SILER CITY - Eulala Agnes Lewis Johnson, 89, of 601 Flint Ridge Road, died Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at SunBridge Care Facilities, Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Wesleyan Church, Siler City, where she was a member, with the Rev. Kevin Stumbo and Rev. Ronald Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Wesleyan Church Cemetery, Snow Camp.

She was a native of Danville, Va., a member of the Ladies Bible Class and a Sunday school teacher at her church and a member of Silk Hope Homemakers Club.

Surviving are husband, Hugh M. Johnson of Siler City; daughter, Debbie J. Patterson of Winston-Salem; sons, Larry K. Johnson of Asheboro, Donald H. Johnson of Siler City, Gerald W. Johnson of Greensboro; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, is in charge of arrangements.

Edith N. Dockery
MT. GILEAD - Edith Ophelia Nicholson Dockery, 74, of 3694 N.C. 109 South, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at Piney Grove Free Will Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in Oliver Grove Baptist Church cemetery.

She was a native of Richmond County, the widow of Joseph T. Dockery and a member of Oak Ridge Chapter #547 Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are sons, Allison Dockery of Lexington, Joel R. Dockery of the home; daughters, Sharon D. Leake of Charlotte, Lory D. Johnson of Milwaukee, Wis.; brothers, Fairley Nicholson of Washington, D.C., Bloise Nicholson of Long Island, N.Y.

The family will be at the church noon-1 p.m. Friday, prior to the service.

Harris Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead, is in charge of arrangements.

Ruth D. Aiken
SNOW CAMP - Ruth Ashley Day Aiken, 95, formerly of Pleasant Hill Church Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at Edgewood Place, Burlington.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Pleasant Hill Christian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Howard Spray officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Person County and the widow of Arvin Day and Carl V. Aiken. She attended Pineland College in Pineland, was a teacher at the former Oakdale School in Liberty and a member of the Ladies Sunday School Class and the Women's Fellowship at her church. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Burlington where she was a Sunday school teacher, pianist and choir member and a retired employee of Burlington Industries.

Surviving are son, Robert "Bob" Harrison Day of Burlington; sisters, Maude Watson, Daisy Wrenn, Lucy Hinshaw, all of Snow Camp, Elsie Andrews of Burlington; brothers, Alva Ashley and J.J. Ashley Jr., both of Snow Camp; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the church following the service, other times at the home of Robert Day, 235 Bryan St., Burlington.

Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, is in charge of arrangements.

Charles B. Lee
ASHEBORO - Charles Bryson Lee, 57, of 406 Callicut Street, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at his home.

Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Hartsell Funeral Home Chapel, Concord, with Pastor Steve Pennington officiating.

He was a native of Houston, Texas, and was an employee of Petty Enterprises.

Surviving are wife, Trudy Lee, of the home; daughters, Megan Lee of the home, Dawn Lee, Tracy Lee and Jenell Lee; son, Charles Lee Jr. of Stanfield; sisters, Karen Morton of Pine Bluff, Ark., Verona Payne of Houston, Texas, Sharon English of Alabama; one grandchild.

The family will be at the funeral home following the service.

Beda G. Lewallen
ARCHDALE - Beda Gray Lewallen, 83, of 5188 Ridgeview Drive, died Saturday, Dec. 7, 2002, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pine Grove Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Davis Owens officiating. Burial will follow in Marlboro Friends Meeting Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, a member of Serco Club and the widow of Bertie Lawrence Lewallen.

Surviving are daughters, Dolores Marshall of Sophia, Linda Watts of High Point and Caroline Owens of Lacey, Wash.; brothers, Orville Gray and Richard Gray, both of Archdale; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Cumby Family Funeral Service, Archdale, 7-8:30 p.m. Friday.

C. Harvey Hill
STALEY - C. Harvey Hill, 82, of 5165 U.S. 421 North, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Sandy Creek Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County and was retired from Boling Chair Company after 45 years of employment.

Surviving are wife, Mary Lee Hill, of the home; daughter, Carol H. Metheny of Greensboro; sisters, Dorothy Horne and Edna Wilkie, both of Siler City; brother, Wade Hill of Siler City.

The family will be at the church fellowship hall following the service.

SILER CITY - Anna Faye Lowe Stout, 59, of 410 Gilliland Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Smith and Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with the Rev. John Goss and the Rev. Darrell Garner officiating.

She was a native of Chatham County and a member of Light House Freewill Baptist Church.

Surviving are husband, Earle Stout of Siler City; daughters, Lisa S. Maness of Bennett and Cherie S. Bowman of Siler City; mother, Margaret Eula Lowe of Siler City; brother, Gary Elton Lowe of Siler City; sister, Sue L. Cooper of Siler City; two grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday.

ROBBINS - Betty Ray Butler Wallace, 74, of 652 Hemp St., died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Beulah Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Curtis Barbery officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County and worked as a Nurses Aid with Home Health Care.

