ARCHDALE - Ersia Ann Smith Lockridge, 89, formerly of Archdale, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at Wesleyan Arms Nursing Center.

Private graveside service will be in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

Sechrest Funeral Home, High Point, is in charge of arrangements.

Dora P. Pugh
SEAGROVE - Dora Esther Perkins Pugh, 90, of 3060 Brower Mill Road, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Wayne Wright officiating. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park, Greensboro.

She was a native of Danville, Va., a retired employee of Cone Mills and a member of Kernersville Full Gospel Mission Church.

Surviving are daughters, Gayle Brown of Conway, Ark., Rebecca Saunders of Seagrove; son, Bill McDaniel of Greensboro; sister, Norma Routh of Franklinville; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times al the home of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Saunders, 3060 Brower Mill Road, Seagrove.

Rodney V. Dennis
TROY - Rodney Virgil Dennis, 36, of 6378 Randall Hurley Road, died Monday, Nov. 11, 2002, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Prospect Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Lee Fish, the Rev. Wayne Lisenby and the Rev. Joe Edwards officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church Cemetery, Asheboro.

He was a native of Wake County and a carpet layer.

Surviving are wife, Tina Strider Dennis of the home; sons, Thomas D. Graham and Tyler M. Graham, both of the home; father, Bobby Dennis of Troy; mother, Letha Callicutt of Troy; brothers, Allen Bass and Daniel Callicutt, both of Troy; sister, Tonya Freeman of Troy.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home.

Edna B. Brandon
CANDOR - Edna Blue Brandon, 85, of Jackson Springs, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at Kingswood Nursing Center, Aberdeen.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, Candor, with Dr. Robert Ramey officiating. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Macedonia United Methodist Church Cemetery, Southmont.

She was a native of Montgomery County, the widow of James E. Brandon, a member of Jackson Springs Presbyterian Church and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughter, Shirley Thomas Kennedy of Kinston; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 10-11 a.m. Friday.

W. Walter Hall
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - The Rev. W. Walter Hall, 86, of Shannondale Retirement Center, Knoxville, Tenn., died Sunday, Nov. 10, 2002.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at New Covenant UCC, Williamsport, Pa. Burial will be in Friends Cemetery, Pennsdale, Pa.

He was the widower of Peggy B. Hall, a minister in the United Church of Christ for 55 years and a former minister with the Asheboro Congregational Church.

Surviving are sons, Walter G. Hall of Sandy, Utah, Dr. Vaughan D. Hall of Knoxville, Tenn., John W. Hall of Crossville, Tenn.; daughter, Margaret H. Fowler of Haines City, Fla.; four sisters; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

Spitler's Funeral Home, Montoursville, Pa., is in charge of arrangements.

Ruby B. Edwards
ASHEBORO - Ruby Virginia Brown Edwards, 89, of Archdale, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Archdale Friends Meeting, with Dr. Mary John Dye and the Rev. Leslie Winslow officiating. Burial will be in Guilford Memorial Park.

She was the widow of Lee Franklin Edwards and attended Spring Garden Friends Meeting in Greensboro, Archdale Friends Meeting and Archdale United Methodist Church, both in Archdale. She was employed with Blue Bell Industries and the Guilford Middle School cafeteria and served as a member of the Archdale Senior Citizens Center.

Surviving is daughter, Ruby Lea Edwards Campo Nicholas of Archdale.

The family will be at Forbis & Dick Funeral Service, Guilford Chapel, Greensboro, 6-9 p.m. Friday.

ASHEBORO - Margaret Elizabeth Craven, 87, of 18 A Hanover Court, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Michael Holder officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, a graduate of Asheboro High School, a retired employee of Martilamy's Dress Shop and a member of First United Methodist Church.

Surviving are sisters, Etta Trexler of Asheboro, Marie Waynick of Greensboro.

The family will be at the funeral home 2-3 p.m. Friday.

She was a native of Randolph County.

Surviving are sons, Jerry Daniel Ridge of Denton, Phillip Bryan Henson of Asheboro, Tyler Maness of Robbins; mother, Berlene Rush Knight of Sophia; sisters, Sandra Rush Knight of Asheboro, Teresa Rush Parrish of Trinity; brother, Ricky Rush of Randleman.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday.

SOPHIA - Mary Lee Crotts Cooper, 81, of 6433 Flint Hill Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at Graybrier Nursing Center.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, with the Rev. Bill Barnes officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Green County, Miss., the widow of William Bryce Cooper, a homemaker and a member of Sophia Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughter, Judy C. Meredith of Sophia; sons, Clyde C. Cooper of Archdale, Roger K. Cooper of Sophia, Gary Arnold Cooper of Lomita, Calif.; sister, Marie Davis of Archdale; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

GREENSBORO - Blanche Broadhurst Hobbs, 87, of 625 Scott Ave., died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002.

