Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Southside Cemetery, Troy, with the Rev. Mike Elliott officiating.
She was a native of Montgomery County, a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a homemaker.
Surviving are son, Carson Hurley of Greensboro; sister, Erline Morgan of Candor; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
There will be no visitation.

STAR - Cletus Francis Dunn, 74, of 327 Freeman St., died Wednesday, Sept. 25, 2002, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at New Hope Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gene Davis officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Montgomery County.
Surviving are sons, Randy Dunn of Garner, Tim Dunn of Asheboro; daughters, Patricia Jordan and Pam Moore, both of Asheboro; sister, Viola Williams of Asheboro; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

STAR - Emily Monroe Thomas, 94, formerly of Star, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at Sardis Oaks Nursing Home, Charlotte.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Star United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. David C. Hutchins and the Rev. Jim Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Montgomery County.
Surviving are son, L. Merle Thomas of Charlotte; sisters, Hesther M. Kearns of Charlotte, Marjorie Jeffreys of Mebane; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

ROBBINS - Ollie Webster Hussey, 100, of 123 Hussey Road, died Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2002, at Pinelake Health and Rehabilitation, Carthage.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Smyrna United Methodist Church where he was a member, with the Rev. Joseph Forbes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Moore County and a retired worker from Carthage Fabrics.
Surviving are son, James C. Hussey of Robbins; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.
The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, other times at the home of the son.

He was a native of Moore County, a widower of Susan Bean, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a member of the Merritt Sunday School Class, a lay member to the Methodist Conference, a member of the administrative board at his church and an Honorary Assistant Ranger with the American Boy Scouts.
Surviving are wife, Georgia Richardson Bean; daughter, Teresa Campbell of Carthage; brothers, O. Edward Bean of Adams, Tenn., Ray Bean, Franklin Bean and Kelly Bean all of Seagrove; sister, Jaxie B. McNeill of Seagrove; three grandchildren.

She was the widow of Joe Bill Snow, a native of Randolph County and a member of Browers Wesleyan Memorial Church.

He was a native of Randolph County and retired from Weiman Furniture Manufacturing.

SURFSIDE BEACH, S.C. - R. Hank Preslar, 48, formerly of Asheboro, died Thursday, Sept. 26, 2002, at Grand Strand Regional Hospital, Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Union Presbyterian Church, Carthage, with the Rev. William A. Stewart Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with Masonic graveside rites.
He was a native of Moore County, where he was a former forest ranger, and retired from Eveready Battery in Asheboro. He was a volunteer fireman in Randolph County, worked at Ocean Lakes Campground in Myrtle Beach, where he was in the Myrtle Beach rescue squad. He was a member of Asheboro Masonic Lodge #699 A.F. & A.M. and a past worthy patron of the Order of the Eastern Star chapter 210.
Surviving are wife, Dee R. Preslar; daughter, Amber Hancock of Aberdeen; sons, Chris L. Preslar of Seagrove, Derek Allred of Asheboro; mother, Linda C. Preslar of Carthage; sisters, Brenda Bailey of Carthage, Melinda Reese of Laurinburg; four grandchildren.

He was a native of Portsmouth, Va., and a retired Master Sgt. with the U.S. Air Force after 22 years.

He was a native of Atkinson, worked in electrical contracting and motor repair in High Point, Mt. Airy, Lexington, Asheboro and Thomasville, and was an owner of Electric Drives, Inc.

O'Connor of High Point; son, David McRae Henry of Thomasville; sisters, Faye Beach of Richmond, Va., Emily Wilson and Mittie Jane White, both of Archdale, Janie Pierce of High Point; brothers, Edward Henry of High Point, James Henry of Albemarle.

Zelma M. Winfield
WASHINGTON - Zelma Miller Winfield, 100, of 627 W. Main St., died Friday, Sept. 27, 2002, at her home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. William J. Bradbury officiating.
She was a native of Asheboro, the widow of James Bryan Winfield and attended Women's Normal School, (now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro) and Duke University. She was a teacher in the Washington City Schools, the founder of the Washington Garment Co., and operated the Betsy Jane Store. She was in the real estate business, a member of the Carrollton Book Club, on the Historic Bath Commission and named the Beaufort County Democratic Woman of the Year.
Surviving are daughters, Elizabeth W. Sloan of Winston-Salem, Jayne W. Ericourt of Greensboro; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.
The family will be at her home.
