Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Muirs Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. John Kale and Norman Smith officiating.
He was a native of Erie, Pa., a former resident maintenance manager at Western Manor Apartments and a graduate of Greensboro College and a 2002 graduate of Duke Divinity School. He was pastor of the Level Cross/Ebenezer United Methodist Church Charge and had delivered the opening prayer in the U.S. Congress in 2000.
Surviving are wife, Tamar Day; daughters, Christina Hooker of Level Cross, Amber Day of the home; son, Brock Day of the home; father, John Day Sr. of Liberty/Level Cross; brother, John Day Jr. of Siler City; sisters, Marcia Day of Level Cross, Patricia Dezern of Greensboro, Gayle Day of Liberty; three grandsons.
The family will be at the church following the service.

ARCHDALE - Michael Robert Nance, 52, of 8822 U.S. 311, died Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Gospel Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Bobby Edwards, the Rev. Frank Gribble and the Rev. Bobby Swaim officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon United Methodist Church cemetery.
He was a native of Asheboro and an employee of Superior Mechanical Inc.

She was a native of Baden County and a homemaker.

He was a native of Sampson County, a member of First United Methodist Church, Taylorsville, and a World War II U.S. Navy veteran.

Dr. Ray M. Hayworth
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. - Dr. Ray M. Hayworth, 65, died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2002.
Memorial service will be 1 p.m. Monday at St. John's Cathedral, with the Rev. John F. Rice and the Rev. George Doebler officiating.
He was a native of Asheboro, a 1955 graduate of Asheboro High School, a 1959 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and where he received his M.D. in 1962. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and attended the University of Tennessee - Memphis for its psychiatric residency program. He was a former staff psychiatrist with the Helen Ross McNabb Center, Knoxville, Tenn., and retired from private practice after more than 20 years. He was on the board of trustees and former interim director of Knoxville Museum of Art, board chairman of Knoxville Community School of the Arts and a board member of the Nature Conservancy. He was the inaugural chair of the board of the visitors of the UNC Department of Psychiatry and former president of the UNC Medical Alumni Association.
Surviving are wife, Teenie Hayworth; daughters, Deborah Carol Hayworth, Leslie H. Johnson, Kathrine H. Sims; son, John C. Hayworth; stepson, Samuel G. Patterson; stepdaughters, Sabrina P. Warner, Christine P. Winter; brother, M. Samuel Hayworth; sister, Sarah H. Davis; 10 grandchildren.

She was an employee of the John Plant in Ramseur for more than 20 years. She attended True Bible Church in Ramseur.

He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of the VFW and Woodmen of the World.

He was a native of Davidson County, a high school English teacher in Benson and an employee in business and administration for Dorthea Dix State Hospital. He retired from Moore Regional Hospital after 23 years, was of the Presbyterian faith and volunteered with Crowder Family Care in Star.