Graveside inurnment service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Westminster Gardens.

She was the widow of Walter Turner Hobbs and a member of First Baptist Church and the Bethany Devotion Sunday School Class. She attended Greensboro College.

Surviving are daughters, Martha Cates of Chattanooga, Tenn., Rebecca Harris of Richmond, Va., Barbara Hobson of Asheboro; seven grandchildren; seven great-granddaughters.

The family will be at the home.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Silver Run Christian Church, Monroe, with the Rev. R.A. Morrison and the Rev. E. Grady officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Union County and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughter, Justine H. Johnson of the home; adopted daughter, Jenny Alexander of New Brunswick, N.J.; adopted sons, Freddie Anderson, John Anderson and Richard Anderson, all of New Brunswick, N.J., Al Anderson of Philadelphia, Pa.; one grandson.

The family will be at Farrar Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-8 p.m. Friday.

MT. GILEAD - Sheila Jane Parson, 48, of 125 Whittie Lane, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at her home.

Memorial service will be 6 p.m. Thursday at Center Baptist Church, Candor, with the Rev. Mark Moore officiating.

She was a native of Mecklenburg County, attended Prospect Baptist Church and was a former employee of Candor Hosiery Mill.

Surviving are daughters, Heather P. Hall of Troy, Jamie Watson, of the home; sisters, Vera Parson Smith of Sanford, Sandy Parson of Mt. Gilead; brother, Carl Parson of Troy; three grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Thomas DeBerry, 73, of 505 Meadowbrook Road, Asheboro, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Wesley Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. John Butler officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Asheboro.

He was a native of Anson County and a concrete finisher.

Surviving are daughters, Kim L. McMasters, Tearesa Baldwin and Josephine Smith Jones, all of Asheboro, Bertina Lynn and Djuana Hallmon, both of Durham; sons, Jeffery McClain of Roanoke, Va., Thomas DeBerry of Asheboro; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 1-2 p.m. Saturday, prior to the service.

KERNERSVILLE - Inez Weede Brown, 77, of 212 Vandyke St., died Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2002, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Main Street United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Plymouth, the widow of Frederick L. Brown Sr. and former manager and operator at United Telephone in Fuquay-Varina. She was retired from the Kernersville Finishing Operation of Burlington Industries and served as a member of the Heritage Club, the Sunday School class and Women's Circle at her church. She was a volunteer for the Shepherd's Center of Kernersville.

Surviving are sons, Frederick Lamar Brown Jr. of Marietta, Ga., Norman Thomas Brown of Wake Forest, Joel Franklin Brown of Asheboro; brother, Joe T. Weede of Fuquay-Varina; sister, Lovejoy W. Ward of Burlington; seven grandchildren.

The family will be at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, Kernersville, 6-8 p.m. Friday.

TROY - J.C. Callicutt Sr., 72, of 986 Horseshoe Bend Road, died Thursday, Nov. 14, 2002, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Callicutt Chapel Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Faron Overton and the Rev. Toney Parsons officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Montgomery County and a saw mill worker.

Surviving are wife, Peggy Harris Callicutt of the home; son, J.C. Callicutt Jr. of Troy; mother, Edna Thompson Callicutt of Troy; brothers, Bill Callicutt of Troy, Willie Callicutt and Bobby Callicutt, both of Asheboro, Hal Callicutt of Star; sister, Ruby Phillips of China Grove; three grandchildren.

DENTON - Randy Dean Cross, 41, of South Main Street Extension, died Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2002, in Randolph County.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Friday at Grubbs Grove Original Covenant Church of God, with the Rev. Lacy Cagle officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Davidson County and a logger.

Surviving are mother and stepfather, Ruth and Larry Hogan of Denton; sisters, Wanda C. Tysinger and Tammy C. Turner, both of Denton, Kathy C. Sanders of Leland; stepbrothers, Dennis Hogan of Denton, Tony Hogan of Forest City.

The family will be at the church 2-4 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, other times at the home of the mother, 7406 Checkmark Road, Denton.

Patrick G. McKenzie Jr.
WEST END - Patrick G. "Pete" McKenzie Jr., 68, of 817 Doubs Chapel Road, died Thursday, Nov, 14, 2002, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Doubs Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Eric Joyce officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County, the widower of Blanch Marie Cochran McKenzie and a retired maintenance supervisor from the N.C. Department of Correction.

Surviving are son, Landon McKenzie of West End; daughter, Dorothy Jones of West End; mother, Mary M. Ritter McKenzie of Ellerbe; sisters, Brenda Fields of Statesville, Marcia Fowler of Pinebluff; brothers, Daris McKenzie of Ellerbe, Dan McKenzie of Durham, Ronald McKenzie and Larry McKenzie, both of West End, Irwin McKenzie of Michigan; seven grandchildren.
