GREENSBORO - Paul Daniel Ratliff Jr., died Thursday, Jan. 8, 2003, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Holmes Grove United Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Surviving are wife, Mildred Dick Ratliff; sons, Malcolm Paul Gaither and Ronald A. Davis II; daughters, Myletta Williams and Lisa M. Davis; sister, Priscella Seat; brothers, Mitchell Lee Ratliff, Warren Keith Wilcox, Charles Wilcox, Tony Wilcox, Lamont Wilcox.

Kimes Funeral Service, Liberty, is in charge of arrangements.

Mozelle Horney
FARMER - Rosa Mozelle Horney, 83, formerly of Farmer, died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Farmer United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. J. Harold Hammond officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, a graduate of Farmer High School, retired from Acme-McCrary and in the Farmer Grange.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 4-6 p.m. Sunday.

Memorials may be made to Farmer United Methodist Church, 6127 Old N.C. 49, Denton, N.C. 27239.

Mamie B. Hunt
DENTON - Mamie Lucille Bescher Hunt, 84, of 6692 Farmer Denton Road, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Lee Green officiating. Burial will be in North Bend Cemetery, Denton.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Guy L. Hunt, a member of Farmer Baptist Church and the Bischer Chapel area Bible study group and retired from General Electric of Asheboro.

Surviving are son, William Clay Hunt of Asheboro; sisters, Beulah Hinson, Lillian Shanas, both of Asheboro, Kathleen Mccannon of Greensboro; one granddaughter.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

Jim Hulin
DENTON - James Arthur "Jim" Hulin, 96, of Mountain Vista Health Park, formerly of Hulin McDowell Road, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at Mountain Vista.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Piney Grove United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Ray O'Ferrell and the Rev. Lee Roy Hunt officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, the widower of Canara Garner Hulin, a farmer and attended Piney Grove United Methodist Church.

Surviving are sons, Clarence Hulin of Asheboro, Tom Hulin, Holis Hulin, Fred Hulin, all of Denton; daughters, Bessie Parrish of Trinity, Exie Hedrick of Lexington, Alma McDowell, Jacqueline Sexton, Sarah Mullins, all of Denton; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6-8 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Fred Hulin, Hulin McDowell Road.

David Tilley
ELLERBE - David Tilley, 82, of 694 Clayton Carriker Road, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Carter Funeral Home, Ellerbe, with the Rev. George Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Ellerbe Cemetery.

He was a native of Patrick County, Va., the widower of Nettie Puckett Tilley, a member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church and a retired country music entertainer.

Surviving are sons, Ray Tilley of Clemmons, Roger Tilley of Ellerbe; daughters, Mary Jo Rogers of Asheboro, Carolyn Spivey of Ellerbe; brothers, C.L. Tilley of Winston-Salem, Frankie Tilley of Dobson, Butch Tilley of Danbury, Va.; sisters, Geneva Hughes of Germantown, Shirley Johnson of King; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. Sunday, other times at the Spivey Home, 696 Clayton Carriker Road, Ellerbe.

Memorials may be made to American Lung Association or to Parkinson's Disease Research.

Eugene B. Oldham
BEAR CREEK - Eugene B. "Creasey" Oldham, 67, of 12930 Siler City-Glendon Road, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at Chatham Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Faith Baptist Church, Siler City, where he was a member, with the Rev. Harold Fletcher, the Rev. Ken Harris and the Rev. Jack Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Goldston.

He was a native of Chatham County and owner/operator of Eugene Oldham House Movers.

Surviving are wife, Margaret Lefler Oldham of Bear Creek; sons, John "Pedey" Oldham, Bobby Oldham, both of Bear Creek; daughter, Marie O. Scarlette of Bear Creek; brothers, Wayne Oldham, George Oldham, both of Bear Creek, William Oldham of Seagrove; sisters, Ann O. Murry of Longmont, Colo., Linda O. Eastwood of Richmond, Va.; two grandchildren.

