ASHEBORO - Anna June Smith McDonald, 72, of 642 Vance St., Asheboro, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Lee Lautenschleger officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park.
She was an Alamance County native, an employee of Stedman of Asheboro for many years and the widow of Gilmer Ray "Mac" McDonald.
Surviving are daughters, Sheila M. Wilson of Asheboro and Phyllis Collins of Pleasant Garden; sons, Larry Jester of Ramseur and Pat Jester of Asheboro; stepdaughter, Diane Voncannon of Asheboro; stepson, William Ray McDonald of Asheboro; sister, Margaret Smith of Burlington; brother, Judge Smith Jr. of Burlington; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

ASHEBORO - Lynden Thomas "Beck" Cox, 92, of Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro, and formerly of Franklinville, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at the nursing home.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Robert Dowling officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Ridge Christian Church Cemetery.
He was a native of Ramseur, a member of the Franklinville United Methodist Church and a retired worker from S.E. Trogdon and Sons Construction. He was a Mason, a member of the Hanks Lodge #128 of Ramseur and a past Master. He was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star where he was past Patron of the Weatherly Chapter #271 and a former town board commissioner and mayor of Franklinville. He was instrumental in the formation of Randolph Telephone Membership and served the membership as their first president. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Inez Lawson Cox.
Surviving are wife, Ethel Craven Cox; son, Thomas C. Cox of Sophia; daughter, Jewell Dorsett of Thomasville; stepdaughter, Rebecca Craven of Franklinville; sisters, Pauline Humble of Liberty, Flossie Cox of Ramseur, Margaret Williamson of High Point, Betty Overman of Snow Camp; Peggy Brown of Franklinville, Patty Fowler of Asheboro; brother, Jobe Tate Cox of Ramseur; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 Monday.

RANDLEMAN - Jordon Nichole-Ray Bailey, 6, of 3997 Campfire Road, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Randolph Memorial Park.
She was a first grade student at Randleman Elementary School.
Surviving are parents, Ray and Stephanie Jarvis Bailey; brother, Elijah Bailey of the home; grandparents, Jay Willey of Sophia and Doris Thomas of Randleman.

PONCA CITY, Okla. - Ruby Glenna LaMar Tedlock, 99, of Bartlesville, Okla., died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Shawn Manor Nursing Home in Ponca City.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Grace Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Ponca City, with the Rev. Dr. J.D. Ward officiating. Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Nowata Memorial Park Cemetery in Nowata, Okla.
She was a native of Randolph County and the widow of Walter Earl "Ted" Tedlock. She worked at Edwards Apparel Inc. in Bartlesville for over 40 years and was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church.
Surviving are brother, Wayne Leon LaMar of Red Eagle, Okla.; five grandsons; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren.
William P. Hurley
STAR - William Paul Hurley, 76, 1018 Hurley Farm Road, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Monday at Macedonia United Methodist Church, Abner Community, with the Rev. Bill Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Montgomery County and a farmer.
Surviving are brothers, Gene Hurley and Phillip Hurley, both of Star, James B. Hurley of Troy, Noel Hurley of Lancaster, S.C., and Wayne Hurley of Eden; sister, Mildred H. Yongue of Laurinburg.

First Lt. Fred Smith
DENTON - First Lt. Fred Lewis Smith died Sept. 8, 1945, in a military airplane crash in New Guinea at the end of World War II. The plane wreckage was not discovered until 1995 and the Smith Family was notified on Sept. 28, 2001, that Lt. Smith's remains had been identified and would be returned to them for burial.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lineberry United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Dan McClure officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with full military honors.
Lt. Smith was a native of Davidson County, a graduate of Denton High School, Pheiffer College and N.C. State College. His death occurred while he was serving in the U.S. Army Air Force.
Surviving are wife, Annie Dee Roberts of Forest City; sisters, Jettie Smith and Annie Lee Allen, both of Denton; brother, Loy Smith of Trinity.
The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 9:30-10:45 a.m. Wednesday, prior to the service.

GOLDSTON - Hugh Grant Daurity, 86, of 2275 S. Main St., died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Goldston Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. David Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Goldston Cemetery.
He was a Chatham County native and a retired railroad section foreman.
Surviving are wife, Sabra Elkins Daurity of Goldston; daughter, Diane Wallace of Raleigh; sons, Grant Daurity of Sunset Beach, N.C., and Wayne Daurity of Knightdale, N.C.; brother, Harold Daurity of Surfside, S.C.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

TRINITY - Marilyn Brown Phillips, 49, of 5757 Welborn Road, died Sunday, Jan. 5, 2003, at Duke Medical Center.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Green Street Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Dr. Robert Steele and the Rev. Frank Gribble officiating. Burial will be in Fairview United Methodist Church Cemetery.
She was a native of High Point, a graduate of Greensboro Technical Community College with a degree in nursing and an employee at High Point OB-GYN as Dr. Louk's primary nurse.
Surviving are husband, Danny C. Phillips of the home; father, Dennis Brown of Trinity; son, Brian S. Phillips of Thomasville; daughters, Lori Holt of Thomasville, Jennifer Phillips of the home; sister, Martha Johnson of Trinity; brothers, Larry E. Brown and Phillip L. ASHEBORO - Everett P. Dula, 94, formerly of 727 Central Falls Road, Asheboro, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2003, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation of Asheboro.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Edward S. Tapper officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
He was a native of Wilkes County, the widower of Ava Steed Dula, a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. He was formerly employed with Bossong Hosiery and self-employed in the textile machine salvage business.
Surviving are son, William Dula of Asheboro; one grandson.

He was a native of Randolph County and an employee of Donald Sweat Painting.
