JACKSON SPRINGS - Louis Robert Jones, 68, of 455 Thomas Road, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Eagle Springs Baptist Church, with Dr. Zeb Moss officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Patrick County, Va., and a farmer.

Surviving are wife, Mary Alice Jones of the home; daughters, Donna Crouch of Hamlet, Lisa Perry of Winston-Salem; sons, Louis R. Jones Jr., Ernie Wayne Jones, Frankie Lee Jones, all of Jackson Springs; six grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, Candor, 6-8 p.m. Friday.

Dola H. Rexrode
EAGLE SPRINGS - Dola Horner Rexrode, 84, of 7455 N.C. 705, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Pinelake Health & Rehab Center, Carthage.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Keith Miller and the Rev. D.L. Hussey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Ernest Rexrode and a retired worker from Safeway Produce Co., Washington, D.C.

Surviving are nephew, Cecil Rouse of the home; brother, Carl Horner of Eagle Springs; sister, Bonnie H. Williams of Eagle Springs.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, other times at 7431 N.C. 705, Eagle Springs.

Kenneth R. Shaver
RICHFIELD - Kenneth Richard Shaver, 68, of 141 Floyd St., died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Stanly Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at New Bethel Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors by the Albemarle-Stanly County DAV.

He was a native of Rowan County, a U.S. Army veteran, a cutter and sewer for Perfect Fit in Richfield for 25 years, and a member of the Richfield Volunteer Fire Department.

Surviving are wife, Dorothy Gladys Ridenhour Shaver of Richfield; daughters, Darlene S. Webster, Penny S. Medlin, both of Richfield, Alanna S. McLaughlin of Asheboro; brothers, Billy Shaver, Roy Shaver, both of Richfield; sister, Clara Mae Basinger of Gold Hill; three granddaughters.

The family will be at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle, 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

CAMP LEJEUNE - Christian Chad Gaines, infant son of Lance Cpl. S. Chad Gaines and Ann Brooks Gaines, 777 Butler Drive, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at Camp Lejeune Naval Hospital, Jacksonville.

Graveside service will be 7 p.m. Saturday at Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church Cemetery, Siler City, with the Rev. Lamont Hemminger officiating.

Surviving in addition to the parents are grandparents, Len and Katie Brooks, Phil Gaines Jr. and Lisa Gaines, all of Siler City, Cary Vickrey of Silk Hope; great-grandparents, Phillip Gaines Sr. and Jo Ann Gaines of Siler City, Betty Ann Fogleman of Silk Hope, Martha Helton of Snow Camp.

Smith and Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, is in charge of arrangements.

ASHEBORO - Jacqueline B. Bullock, 49, of 656 Vance St., Asheboro, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Gailes Funeral Home, Asheboro.

She was a member of Mt. Olive FBH Church

Surviving are husband, Beecher Bullock of the home; son, Donald Brower of Asheboro; daughter, Tina Frazier of Asheboro; brother, Charles Brower of Asheboro; sisters, Sylvia McSwain, Doris Green and Betsy Young, all of Asheboro; four grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 1-2 p.m. Sunday.

ASHEBORO - Hazel Davis Miller, 92, of 1383 Martin Luther King Drive, Asheboro, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Johnny R. Henderson officiating. Burial will be in White Oak Springs Cemetery, Ether.

She was a native of Steeds Community, the widow of Howard Miller, a homemaker and a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church where she worked in the nursery.

Surviving are daughters, Zelma Reeder of Randleman, Dianne Hayes of Winston-Salem, Carlene Lamb, Doris Dowd and Phyllis Lewallyn, all of Asheboro; sons, Max Miller of Midlothian, Texas, Steve Miller of Asheboro; sister, Mae Cornelison of Star; 17 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of Doris Dowd, 876 Howard Ave., Asheboro.

ASHEBORO - Donna Argene Wright Underwood, 59, of 231 E. Salisbury St., Apt. A, Asheboro, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Bluefield, W.Va., and employed at Elastex, Inc.

Surviving are daughter, Jo McAninch of Asheboro; son, Brian Wright of Asheboro; sister, Sarah Agnew of Asheboro; brother, Daniel Midkiff; four grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Agnew, 217 Barber St., Asheboro.

John U. Buckner
MARION - John U. Buckner, 90, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Westmoreland Funeral Home, Marion, with the Rev. Laura Long officiating. Burial will be in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Rutherford County, the widower of Irene Hogan Buckner and a member of Clinchfield Presbyterian Church. He worked in the shipyards in Wilmington, at Clinchfield Manufacturing, General Motors in Flint, Mich., and for the N.C. State Prison System. He retired from East Marion Manufacturing.

Surviving are daughters, Kathy Cooke of Raleigh, Joyce Bright of Tulsa, Okla., Nancy Murdock of Marion; son, Joe Buckner of Asheboro; sisters, Josephine Comeford and Glenys Gilbert, both of Marion, Florence Harris of Sanford; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Saturday.

