Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Community Independent Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. David Davis, the Rev. Melvin Morton and the Rev. Jimmy Shirlen officiating. Burial will be in Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Richard Spencer, a retired employee of Mid-State Plastics and a homemaker.
Surviving are daughters, Edith S. Hussey, Nancy Spencer, both of Seagrove; sons, Paul Spencer of Seagrove, Roland Spencer of Ramseur, Johnny Spencer of Bennett; sisters, Ruby Brown Chriscoe of Seagrove, Annie Brown Chriscoe of Erect; brothers, June Brown of Jugtown, Farrell Brown of Jackson Springs; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

RAMSEUR - Raymond Spencer Brown, 74, of 5577 U.S. 64 East, Lot#16, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002, at Chatham Hospital, Siler City.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Middle Cross Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Brian Smith officiating. Burial will be in Gilmore Memorial Park.
He was a native of Augusta County, Va., a retired employee of Coller Keyworth Inc., and a Korean War U.S. Air Force veteran.
Surviving are sons, James "Pat" Brown of Siler City, Donald Brown of Sophia, Christopher Brown of Randleman; daughters, Audrey Griffin of Ramseur, Marion Presnell of the home; mother, Laura Brown Ramsey of Liberty; 15 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Randolph County and a retired employee of Lorillard Tobacco Co. She attended Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church and Richland Gospel Church.

She was a native of Mt. Airy, the widow of William Edward Vestal, a retired City Clerk of Siler City and a member of First United Methodist Church. She attended the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
Surviving are daughter, Dr. Charlotte Vestal Brown of Raleigh; one grandson.

She was a native of Richmond County, a private duty nurse and a member of Trinity A.M.E. Zion Church, Greensboro.

He was a native of Randolph County, attended Grays Chapel School and owned Big John's Tackle Shop. He was a member of Willow Lane Baptist Church and formerly employed with Asheboro Elastic.

ASHEBORO - Alan Edwin DeRatt Sr., 81, of 1411 Timberlane Road, Asheboro, died Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at Fuquay-Varina.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Mark Hall and Dr. John S. Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors.
He was a native of Mission Ridge, Ga., retired from the N.C. State Board of Health and as an environmentalist/chemist with the N.C. State Rural Water Association. He was a summa cum laude graduate and teacher with Atlantic Christian College, taught radiological math and science at North Carolina State University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a past deacon, teacher and special education outreach director at his church, and a member of the American Legion, Woodmen of the World and Rural Water Association of N.C. He was a member of and instrumental in founding the Waste Water Treatment Plant Operators School of NC and a World War II U.S. Coast Guard veteran.
Surviving are wife, Elizabeth Stokes DeRatt of the home; daughters, Margaret Elizabeth Long of Cary, Linda D. Pucino of Asheboro; sons, Stanley Eugene DeRatt of Charlotte, Alan Edwin DeRatt Jr. of Asheboro; brother, James Harold DeRatt of Stantonsburg; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

She was the widow of W. Stewart Robertson and Manly M. Tate, a retired businesswoman and the owner of Auman-Robertson Construction Co. Inc., and Tate's Crafts Inc. She was a former continuing education instructor at Randolph Community College and a member of Centre Cross Baptist Church.
Surviving are daughters, Susan Dunker of Asheboro, Dr. Barbara Holt of Bristol, Tenn.; sister, Beulah Luck of Asheboro; brothers, Grady Auman, Coy Auman, both of Asheboro; three grandsons; three great-grandchildren.