The family will be at the home on Sunday.

ASHEBORO - Lietta Faye O'Ham Butler, 64, of 507 Jordan Ave., Asheboro, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Jack Kivett and the Rev. Lee Green officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of High Point, a homemaker and attended the Church of God of Prophecy of Asheboro.

Surviving are husband, Don W. Butler of the home; son, Don W. "D.W" Butler Jr. of Randleman; sisters, Judy O. Crawford of Archdale, Naomi Howard of Elon, Myra Austin of Trinity, Janie Snider of High Point, Rayma Sue Creasey of Denton; one stepgranddaughter; two stepgreat-grandsons.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

BISCOE - Carley Lee Greene, 82, of 113 Nathan Drive, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Robbins Bible Methodist Church, with the Rev. Gary Melchin, the Rev. Thomas Smith and the Rev. Lonnie Poole officiating. Burial will be in the Deaton Family cemetery.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and retired from Burlington Industries.

Surviving are wife, Tessie Allen Greene of the home; sons, AIton Greene and Loren Greene, both of Biscoe; daughters, Linda Kennedy of Asheboro, Wanda Shuping of Biscoe, Vickie Cox of Southern Pines; brother, Jack Greene of El Paso, Texas; sisters, Annie Reynolds of Biscoe, Bertha Howell of Marshville; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 6-8 p.m. Monday.

ASHEBORO - Tracy Fred Cooper, 57, of 1909 Ross Harris Road, Asheboro, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at his home.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Panther Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Ralph Voncannon officiating.

He was a native of Asheboro and an employee of Kayser-Roth Corp.

Surviving are brothers, James Cooper and Bobby Cooper, both of Asheboro, Gene Cooper of Randleman; sister, Edna Voncannon of Pisgah.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Gene Cooper, 4182 Brookwood Acres Drive, Randleman.

ASHEBORO - Floyd Franklin "Frank" Overman, 90, of Asheboro, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Central United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. William Christopher Thore and the Rev. Barry Queen officiating. Burial will be 3 p.m. in Alamance Memorial Park, Burlington.

He was a native of Alamance County, a retired employee of the U.S. Post Office and a member of Bula Masonic Lodge #409 in Burlington.

Surviving are wife, Thelma B. Overman of Asheboro; daughter, Carole O. Davis of Asheboro; sister, Lottie Holt of Asheboro; two grandsons.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Paul N. Tatum
ASHEBORO - Paul Norris Tatum of 1439 Sunset Drive, Asheboro, died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Martha Welch and Dr. J.C. Grose officiating. Entombment will be in Randolph Memorial Park with Police and Military Honor Guard.

He was a native of Danbury and a World War II U.S. Army veteran. He retired as a lieutenant of the Detective Division with the Asheboro Police Department after 28 years and after five years with the Randolph County Sheriff's Department.

Surviving are wife, Mildred Tippett Tatum of the home; sister, Flossie T. Bulla of Asheboro.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7- 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Elmer H. Raby
GREENSBORO - Elmer Hamilton Raby, 88, of Evergreens Nursing Home, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at Wesley Long Community Hospital.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Franklin, the widower of Marie Butler Raby and a retired employee of Laughlin Hosiery Mill, Randleman. He coached Randleman Little League, Pony League and Adult League baseball teams.

Surviving are son, Michael Raby of Randleman; daughters, Sandra Redding and Teresa R. Memory, both of Greensboro; brother, Ray Raby of Robbins; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with the Rev. Timothy A. Howell and the Rev. Darrell Williams officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, Goldston.

He was a native of Chatham County and a retired employee of Liberty Oil Co., Liberty. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are wife, Ruby H. Hammer of the home; son, Garrett Hammer of Siler City; brothers, Leroy Hammer of Goldston, Odell Hammer of Siler City; sisters, Sadie Sizemore of Liberty, Evie Phillips and Bessie Brown, both of Robbins; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
