Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Randolph Memorial Park, with the Rev. Roy Grigsby officiating.
He was a native of Randolph County and a retired employee of Klopman Mills after 40 years.

ASHEBORO - Lewis Majellan Moffitt, 82, of 675 Moffitt Road Ext., Asheboro, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at New Union United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Jean Nall and the Rev. Lee Roy Hunt officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
He was a native of Randolph County, the retired co-owner of Asheboro Well Co. and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are wife, Lillian Louise Ledwell Moffitt of the home; daughter, Carol M. Kuykendal of Apex; son, Bobby Lawrence Moffitt of Asheboro; sister, Martha Laughlin of Asheboro; brother, Joe Moffitt of Asheboro; five grandchildren.

HIGH POINT - Elona Lilly Graves, 73, formerly of Astor Dowdy Apts., died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at the home of her daughter, 1607 Lazy Lane.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Asheboro Church of God of Prophecy, Asheboro, where she was a member, with Bishop Barney Trogdon officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park, High Point.
She was a native of Mt. Gilead and the widow of Nathaniel Graves. She attended William Penn High School, was a retired employee of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. in Washington, D.C. and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and the Fellowship Band at her church.
Surviving are sons, Curtis Lilly and Larry Graves, both of High Point, Michael Graves of Greensboro, Danny Graves of Asheboro; daughters, Patricia Thomasson of Absecon, N.J., Brenda Millner of Danville, Va., Saundra Chapman of High Point, Freda Sinclair of Rialto, Calif., Jeanie Graves of San Francisco, Calif.; sister, Faye Lilly Robinson of High Point; 27 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

LIBERTY - Vira Raynor Neal, 89, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, in Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Fairview Cemetery, with the Rev. Stephen Johnson and the Rev. Bill Bigham officiating.
She was a native of Johnson County, a member of First United Methodist Church and a member of the Bridge Club and Garden Club.
Surviving are daughters, Ann Llewellyn of Durham, Sue Weed of Greensboro; sons, Dr. Walter Neal of Lumberton, Jim Neal of Liberty; sisters, Vestal Aiken of Richmond, Va., Edna Matthews of Coats; brother, Dallas Raynor of Richmond, Va.; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Chatham County, a former elder and member of the William Penn Sunday School class at her church and a member of Big Meadows Homemaker Extension Club and Chatham County Cancer Support Group.

She was a native of Jones County, a retired seamstress, a retired employee of the Mt. Gilead Elementary School Cafeteria and a member of First United Methodist Church in Swansboro.

He was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II and was of the Methodist faith. He was the former owner of Phillips Oldsmobile-Cadillac, a former trustee of Randolph Community College for 17 years and a member of the Foundation Board of Randolph Community College.
Surviving are wife, Phyllis Nelson Phillips; sons, Brad Phillips of Asheboro and David Phillips of Las Vegas, Nev.; two grandchildren.

RANDLEMAN - Elizabeth "Lib" Swaim, 86, of 111 Shaw St., died Monday, Dec. 16, 2002, at her home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. H. Kyle Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Level Cross United Methodist Church Cemetery.
She was a 1933 graduate of Randleman High School and attended Greensboro Woman's College, now the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She was formerly employed with Commonwealth Hosiery Mill and Laughlin Hosiery Mill and served as mayor of Randleman for five terms. She was the 1989 recipient of the Athena Award from the Asheboro/Randolph Chamber of Commerce.

LEXINGTON - John Harlen Hedrick, 88, of Becks Nursery Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2002, at his home.

He was a native of Davidson County and a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 3074, American Legion Post 8 and Amvets Post 13. He was co-owner of Hedrick Well Drillers.
