ASHEBORO - Juanita Roberts Trogdon, 92, of 1928 Trogdon Hill Road, Asheboro, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cedar Falls United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Edna Riggs officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Stokes County, the widow of D. Odell Trogdon, a homemaker and a Sunday School teacher and choir member at her church.

Surviving are sons, Jack D. Trogdon of Asheboro, Lanny O. Trogdon of Chapel Hill; sister, Delphine Coward of Wilmington; three grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Jack Trogdon, 1894 Trogdon Hill Road, Asheboro.

Nolan K. Voncannon
ASHEBORO - Nolan Kermit Voncannon, 81, of 2382 Old Humble Mill Road, Asheboro, died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Warren Casiday and the Rev. Lee Roy Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Spoon's Chapel United Church of Christ Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, retired from Bossong Hosiery, operator of Voncannon Shooting Preserve and a member of Spoon's Chapel United Church of Christ.

Surviving are wife, Alice C. Voncannon of Asheboro; daughter, Linda V. Cain of Thomasville; sons, Nolan Kermit Voncannon Jr. of Lake Geneva, Wis., Larry K. Voncannon of Asheboro; brother, Dempsey Voncannon of Asheboro; sisters, Gladys V. Cox, Frances V. Bullins, Margaret V. Shelton, all of Asheboro; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Monday.

Memorials may be made to Spoon's Chapel United Church of Christ, 1880 Spoon's Chapel Road, Asheboro, N.C. 27203.

Eula W. Brewer
ROBBINS - Eula Mae Williams Brewer, 86, of 470 Emma Lane, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Ernest Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in Pine Rest Cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Clyde Brewer, co-owner of Central Hardware & Furniture and a member of the W.M.U. and the Brafford-Tew Sunday School Class at her church and of the D.A.R.

Surviving are son, Tony Brewer of Sanford; daughter, Margaret B. McGill of Fairfax Station, Va.; five grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

J. Robert Swenson
WHISPERING PINES - J. Robert "Bob" Swenson, 81, died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Eureka Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jean Ganzel and the Rev. Charles Meek officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Colorado Springs Colo., a graduate of Kansas State University and retired from Firestone Tire Co. as a chemical engineer.

Surviving are wife, Berdine H. Swenson; daughter, Janet Pearson of Charlottesville, Va.; sons, John Swenson of Greene, N.Y., Paul Swenson of Midlothian, Va.; six grandchildren.

The family will be at the church following the funeral service.

Stella A. Craven
ASHEBORO - Stella Allen Craven, 81, of Foster Street, Asheboro, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at Clapp's Nursing Home, Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holly Spring Friends Meeting, where she was a member, with the Rev. Ricky Sessoms and the Rev. Leslie Winslow officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and retired from Bossong Hosiery after 38 years.

Surviving are son, Ricky Craven of Asheboro; brother, Quentin Allen of Asheboro; sisters, Patti Craven and Nadine Moffitt, both of Ramseur, Gertie Lee Dark, Dorcas Edwards, Cloyce Moon and Rebecca Powell, all of Asheboro; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of the son, 488 Foster St., Asheboro.

ASHEBORO - Bailey Morgan Rouse and Taylor Madyson Rouse, infant daughters of Jerry and Crystal Rouse, of 2949 Shaw St., Asheboro, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace Baptist Temple Cemetery, with the Rev. Arnold J. Comer officiating.

Surviving in addition to the parents are brother, Matthew Rouse of the home; grandparents, Margaret and James Comer of Seagrove, Doris Rouse of Columbia, S.C., Wilbert Rouse of Robbins.

Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of arrangements.

ASHEBORO - Elwood Lincoln "Pete" Peatross, 87, of 688 Brownmire Drive, Asheboro, died Friday, June 14, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro. Burial will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery, High Point.

He was a native of Guilford County and a retired carpenter.

Surviving are wife, Ruth Wright Peatross; son, Edgar Bruce Peatross of Stafford, Va.; two grandchildren; one stepsister.

The family will be at the funeral home 1-2 p.m. Wednesday.

