ASHEBORO - Grover Arthur Kiser, 55, of 405 Hill St., Asheboro, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at his home.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Marlboro Friends Meeting Cemetery, with Howard Dixon officiating.

He was a native of High Point and of the Quaker faith.

Surviving are brother Marvin Kiser of Randleman; half-brother, Franklin David Kiser of Greenville, Pa.

Memorials may be made to the charity of donor's choice.

Madge H. Nelson
ASHEBORO - Madge Lenora Henson Nelson, 86, of 230 E. Presnell St., Asheboro, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at Asheboro Health and Rehabilitation.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Lambeth-Troxler Funeral Home, Greensboro, with the Rev. Nellie Bescher officiating. Burial will be in Westminster Gardens.

She was a native of Randolph County and a past member of First Baptist Church, Greensboro.

Surviving are daughters, Margaret Parker and Lou Mercil; son, Andy Nelson; sister, Margaret Robertson.

The family will be at the funeral home 1-2 p.m. before the service.

Herbert M. Stout
RAMSEUR - Herbert Mack Stout, 89, of 7558 Old Siler City Road, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with the Rev. Bob Boyd officiating. Burial will follow in Holly Springs Friends Meeting Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a farmer and a retired worker from Gold Kist Hatchery. He was a member of Deep River Baptist Church.

Surviving are daughter, Mary Sue Gilmore of Ramseur; sisters, Edna Craven and Virginia Overman, both of Siler City.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, other times at the home.

Judi Koski
STALEY - Judi Koski, 59, of Staley, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at her home.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Dovin Funeral Home, Lorain, Ohio, followed by mass at 11 a.m. at Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church, where she was a member, with Father Robert Glepko officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.

She was also a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and a member of the United Auto Workers Union Local 2000.

Surviving are son, Jeff Koski of London, Ontario; daughters, Cathy Kirkman of Staley, Cindy Cogar of Sheffield Village; mother, Ida Bodnar of Lorain; brothers, Jack J. Bodnar of Staley and Bob M. Bodnar of Lorain; sister, Darla A. Trepoy of Lorain; eight grandchildren.

Helen J. Patterson
LIBERTY - Helen Johnson Patterson, 95, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Carol Lee Family Care Home.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Steve Johnson officiating.

She was a member of the Eastern Star and the widow of James Richard Patterson.

The family will receive friends following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 220, Liberty, N.C. 27298.

Lacy W. Heritage Jr.
SILER CITY - Lacy Walker Heritage Jr., 76, of 863 Mt. Vernon Springs Road, died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Vernon Springs Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, with Dr. Cecil Callis officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County, a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a retired barber with City Barber and Style Shop.

Surviving are wife, Ruby Tysor Heritage of the home; sister, Betty H. Fox of Siler City.

The family will be at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

John O. Callicutt
STAR - John O. Callicutt, 47, of 453 Mabe Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Star House of Praise, with the Rev. Phil Staton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Montgomery County and a former supervisor at Montgomery Hosiery.

Surviving are wife, Brenda Callicutt of the home; daughters, Dianna Callicutt, of the home, April Callicutt of Greensboro, Amy Williams of the home; son, Jonathan Callicutt of the home; mother, Versie Callicutt of Star; brothers, Jimmy Callicutt and Buddy Callicutt both of Star; sisters, Joann Graves of Tenn., Gladys Harrison of S.C., Kathy Lineberry and Jane Callicutt, both of Seagrove and Becky Callicutt of Star; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Bessie P. Foster
CARTHAGE - Bessie Person Foster, 84, of 116 Glendon Road, died Sunday, Dec. 1, 2002, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Funeral service is 1 p.m. Friday at John Hall Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Joseph Thompson and the Rev. Vernard Dowdy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County and the widow of Harvey Foster Jr. She retired from FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital as a nursing assistant.

Surviving are daughter, Dorothy F. Atkins of Carthage; sisters, Maude Elliott of Carthage, Lissie McLaughlin of Sanford, Nealie Gage of Cleveland, Ohio, and Emma Thomas of Southern Pines; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

DENTON - J. Wade Shaw, 84, of Cap Ingram Road, Lexington, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Rowan Regional Medical Center, Salisbury.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Floyd Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Fred Miller and the Rev. Tommy Floyd officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and a retired worker from Lexington Furniture Industries, Plant 72.

