She was a native of Chatham County and a retired postal worker.
Surviving are sister, Delores Branch of Siler City; brothers, Garret Cheek, Benjamin M. Cheek, Perry C. Cheek, all of Siler City.

SILER CITY - Thomas Lawrence "Tom" Fox, 64, of 472 Piney Grove Church Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2002, at his home.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Hill Christian Church, Liberty. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church cemetery.
He was a native of Alamance County, an electrical contractor and a U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are wife, Shelby Ross Fox of the home; sons, Greg Fox of Liberty, Mike Fox of Locust; stepdaughter, Lanette Hamilton of Randleman; stepson, Branson Hyler of Ramseur; mother, Ollie Fogleman Fox of Liberty; eight grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren.

He was a native of Cumberland County.

BISCOE - Virginia Lee Anderson, 83, formerly of 233 Lambert Road, died Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at Tara Plantation of Carthage.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Greenwood Memorial Park Chapel, Lower Burrell, Pa., with the Rev. Cliff Foster officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Braeburn, Pa., and a retired cafeteria manager with Braeburn Steel.
Surviving are son, H. Eugene "Gene" Anderson of Biscoe; sisters, Lois Baksis of Apollo, Pa., Sally Sypulski of Freeport, Pa.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Asheboro, a 1955 graduate of Asheboro High School and served in the National Guard. He was a charter member of the Ash-Rand Rescue Squad where he was secretary-treasurer, a former restaurant owner and operator, the administrative office manager with Klopman Mills for 20 years and with J.S. Rental office for 13 years and a notary public.
Surviving are wife, Lucy Lewallen Shirley of Asheboro; brothers, Walter L. Shirley, Bobby C. Shirley, Frankie L. Shirley, all of Asheboro.