Surviving are sons, Donald Ray Wallace, Johnny Lee Wallace, David Butler Wallace, all of Highfalls, Roy Newton Wallace of Robbins, Billy Lynn Wallace of Eagle Springs, Chris Allen Wallace of Asheboro; sisters, Viola Monroe and Laura Ann Brady, both of Robbins; brothers, Odell Butler Jr. of Bennett, Dal Alexander Butler of Robbins; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 6-8 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home of Johnny Wallace, 776 George P. Road, Highfalls.

Benjamin S. Stanley
ROBBINS - Benjamin Stephan Stanley, 88, of 111 Green St., died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Calvary Temple Church, Biscoe, where he was a member, with the Rev. Lonnie Poole and the Rev. Ralph Shelton officiating. Burial will follow in the Star House of Praise Cemetery, Star.

He was a native of Montgomery County and was a retired meat cutter with The Shopping Cart.

Surviving are wife, Frances Marley Sheffield Stanley, of the home; sons, Benjamin S. Stanley Jr. of Asheboro, Russell Lee Stanley of Alabama, Steve Stanley of Vass; daughter, Sandra K. Bolton of Greensboro, stepdaughter, Lois Sheffield Ritter of Seagrove; sister, Hazel Brady of Siler City; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Robert A. McCallum
CANDOR - Robert Alexander McCallum, 86, of 143 Privette Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at his home.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Candor Cemetery with Masonic Rites with the Rev. Bill Mitchell officiating.

He was a native of Montgomery County and was a member of Candor United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran where he received the Silver Star. He was the retired owner/operator of McCallum Supply for over 40 years, a member of Biscoe Lodge #437 A.F. & A.M. and a tree farmer.

Surviving are wife, Annamarie Schelle McCallum, of the home; sons, Swede W. McCallum and Steve A. McCallum, both of Candor; brother, Neal P. McCallum of Bradon, Fla.; six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at the home.

Peggy L. Moffitt
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Peggy Lemmons Moffitt, 71, died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Culley's Meadowwood Funeral Home, Timberlane Road Chapel, Tallahassee, Fla. Burial will be in Culley's Meadowwood Memorial Park.

She was a member of Crawfordville United Methodist Church and a retired insurance agent with the Corporate Risk Management Services, Inc. She served as past Matron of the Eastern Star, a member of the Odd Fellows and past Mother Advisor of the Rainbow Girls.

Surviving are husband, Joseph "J.D." Moffitt of Crawfordville, Fla.; daughters, Carol Moffitt Davis of Crawfordville, Fla., Peggy J. Moffitt of Havana, Fla.; brother, Roger P. Lemmons of Kannapolis; sisters, Helen L. Brady of Newport News, Va. and Rebecca L. VonCannon of Asheboro; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home, Riggins Road Chapel, 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

Pauline W. Craven
ASHEBORO - Pauline Wilson Craven, 83, of 911 Fox Fire Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with Ben Harrell and Michael Moody officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Chatham County, retired from Chatham Hospital and attended Ramseur Gospel Chapel.

Surviving are daughter, Rita C. Chaney of Asheboro; brother, A. K. Wilson of Ramseur; sisters, Lillian Wilson Brewer, Louise Wilson Grimes, both of Ramseur, Mazie Wilson Craven, Daile Wilson Moody, both of Asheboro; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Cope Branch, Ky., the widow of John J. Brigner and attended Miracle Missions Church in Madison Township, Ohio.

Surviving are daughter, Rosemary Moore of Randleman; son, Vernon A. Brigner of Ansonia, Ohio; sisters, Mary Reynolds of Ft. Recovery, Ohio, Nerva Barrett of Booneville, Ky., Ida Neace of Jackson, Ky.; brothers, Weldon Gross, James Gross, Elisha Gross, all of Jackson, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

She was a native of High Point and the widow of Albert B. Lockhart.

Surviving are sons, Albert B. Lockhart Jr. of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Gary G. Lockhart and James E. "Jim" Lockhart, both of Trinity, Joel C. Lockhart of Lexington, Roger L. Lockhart of Archdale; sister, Notre Lockhart of Trinity; brother, Johnny Kimball of High Point; 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Asheboro, a U.S. Air Force veteran and an electrician with A.M.F.C of Covington, Ga. He was a member of Presbyterian Church of Rossiter, Pa., a member of the B.P.O. Elks #301 & F.O. Eagles #1231 of Punxsutawney and a member of the American Legion, AmVets and Loyal Order of Moose, all of North Carolina.

Surviving are wife, Virginia "Jeanie" Reeder; daughter, Tammy Reeder of Hobe Sound, Fla.; stepsons, Dennis Frazier of Salamanca, N.Y., Troy Frederick of Cranberry Township, Pa.; stepdaughter, Tonya Reitz of Rossiter, Pa.; sisters, Jean Currie, Vivian Parks, Lois Hayes, all of Asheboro; brothers, Winford Reeder and David Reeder, both of Asheboro.

She was a native of Wadesboro, the widow of Jack Hasty and a retired employee of Stedman Manufacturing. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and a member of the Blanche McGlohon Sunday School Class and Circle #3 at her church.

Surviving is son, James "Jimmy" Hasty of Asheboro.

The family will be at the church following the memorial service.
