Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Dr. John S. Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
She was a retired worker from Sapona Manufacturing, the widow of Franklin Eugene Wells, a member of First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Dorcas T.E.L. Sunday School class, and a member of The Elderberries at Asheboro Friends Meeting.
The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

CEDAR FALLS - Theodocia "Peggy" Wallace Laughlin, 69, 3655 Old Cedar Falls Road, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at her home.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Landmark Baptist Church, Asheboro, where she was a member, with the Rev. Frank Barrett officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Falls United Methodist Church Cemetery.
She was a native of Alamance County, a retired nurse and a former employee with the Family Crisis Center.
Surviving are husband, David D. Laughlin; daughter, Sharon Laughlin of Cedar Falls; sons, David Michael Laughlin, David Russell Laughlin, both of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the church 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

TRINITY - Douglas "Doug" Boyd Stewart, 40, of 4543 Millers Mill Road, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at Stokes-Reynolds Memorial Hospital, Danbury.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with the Rev. Billy Hagee officiating. Burial will be in Smyrna Grove Community Church Cemetery, Asheboro.
He was a native of Guilford County, a member of Smyrna Grove Community Church and an employee with Davis Feed and Supply Co.
Surviving are wife, Karen Johnson of Sophia; mother, Gladys Hill Layton of Sophia; son, Christopher Stewart of Asheboro; sister, Gail Harrington of Asheboro; brothers, Jimmy R. Stewart Jr. of Thomasville, Terry Stewart of Sophia.

GREENSBORO - Ella Mae Peeples, 94, of 4501 Old Battleground Road, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at Wesley Long Community Hospital.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Guilford Memorial Park, with the Rev. Lynn Gordon officiating.
She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Burty Allen Peeples, a retired spinner with Cone Mills Revolution Plant and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are son, Donald R. Peeples of Greensboro; daughters, Mamie Jo Lassiter of Hazel Green, Ala., Glenda Faye Fogleman of Sophia, Dorothy Curlee of Greensboro; sister, Helen Wilson of Asheboro; brother, Harland Bowman of Alta Vista, Va.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

SILER CITY - Christine Wright Johnson, 83, of 596 R.E. Wright Road, Snow Camp, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at SunBridge Care Facilities, Siler City.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at South Fork Friends Church, Snow Camp, where she was a member, with the Rev. J. Rodney Powell, the Rev. Arnold Faw and the Rev. Howard Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Chatham County, a retired worker from A.J. Schnierson and Sons, and the widow of Norman Monroe Johnson. She was a member of the Women's Missionary Society, the Genevieve Lindley Sunday school class and a former member of the church choir at her church.
Surviving are sons, Gareth L. Johnson of Burlington, Ray H. Johnson of Snow Camp; sister, Josie W. Clapp of Siler City; five grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.

ASHEBORO - Walter Gilmer "Mickey" Mickey Jr., 67, of 321 S. High St., Asheboro, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at his home.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Fayetteville Street Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Adrian Pugh and Neal Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors.
He was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and a retired worker from Elastic Therapy Inc.
Surviving are wife, Glenda C. Mickey; son, Terry Wayne Mickey of Burgaw; daughters, Teresa M. Haga of Randleman, Patricia M. Perry of Asheboro; stepmother, Alma Mickey of Texas; sisters, Betty Cook, Edna Lee Hodges, both of Asheboro; half sisters, Linda Salter, Barbara Oldfield, both of Texas; five grandchildren.

MOUNT OLIVE - Minnie McCullen Overman, 89, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2002, at SunBridge Care Center, Mount Olive.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Brownings United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Neal Wingfield and the Rev. Bob Hovey officiating. Burial will be in Wayne Memorial Park, Goldsboro.
She was the widow of Claude W. Overman, a member of the United Methodist Women at her church, where she had served as secretary, and a member of the Dobbersville Home Demonstration Club.
Surviving are son, Newlon McCoy Overman of Goldsboro; daughter, Marlene O. Wooten of Asheboro; sisters, Mildred McCullen Jones of Mount Olive, Louise McCullen Williams of Goldsboro; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Aberdeen, the widow of the Rev. John Wesley Whitaker and a day-care teacher.

He was a native of Montgomery County, the widower of Miriam Rokenbrod Rush, a retired worker from George F. Muth Co. in Washington, D.C., and a former employee with McKeithan Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead, for 25 years. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are wife, Phyllis Maner Morgan Rush of the home; stepsons, Jay Morgan of St. Petersburg, Fla., Brian Morgan of Albemarle; four stepgrandchildren.

She was a native of Asheboro, the widow of Yaha Ali Bahar and a 1975 honors graduate of Asheboro High School. She attended Eastern Washington State University in Cheney, Wash., for nursing administration, and received a B.S. in Health Administration at Loma Linda University in California. She was a Health Manager with the Cancer Center at Hampton's Sentara General Hospital, Hampton, Va., and employed as a Health Administration Manager at Medical College Virginia University Hospital. She attended Grove Baptist Church, Chesapeake, Va., and Northgate Baptist Church, Richmond, Va.
Surviving are son, Cameron Ali Bahar; father, George T. Brower of Asheboro; brother, Phillip J. Taylor of Charlotte.
The family will be at the church noon-1 p.m., other times at the home.
