Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Randolph Memorial Park, with military honors and the Rev. A. J. Kendrick officiating.
He was a native of Greensboro, retired from the U.S. Navy, operated Davis Poultry and a member of AMVETS Post 905.
Surviving are son, Keith W. Davis of Randleman; daughter, Gina D. Hoover of Asheboro; brother, Clarence Davis of Asheboro; three grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Susie Elizabeth Parsons Kearns, 91, of 1320 Cable Creek Road, Asheboro, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Union United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Lee Roy Hunt and the Rev. Jean Nall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Richmond County, the widow of Clyde C. Kearns and a homemaker.
Surviving are daughters, Sarah K. Dunn of Star, Betty Bingham, Barbara Ann Wilson, both of Asheboro, Patsy White of Concord; sons, James "Jimmy" L. Kearns, Larry Kearns, Lynn Kearns, all of Asheboro, J.P. "Parson" Kearns of Sophia; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

RANDLEMAN - Clyde Eugene Whatley, 69, of 665 Bonkemeyer Country Trail, died Monday, June 10, 2002, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Steve Wood and the Rev. Kenneth Reaves officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors.
He was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Army veteran, a graduate of High Point College and formerly employed with Sechrest Funeral Home in High Point. He taught school in Staley, Franklinville, Coleridge and Grays Chapel and coached girl's basketball and Little League Baseball and was a member of Woodmen of the World.
Surviving are wife, Charlcie Bonkemeyer Whatley; daughter, Diane Norris of Asheboro; sons, Dean Whatley of Asheboro, Danny Whatley and Don Whatley, both of Randleman, Doyle Whatley of Sophia; sisters, Linda York and Wanda Dennis, both of Ulah; brother, David Whatley of Ulah; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home of the daughter, 511 Hub Morris Road, Asheboro.

He was a native of Guilford County, the widower of Helen Ross Harvell, had worked for Beason's Dairy and Noah's Dairy and joined the C.C. Camp during the Great Depression.
