God of Prophecy. He had been employed with Walker and Strider Buick GMC Subaru for 40 years, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, was a charter member of the Randolph County Honor Guard and past Commander of the Randolph County chapter of the Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are sisters, Gladys D. Nicholson of Ellerbe, Janie D. Andrew of Boston, Mass.; brother, Henry Diggs of Ellerbe.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday in Asheboro, with the Rev. Jeff White officiating.
She was a native of Asheboro, the widow of John Herman Wright, attended Queens College, where she was a member of the Chi Omega sorority and graduated with honors from Women's College in Greensboro. She was a founder of the Asheboro-Randolph County library system, instrumental in the creation of the bookmobile program and on the library's board of directors. She was a garden and book club member, attended First Presbyterian Church of Asheboro and served as a member of the Colonial Dames.
Surviving are sister, Marjorie Whitaker Barrow of Augusta, Ga.; son, Dr. John H. Wright of Winston-Salem; daughter, Sarah Holland of Lewisville; five grandchildren; one great-grandson.
