ROBBINS - Annie R. Davis, 95, of Titusville, Fla., formerly of Robbins, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, in Florida.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Browns Chapel Christian Church, with the Rev. Brady Stephens officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Rockingham, the widow of William Shepherd, Gaston Davis and Igal Williamson, and a retired textile worker.

Surviving are daughters, Nillie Poston of Titusville, Fla., Katie Garner of Siler City, Daisy Britt of Zebulon; 18 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 35 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Bernice L. Thomas
MT. GILEAD - Bernice Lewis Thomas, 78, of 2724 N.C. 109 South, died Friday, Jan. 10, 2003, at her home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mt. Zion A.M.E. Zion Church, where she was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She was a Montgomery County native, the widow of Winfield Thomas and a graduate of Maaco Beauty College in Greensboro. She was a self-employed cosmetologist and proprietor of Thomas Beauty Shop and a former employee of Gilead Manufacturing.

Surviving are sons, Roger Thomas of Oklahoma City, Okla., Robert E. Thomas of Davenport, Iowa, James "Redbone" Thomas and Benjamin L. Thomas, both of Mt. Gilead, Carlos D. Thomas of Winston-Salem; sister, Margaret Lewis Parker of Greensboro; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Harris Funeral Home, Mt. Gilead, is in charge of arrangements.

Clinton E. Batten
RAEFORD - Clinton Eugene "Nood" Batten, 59, formerly of Biscoe, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at Open Arms Retirement.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Gilead, with the Rev. Carl Roger Batten officiating.

He was a Montgomery County native.

Surviving are brothers, Winford L. Batten of Warsaw, the Rev. Carl R. Batten of Springfield, Tenn., Willie L. "Doc" Batten of Leland; sisters, Marion Williamson of Biscoe and Eleanor Brewster of Buckeye, Ariz.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, Tuesday, 7-9 p.m.; other times at 433 Cedar Creek Road, Biscoe.

Walter C. Craven Jr.
ALVIN, Texas - Walter Carr Craven Jr., 79, died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2003, at his home.

Memorial service will be 6 p.m. Tuesday at Scott Funeral Home, Alvin, Texas, with the Rev. Ron Smith officiating

He was a native of Greensboro, a World War II U.S. Merchant Marines veteran and a U.S. Coast Guard veteran. He was retired from the Master & Mates Pilots Union and a member of the Alvin Masonic Lodge and American Legion Post #129. He was of the Methodist faith.

Surviving are wife, Adele Craven of Alvin, Texas; daughter, Candice Howard of Austin, Texas; sister, Jo Anne Lancaster of Asheboro.

Memorials may be made to the Masonic Home & School of Texas, P.O. Box 15040, Ft. Worth, Texas 76119-9971.

Edna M. Roberson
ASHEBORO - Edna Marley Roberson, 90, of 2589 Sparrow Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at the home of her daughter.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Shady Grove United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Roger Green officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving are daughter, Lois Jamison; sisters, Mae Waddell, the Rev. Dora Atlas and Dorothy Murray, all of Asheboro; two grandchildren.

The family will be at C.C. Hodges Funeral Service, 7-8 p.m. Wednesday; other times at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Jamison, 424 Northampton Drive, Asheboro.

Bonnie B. Robbins
ASHEBORO - Bonnie Mae Brantley Robbins, 84, of 811 Uwharrie St., Asheboro, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Carillon Assisted Living.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at West Bend United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. James Purdy, the Rev. David Noyes and the Rev. Billy Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a Randolph County native, a homemaker and the widow of Ralph W. Robbins.

Surviving are daughter, Alma Richardson of Carolina Beach; son, Tommy Robbins of Asheboro; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday; other times at the home.

Jeanette B. Frazier
RAMSEUR - Jeanette Brower Frazier, 91, of 162 Elizabeth St., died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Jordan Memorial United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Mary Miller, the Rev. Ardis Payne and the Rev. Neal Brower officiating. Burial will follow in Rehobeth United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County and a homemaker.

Surviving are stepson, David Frazier of Ramseur; brothers, Bill Brower and Alfred Brower, both of Ramseur, and Jimmy Brower of Siler City; sisters, Mozelle B. Stout of Concord.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday; other times at the home of stepson, David Frazier, 732 Ramseur Julian Road, Ramseur.

Ethel B. Hinshaw
LIBERTY - Ethel B. Hinshaw, 92, formerly of Liberty, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

She was a Randolph County native and a homemaker.

Surviving are son, Leon Hinshaw; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Mary B. Leach
BISCOE - Mary Belle Leach, 88, of 401 Lambert Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Macedonia Presbyterian Church with the Rev. June Manning officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

She was a Montgomery County native.

Surviving is sister, Frances Leach of Biscoe.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 6:30-8 p.m. Wednesday.

MT. GILEAD - Charles William Frix, 73, of Robedo Road, died Monday, Jan. 13, 2003, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Wadeville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lonnie Gibson, the Rev. Gerald Lanier and the Rev. Keith Bumgarner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He was a Pickens County, S.C., native and a co-owner/operator of Frix Brothers Lumber Co.

Surviving are son, Andy Frix of Burlington; brother, Alvin Frix of Mt. Gilead; sister, Dorothy F. Sparks of Mt. Gilead.

The family will be at Wadeville Baptist Church 6-8 p.m. Wednesday; other times at the home of Alvin Frix on Robedo Road. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N. First St., Albemarle, N.C. 28001.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, Seagrove, where she was a member, with B.J. Chriscoe officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of William Leonard Smith and a former employee of Bossong Hosiery Mill and Shelton's Pottery.

Surviving are daughter, Sherri Shelton of Seagrove; sisters, Iris Spivey of High Point, Valda Cranford of Asheboro; one grandchild; two great-grandchildren.

COLERIDGE - McKenna Faith Jessup, infant daughter of Timothy Jessup and Gina Brown Moon of 5208 Old Coleridge Road, Ramseur, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Grove Christian Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Darrell Garner and the Rev. Chris Wood officiating.

Surviving in addition to the parents are brothers, D.J. Allen and Austin Moon, both of Bennett; grandparents, Albert Junior and Brenda Brown of Bennett, Joel and Joan Jessup of Coleridge; great-grandparents, Lillian Ferree Turpin of Bennett, Leon and Bobbie Jessup of Coleridge, Rex and Moncie Wilkie of Bear Creek.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

LIBERTY - Kemp Flavious Ferguson, 82, formerly of Liberty, died Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2003, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Surviving are daughter, Mildred Eiler of Pittsburgh, Pa.; three grandchildren.
