CHARLOTTE - Lillie Mae Cherry "Mama Lil" White, 101, of 7932 Ebony Road, formerly of Asheboro, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Presbyterian Hospital.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ebenezer Baptist Church, with Dr. Leonzo D. Lynch officiating.
She was a native of Battleboro, the widow of Robert White Sr. and the former owner and operator of Bob's Restaurant in Nyack, N.Y.
Surviving are daughter, Josephine Spinks of Asheboro; grandson, Donald Samuels of Frankfurt, Germany, whom she raised; granddaughter, Carma Alexander of the home; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; numerous great-great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the church 1-1:55 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service.

ASHEBORO - Colon Coble, 68, of 433 Woodlawn St., Asheboro, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Greater St. Johns Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
He was a native of Randolph County, a 1952 graduate of Central High School and of LaRose Watch Repair School, a retired building contractor, a member of the Eastside Development Association and a former deacon at his church. He was a member and former president of the Asheboro NAACP and a member of Asheboro Odd Fellows Lodge. He received an award by the GWCCEC (George Washington Carver Community Enrichment Center) for his community service.
Surviving are wife, Linda Hill of Asheboro; daughters, Denise C. Davis of Charlotte, Vanessa C. Frasier of Greensboro; stepson, Michael Davis of Morgantown, W.Va.; sister, Hazel Goldston of Asheboro; one grandson.

She was a native of Roanoke, Va., the widow of Woodrow Wilson King and a member of Central Wesleyan Church. She retired from Burlington Mills after 40 years.

He was a native of Davidson County, a retired employee from Drexel Heritage Furniture and a farmer.

He was a native of Guilford County and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired in 1982 from Amos Hosiery after 28 years and was involved in the organization of Greenwood Hills Wesleyan Church in 1959 and served as secretary and church clerk. He was also a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class at Hayworth Wesleyan Church.
Surviving are wife, Aldine Linthicum of the home; daughters, Pamela Gilbert, Bonnie Hedgecock, both of High Point; son; Ricky (Eric) Hicks of Asheboro; sister, Rachel Hicks of High Point; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
