ASHEBORO - Arthur Alanson Bangs, 66, of 818 Sherwood Road, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Winston-Salem.
Funeral service will be 8:30 p.m. today at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Lois Johnson officiating. Burial will be in New Jersey.
He was a Pennsylvania native and retired from Hoffman La Roche in New Jersey. He was a member of Covenant Christian Church. He participated in the Randolph County Senior Games and received a silver medal in horseshoes.
Surviving are wife, Mary M. Bangs of the home; daughters, Sheryle Place of Easley, S.C., Wendy Panelli of Pennsylvania, Iona Rinebold of Easton, Pa., Teresea Wyker of Vienna, N.J.; sons, Judson Bangs and Robert Bangs, both of Easley, S.C.; brothers, George Bangs, John Bangs and Richard Bangs all of Pennsylvania; sisters, Mary Rowe of Franklinville, Annabelle Zahner of Pennsylvania, Betty King and Margie Jackson, both of Texas, Pat Stiffler of Arizona, Gladys Sheets and Rose Rollison both of New Jersey; 19 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home 7-8:30 p.m. today, prior to the service.

Frank R. Bowman
JULIAN - Frank R. Bowman, 89, formerly of Julian, died Thursday, Jan. 16, 2003, at Beverly Health Care in Greensboro.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Macedonia Baptist Church, where he was a lifetime member, with the Rev. David Wood officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He was a Guilford County native, and a deacon and Sunday school teacher at his church for many years. He was a past member of the Julian Lions Club and an active member of the community.
Surviving are wife, Mildred Moore Bowman of Julian; daughter, Jenny Daub of Greensboro; son, Michael Bowman of Dallas, Texas; three grandchildren; sister, Mary Fields Wade of Climax; brother, Joe Harmon of Julian.
The family will be at the church 12:30-2 p.m. Monday, prior to the service.

DENTON - Gracie Cranford Surratt Poe, 91, of Euris Surratt Road, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Stanly Memorial Hospital, Albemarle.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Allegheny United Methodist Church with the Rev. Melvin Morton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She was a Davidson County native and a member of Taylor's Grove Baptist Church. She was a retired employee of the Griffin Clinic where she served as a cook for many years. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Marshall A. Surratt and A.W. Poe.
Surviving is son, Donald Surratt of Albemarle; one grandchild; four great-grandchildren.
The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 5-7 p.m. today; other times at the home.

ROBBINS - Pete Pierce, 83, of Robbins, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at his home.

He was a Cumberland County native and retired from Luck's Food Company, Seagrove.

EAGLE SPRINGS - Charlie McDuffie Bailey, 67, of Parker Road, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

He was a Montgomery County native and was a grocery store clerk.

Wingate W. Harris
CANDOR - Wingate Wooley Harris, 86, of North School Street, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at his home.
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Candor Cemetery with the Rev. Bill Mitchell officiating.
He was a Montgomery County native and a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in the European Theatre of World War II and received the Silver Star and a Purple Heart.
Surviving are wife, Madge Burkhead Harris of the home; son, Robert Wingate Harris of Hendersonville, Tenn.; sister, Doris Burns of Newport News, Va.; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

CARTHAGE - Lonnie Edward Troxler, 73, of 816 Mt. Carmel Road, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2003, at Pinelake Health and Rehab, Carthage.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Bethlehem Baptist Church with the Rev. Ernest Ferrell officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.
He was a Rockingham County native and the widower of Muriel Wallace Troxler. He was a U.S. Marine veteran, a member of the Robbins V.F.W. Post #9245 and a retired supervisor with Carolina Lace Co.
Surviving are sons, Billy Troxler of Carthage and Eddie Troxler of Robbins; daughter, Jenny T. Garner of Robbins; brothers, John Henry Troxler of Carthage and Harvey Troxler, both of Summerfield; sisters, Margaret Booker and Charity Barber, both of Carthage, Lillian Barber of Greensboro, Virginia Verschoore of Taylor Ridge, Ill., and Evelyn Thompson of Troy; six grandchildren.

He was a Randolph County native and was retired from Thomas Furniture Co.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Whitehall Evangelical Methodist Church, with the Rev. Jesse Wallace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Randolph County and had attended Women's College and American University. She retired as a counselor occupational analyst with the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C.
The family will be at the church immediately after the funeral service.

She was a native of Asheboro and a member of Panther Creek Baptist Church.

He was a native of Randolph County, a retired employee of Burlington Industries and a former Sunday School teacher, lay speaker and chairman of the administrative council at his church. He was a member of Balfour Masonic Lodge #188 and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.
Surviving are wife, Alberta Cox Stout of the home; daughters, Glenna Stout of the home, Wanda Stout, Wilma Mollman, Susan Saintsing, all of Asheboro; sisters, Grace Williams, Gladys Paul, both of Asheboro; brother, Carl T. Stout of Asheboro; two grandchildren; one great-granddaughter.