ASHEBORO - Edna Vonzelle Sharp, 78, of Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, died Monday, June 17, 2002, at Clapp's.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro. Burial will be in Pierce's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, a member of Glenola Baptist Church and retired from Burlington Socks.

Surviving are husband, Cecil Sharp; son, Dennis Summey of Asheboro; daughters, Shirley Jarrell and Ronda Hughes, both of Asheboro; sister, Bernice Davis of Asheboro; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Ronda Hughes, 828 Jerry Hughes St., Asheboro.

ASHEBORO - Clara Ann Harvell Willetts, 55, of 458 Fern Drive, Asheboro, died Monday, June 17, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Callicutt Chapel Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Danny Penny officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Guilford County, the widow of Sidney "JR" Willetts and the owner/operator of JR's Taxi Service.

Surviving are sons, Frankie York of Ramseur, Tony Ray York of Asheboro; daughter, Shonda York of Asheboro; mother, Rose R. Harvell of Troy; sister, Helen Hurley of Troy; brother, Raymond Harvell of Asheboro; five grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

James D. Boggs
LIBERTY - James David "Jabo" Boggs, 69, of 4635 Boggs Trail, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with the Rev. Tom Hill officiating. Burial will be in Whites Chapel United Methodist Church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a retired lawn mower and landscaper, and a U.S. Navy veteran.

Surviving are wife, Dorothy York Boggs of the home; sons, Bernie Boggs and Randy Boggs, both of the home; brothers, Robert Poole of New Mexico, Ernest Lee Boggs of Asheboro; one granddaughter.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

Dallas Sales Jr.
SILER CITY - Dallas Sales Jr., 51, of 883 Gees Grove Road, died Saturday, June 15, 2002, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Gees Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, with the Rev. Allen Moore officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Guilford County.

Surviving are wife, Kay Sales of Greensboro; daughters, Shanetta Sales and Chichi Sales, both of Greensboro; sons, Chris Sales of Dallas, Texas, Dallas Warren of Boone, Jeremy of Greensboro, Darrell and Jerell, both of Henderson; sisters, Shelby Strickland of Yadkinville, Marshalcan Staley of Siler City, Lisa Sales of Chapel Hill; brother, Sammy Sales of Dallas, Texas; stepbrother, Kenny Williams of Siler City; five grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 2:30-3 p.m. Wednesday.

LEXINGTON - Venia Bunting Young, 74, of Young Road, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at High Point Regional Medical Center.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Beck's Lutheran Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. David Huddle officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and a retired secretary for Miller Law Firm in Asheboro.

Surviving are husband, Frank Adolphus Young Sr. of the home; son, Frank A. Young Jr. of Lexington; brother, Raeford Bunting of Seagrove; sister, Ila Hamilton of Asheboro; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of the son, Young Road.

Ray Person, both of Eagle Springs, David A. Person of Rockingham; seven grandchildren.

ELIZABETH CITY - Alma C. Jones, 77, died Sunday, June 16, 2002, at Albemarle Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Twiford Funeral Home, Elizabeth City, with Pastor Lee Porter officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was a native of Camden County and the widow of B. Lanier Jones.

Surviving are daughters, Sharyn Dawes of Franklinville, Janice Suchy, Marsha Mulder, both of Elizabeth City; sons, Terry Jones, Bruce Jones, both of Elizabeth City, Melvin Jones of Philadelphia, Pa.; sisters, Helen Ford of Houma, La., Minnie Mae Sanderlin of Portsmouth, Va., Ethel Hise of San Diego, Calif., Julia Glass of Barco; brother, Melvin Cutrell of Shiloh; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Jones, 745 Fire Tower Road, Elizabeth City.

She was a native of Chatham County, the widow of Norman Floyd McManus and a member of Rehobeth United Methodist Church, Greensboro.

Surviving are sons, Clyde McManus of Liberty, Cambridge McManus of Orlando, Fla.; daughters, Mary Wilkenson of Greensboro, Martha McManus of Montana; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of Clyde McManus, 7361 Old Liberty Road, Liberty.
