Funeral service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Dale Kennedy and the Rev. Don Leonard officiating. Burial will be Wednesday afternoon at Pleasant Vail Presbyterian Church, Pleasant Vail, Tenn.
He was a native of Greenville, Tenn., a retired salesman with Shell Oil Co., a member of First E & R Church of Asheboro and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are wife, Pauline Murray Marion of Asheboro; son, Ron Marion of Winston-Salem; sister, Annabelle Willis of Jonesboro, Tenn.; three grandsons.
The family will be at the funeral home 5-6 p.m. Tuesday.

ASHEBORO - Pauline Smith, 54, of 351 Brookside Drive, Asheboro, died Saturday, June 29, 2002, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Zion Holiness Church, where she was a member, with Elder Evelyn Holland officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.
She was a native of Wake County, an employee of Asheboro Health and Rehabilitation, and an usher, choir member and vice president of the Missionary Department at her church.
Surviving are daughter, Melinda Smith of the home; sons, Dennis Paul Smith, Maurice Smith, both of the home; sisters, Annie Smith of Randleman, Linda S. Williams of Stamford, Conn.; brothers, Horace Smith of Asheboro, Aaron Smith of Wake Forest, Robert Smith of Oxford, Harold Smith, Jerome Smith, both of Durham.

LIBERTY - Frederick "Jim" Allred, 88, of Serenity Care Assisted Living, Greensboro, formerly of Liberty, died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Serenity Care.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Fairview Cemetery, Liberty, with the Rev. Wayne Dunn officiating.
He was a native of Randolph County, the widower of Janet Turner Allred and a retired employee with Liberty Chair Co. in Liberty.
Surviving are daughters, Joan Duncan of Liberty, Anita Wilson of Greensboro; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

CLIMAX - Vivian E. Whittaker, 87, formerly of 6113 N.C. 22, died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Ronald Doub officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Robeson County and the widow of Leroy Martin Whittaker.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Moody Funeral Home of Mt. Airy, with the Rev. Eugene Puckett and the Rev. Eddie Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Skyline Memory Gardens with graveside military honors by VFW Memorial Honor Guard 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain.
He was a native of Carroll County, Va., a retired self-employed produce dealer, a World War II U. S. Army veteran and of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are wife, Mary Riddle Norman of the home; daughters, Louise Lassiter of Asheboro, Mildred Knock of Baltimore, Md.; sons, Joe Bill Norman and Arthur Ray Norman, both of Mt. Airy; sisters, Stella Harris and Hazel Leonard, both of Dobson; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Moore County and a homemaker.

She was a native of Surry County, a graduate of Fayetteville Street School, formerly employed with My Lady Dress Shop and a member of First Baptist Church. She was a former member of Business and Professional Women's Club where she was Woman of the Year.
Surviving are husband, C. Max Allen; stepdaughter, Clara A. Hill of Asheboro; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Randolph County and retired from Kings Department Store.

He was a native of Norwalk, Conn., worked for Taylor Construction in Asheboro, of the Baptist faith and a student at Randolph Community College in machinery technology.

She was a member of The Guilford County Genealogical Society of North Carolina, where she served as Recorder of Military Service Awards, a member of The Randolph County Genealogical Society of North Carolina, a member of The United Daughters of The Confederacy - Guilford Chapter 301 and of the Rachel Caldwell Chapter of The Daughters of The American Revolution.
