Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Johnny R. Henderson and the Rev. Lee Ziegler officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors.
He was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Navy veteran, a member of Cross Road Baptist Church, a retired worker from Guilford Dairy and had been a trainer of the Field Trial Beagles for many years.
Surviving are wife, Arlene Craven Gibson of Asheboro; son, Eric Todd Gibson of Ramseur; sisters, Fleta Albright, Marie Cox, both of Ramseur; brother, Harold Gibson of Grays Chapel; one granddaughter; two stepgrandchildren; one great-granddaughter.
The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

LIBERTY - O.D. "Doc" Phillips, 92, of 404 E. Starmount Ave., died Friday, Aug. 30, 2002, at SunBridge Care and Rehabilitation Center, Siler City.
Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Alamance County, a retired salesman and a U.S. Naval Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Surviving are wife, Christine Coble Phillips of the home; daughter Faye P. Foster of Charlotte; two grandchildren.

DENTON - Jonathan Darrell "Johnny" Pierce, 33, of N.C. 109 South, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002.

He was a native of Rowan County and was a self-employed painter.

He was a native of Chatham County, a welder and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

SILER CITY - James Jonathan "Shag" Johnson, 75, of The Laurels of Chatham, Pittsboro, formerly of Siler City, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.
Memorial service will be 8 p.m. Tuesday at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with the Rev. John R. Bouldin Jr. officiating. A private graveside service will be at Oakwood Cemetery.
He was a native of Chatham County, a member of Oakley Baptist Church, a charter member of the Moose Lodge and Optimist Club in Siler City, an honorary Paul Harris Fellow and an employee of Bill's Good Food for 43 years.
Surviving are daughters, Margaret R. Jones of Graham, Linda J. Williams, Glenda J. Branson, both of Siler City, Brenda J. Hadley of Snow Camp; sons, Charles J. Johnson of Bear Creek, Mark A. Johnson of Asheboro; brother, Bobby Petty of Fort Walden Beach, Fla.; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Montgomery County and a former employee of Capel's of Troy.

He was a native of Randolph County, a retired farmer and a veteran of World War II, serving in the European Theater.

She was a native of Davidson County, the widow of Fletcher King Harris, had worked in various hosiery plants in Winston-Salem, High Point, Asheboro and Lexington, and was a member of the Senior Citizens club at her church.
Surviving are son, Dr. James Fletcher Harris of Virginia Beach, Va.; daughters, Betty H. Gay of Silver Spring, Md., Ann H. Albin of Bethesda; sisters, Lenora Sowers, Grace Futrell, both of Lexington, Edna Barnes of Winston-Salem; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren.