Surviving are wife, Dorothy Smoak Shaw of the home; sons, Danny W. Shaw of Denton, Ollie W. Shaw and Tony D. Shaw, both of Lexington, Frank Shaw of Thomasville; daughter, Kathy S. Williams of Lexington; sisters, Dean Lowder of Albemarle, Ruby Buchanan of Hickory; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6-8 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

Victoria F. Lawson
TROY - Victoria Faith Lawson, infant daughter of Brian and Jessica Opperman Lawson, of 130 Morton Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at Carolinas Medical Center, Charlotte.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Prospect Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lee Fish officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Surviving in addition to the parents are brothers, Ray Lawson and Samuel Lawson, both of the home; sisters, Charity Lawson and Ruth Lawson, both of the home; grandparents, Gail Opperman of Oscoda, Mich., Carol Dezern of Asheboro, Carl Parson of Troy.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

L. Colon Poe
SILER CITY - L. Colon Poe, 64, of 412 W. Eighth St., died Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with the Rev. Roy Helms and Jeremy Jacques officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County, a mechanic, a farmer and a member of Staley Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Joyce Stalker Poe of Siler City; children, Josh Poe of Staley, Jessie Martin of Liberty, Jeff Gallimore of Durham, Janice Peck, Jeanett Teague, both of Siler City; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

Maxie G. Williams
ROCKY MOUNT - Maxie Bonte Goins Williams, 68, formerly of Asheboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2002, at her home.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Red Oak Cemetery, with Dr. Carleton McKita officiating.

She was a native of Thomasville and the widow of Dr. Hugh Russell Williams. She attended Lees-McRae College, was formerly employed as a records librarian at Charlotte Memorial Hospital and was a member of Englewood Methodist Church and the Joy Circle Group.

Surviving are son, Larry K. Williams of Seattle, Wash.; daughter, Dr. Terri L. Williams of Tewksbury, N.J.; sister, Helen Kluttz of Asheboro; three grandchildren.

Wheeler and Woodlief Funeral Home, Rocky Mount, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Englewood United Methodist Church, Maxie and Hugh R. Williams Fund for Cancer Research and Care, 300 S. Circle Drive, Rocky Mount, N.C. 27804.

ASHEBORO - Darrell Anthony Manuel, 41, of 3063 Brookside Court, Asheboro, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, of the Baptist faith and retired from SuperBrand in High Point.

Surviving are wife, Laura Hewette Manuel; son, Dustin Andrew Manuel of Ramseur; stepdaughter, Melanie Small of Thomasville; stepson, Jason Small of Thomasville; sisters, Donna Christmas and Melba Hasty, both of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Theresa Lopez of Raleigh; brother, Donald Manuel Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

Tina J. Jester
TRINITY - Tina Julian Jester, 34, of 3534 Thayer Road, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ken Evans officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion United Methodist Church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Surviving are husband, Travis Lee Jester of the home; daughter, Brandi Dawn Frazier of the home; son, Terry Lee Frazier Jr. of the home; father and stepmother, William Julian and Ann Julian of Level Cross; sisters, Ginger Granaman of Mocksville, Candi Posey of Alabama, Debbie Julian of Level Cross; brothers, Kenneth Bullins Jr. of Georgia, Chad Julian of Level Cross.

Ruby C. Bowman
JULIAN - Ruby C. Bowman, 92, of 7037 Hemphill Road, died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, with the Rev. Fred Hardin Jr. and the Rev. Bud Rowe officiating. Burial will be in Tabernacle United Methodist Church cemetery.

She was a native of Guilford County, the widow of James C. Bowman and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughters, Clara Holder and Lucy Trotter, both of Asheboro, Mary Lee Pike of Liberty; sons, Gurney Bowman of Climax, Troy Bowman of Randleman, Roy Bowman of Julian, Billy Bowman of Greensboro; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Saturday.

Brown Lane
SILER CITY - Brown Lane, 83, of 522 West Elk St., died Thursday, Dec. 5, 2002, at Chatham Hospital, Inc.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Oakwood Cemetery, North Chatham Avenue, Siler City, with the Rev. Jim Wall officiating.

He was a native of Chatham County, a member of First Baptist Church, a graduate of the Kentuck Military Institute and was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran.

Surviving are wife of 58 years, Emmie Dark Lane of Siler City.

The family will be at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 3-5 p.m. Sunday.

He was a native of Davidson County, a farmer and retired from Nolan Reid Manufacturing Co.

Surviving are wife, Rachel Hughes Gallimore of the home; sisters, Emma Lou Tartaglia and Grace Davis, both of Denton.

DENTON - Madeline Stogner Knight, 80, of Denton Road, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Lexington Memorial Hospital.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Monday at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, with the Rev. Vern Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

She was a native of Davidson County, the widow of Earl L. Knight Sr. and had worked as a certified nursing assistant at Hilton Head Hospital. She was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church in Columbia, S.C., attended First Baptist Church in Denton and worked with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts in Columbia.

Surviving are sons, Earl Knight Jr. of Denton, Jimmy Knight of Rock Hill, S.C.; daughters, Grace Knight and Renee Allaire, both of Lawrenceville, Ga.; brothers, John P. Stogner Jr. of Tyro, Paul Stogner of Lexington, Jack Stogner of Spring Lake, Charles Stogner of Burlington; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.
