Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Chris Cadenhead officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery.
She was a native of York, S.C., the widow of Brainard M. "Bud" Currence, a retired secretary/administrative assistant and a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Rock Hill, S.C.
Surviving are son, William Frank Haywood II of Troy, Gary Haywood of Mt. Gilead; stepdaughter, Bobby Jean Bagby of Charleston, W.Va.; sister, Naomi Poole of Rock Hill, S.C.; six grandchildren.
The family will be at the home following the service.

BEAR CREEK - Ralph Lee Sipe, 85, of 990 Ralph Sipe Road, died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at Chatham Hospital, Siler City.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sandy Branch Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Robert Capps officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Rockingham County, the widower of Nannie Dowd Sipe and a retired farmer.
Surviving are son, James R. Sipe of Bear Creek; sisters, Virginia S. Moody of Bear Creek, Lois S. Gilliland and Alta S. Green, both of Greensboro; brothers, Jack Sipe of Bear Creek, James "Ed" Sipe of Burlington, Billy G. Sipe of Greensboro; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.
The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of the son, 928 Ralph Sipe Road, Bear Creek.

GOLDSTON - Joan Light Talley, 69, of 2370 N.C. 42, died Sunday, July 28, 2002, at her home.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Carbonton United Methodist Church, Carbonton, where she was a member, with the Rev. Buck Frye and the Rev. Gyles Saunders officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Chatham County, a homemaker and a member of the Women's Missionary Society at her church.

She was a native of Montgomery County, the widow of R.H. "Bob" Melton and a retired worker from Nantucket Hosiery Mill.

He was a native of Johnston County, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, an artist and a former teacher at GTCC. He was a member of American Legion Post #45 and the Uwharrie Dive Club.

Rev. Sydney L. Goldfinch
WINSTON-SALEM - The Rev. Sydney Langston Goldfinch, 90, died Sunday, July 28, 2002.
He was a native of Conway, S.C., a graduate of Columbia Bible College, a 1934 graduate of Wheaton College and received his master's from Southern Theological Seminary in 1936. He served as a missionary in Uruguay, Paraguay and Costa Rica for 42 1/2 years and was a member of First Baptist Church, Walnut Grove.
Surviving are brother, Albert Eugene Goldfinch Jr. of Asheboro.