Odis M. Ryder
LEXINGTON - Odis Marvin Ryder, 69, of Meredith Avenue, died Friday, July 26, 2002, in Lexington Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Monday at Coggins Memorial Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lowell Askins and the Rev. Wayne Vuncannon officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hill Memorial Park.

He was a native of Caldwell County, a U.S. Navy veteran, an assistant plant manager at United Furniture Co., an assistant superintendent of Burlington Industries and retired from Stanley Furniture where he was a Quality Control supervisor.

Surviving are wife, Shirley Hill Ryder of the home; son, Robert Ryder of Milpitas, Calif.; daughter, Cynthia Adkins of Lexington; brother, Toni Ryder of Lexington; sisters, Lucille Allen, Christine Rowe, Bernice Leonard, all of Lexington, Juanita Yates of Thomasville, Hazel Vuncannon of Asheboro; one grandson.

The family will be at Davidson Funeral Home, Lexington, 6-8 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

Andrew DiDona
ASHEBORO - Aniello Andrew DiDona, 81, of 144 S. Randolph Ave., Asheboro, died Tuesday, July 23, 2002, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with Father Joseph Mack officiating.

He was a native of Brooklyn, N.Y., a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a Bronze Star recipient and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 20 years.

Surviving are wife, Grace Gizze of the home; sons, Edward DiDona of Long Island, N.Y., Joe DiDona of Asheboro; two grandchildren.

Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of arrangements.

Leona H. Albright
SEAGROVE - Leona Hancock Albright, 72, of 1011 S. N.C. 705, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Seagrove Emmanuel Holiness Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Jonathan Bass and the Rev. Leonard Moore officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Guilford County and a retired supervisor with Kayser-Roth Hosiery.

Surviving are sons, Dewayne C. Albright of Seagrove, Glenn Edward Albright of Asheboro; sisters, Rachel Cagle of Asheboro, Lottie Purvis of Bennett; brother, Ernest Ray Hancock of Morton, Ill.; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Tommy Floyd
ASHEBORO - Thomas Calvin Floyd, 89, of 177 Crestview Church Road, Asheboro, died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. D. W. Long and the Rev. Alvin Brooks officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. in Big Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Westfield.

He was a native of Stokes County, a member of Church of Tomorrow Baptist Church of Thomasville, retired from WZOO Radio and from TV as an announcer. He managed Tommy Floyd and the Blue Ridge Buddies.

Surviving are wife, Versie Mae Floyd of Asheboro; daughter, Patsy F. Barnes of Asheboro; son, Buster Floyd of Wilmington; sister, Mary Rakestraw of High Point; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Monday.

ASHEBORO - James Everett Baldwin, 73, of 1015 Cedar Falls Road, Asheboro, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Monday at Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, with the Rev. John Butler officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Surviving are daughters, Brenda Johnson, Queenie B. Elliot, Joyce B. Jackson, Janet B. Adams, Jeannette B. Brown, Mimi B. Headen and Sabrina Jones; sons, Charles Baldwin, Frankie Baldwin, Donnie Baldwin, Ronnie Baldwin, Keith Baldwin and James Baldwin; sister, Shirley B. Jordon; brothers, Junior Baldwin and Roosevelt Baldwin; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 3 p.m. Monday.

She was a mortgage underwriter for United Guarranty in Greensboro.

Surviving are sons, Derek May and Brannon May, both of Winston-Salem; father and mother, Howard and Gladys Parks of Asheboro; sister, Carolyn Hux of Charlotte; brother, Gary Parks of Asheboro.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Pervie Hussey and retired from Purdue Co.

Surviving are brother, William Curtis Garner Jr. of Trinity; sisters, Eula G. Wallace, Hazel G. Morgan and Doreen G. Brown, all of Robbins.

Martha U. Jeffries
RALEIGH - Martha Jean Underwood Jeffries, 76, of 804 Autumn Court, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at Rex Health Care, Raleigh.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Giles Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, Asheboro, with the Rev. Robert Kidd officiating.

She was a graduate of Asheboro Business College and a retired secretary and bookkeeper in the building supply industry.

Surviving are daughters, Linda Moss McNamara of Moorehead City, Brenda Kay Moss of Aberdeen; stepsons, Ronnie Jeffries and Steve Jeffries, both of Raleigh; brother, Bill Underwood of Asheboro; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson.

He was a native of Randolph County, a member and former deacon of Forrest Park Baptist Church, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and employed with Vick Brothers Electric Co. of Asheboro for 37 years.

Surviving are daughter, Donna C. Vick of Monton, England; sons, Roger Lee Cook and Steven Dale Cook, both of Asheboro; sister, Nancy Williams of Great Mills, Md.; brothers, Bill Cook of Franklinville, James Cook of Asheboro; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

He was a native of Randolph County, the widower of Helen Brown Miller and a retired worker from Acme-McCrary Corp. He was a member of Back Creek Friends Meeting where he was on the Good Neighbor Fund Committee.

Surviving are son, Norman T. Miller of Asheboro; sister, Ruth Nance of Asheboro; brother, George Miller of Asheboro; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.
