She was a native of Asheboro, a Sunday School teacher and secretary of the United Methodist Women at her church and was employed with the Randolph County Schools.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Jackson Springs Community Club and Elberta Masonic Lodge #654 AF and AM, the retired owner/operator of Blake's Grocery Store and the widower of Bonnie Blue Blake.
Surviving are sons, Gene Blake of Nashville, Tenn., Cecil Blake of Jackson Springs and Parks Blake of Cameron; brothers, Elwood Blake of Southern Pines, Harris Blake of Pinehurst and Waylon Blake of Columbia, S.C.; sisters, Lillian Gallimore of Ellerbe, Margaret Payne of Greensboro and Betty McNeill of Candor; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
