ROCKINGHAM - Frank Donald Welch, 66, of 106 4th St., Cordova, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, in Rockingham.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pee Dee United Methodist Church with the Rev. Janet Buffaloe officiating. Burial will follow in Zion United Methodist Church cemetery.

He was an Alamance County native and was employed by Sara Lee.

Surviving are daughters, Rachel Lynn Welch of Cordova and Donna Welch Earnhardt of Concord; brother, William H. Welch of Asheboro; sisters, Nancy Welch Dickens of Panama City, Fla., Ann Welch Smith of Snow Camp; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Marks Funeral Home, Rockingham, 7-9 p.m. today.

Memorials may be made to Pee Dee United Methodist Church, U.S. 220 N., Rockingham, N.C. 28379.

Philip E. Brown
NEW BERN - Philip Everett Brown, 72, died Saturday, Jan. 18, 2003, at Craven Regional Medical Center.

Funeral service was 2 p.m. Monday at Garber United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Powell Osteen officiating.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and a graduate of ECU. He worked for GMAC and then served as president of Tryon Chevrolet for 15 years.

Surviving are wife, Mary Phillips Brown of the home; daughters, Judy Elizabeth "Beth" Nicely of Asheboro, Janet Amerson of New Bern, Allison Byrd of Holly Springs; four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to Religious Community Services, 503 Guion Street, New Bern, N.C. 28560 or the charity of donors choice.

Cotton Funeral Home, New Bern, was in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth H. Moore
ASHEBORO - Elizabeth Hartwell Moore, 91, of 1306 Old Cox Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Club House at Cross Road Retirement Center, with Dr. Richard M. Morton officiating.

She was a native of Youngstown, Ohio, the widow of Edwin F. Moore and former owner/operator of Sea Change Antique Shop, Surfside Beach, S.C.

Surviving are daughter, Nancy Morton of Greensboro; sister, Estherlou Economos of Warren, Ohio; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Durham Arts Guild, 120 Morris St., Durham, N.C. 27701.

John A. Parson
ARCHDALE - John Albert Parson, 65, of 4808 Archdale Road, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at St. Peters United Methodist Church, Randleman.

He was a native of Randleman, employed by Randleman Lumber Company and attended St. Peters United Methodist Church, where he served on the usher board. He was a member of the United Methodist Men.

Surviving are wife, Marie Parson of the home; sons, John R. Parson, Craig L. Parson; daughters, Jackie Surgeon, Adrienne Woods, both of Greensboro; stepson, Robert Doby Jr. of DelRay Beach, Fla., Carl Harris of Siler City, Steve Smith of High Point; stepdaughters, Margrette Butler of High Point, Sandra Baxter of Thomasville, Jennifer Gray of Sumter, S.C., Jeanne Harris of Greensboro, Beverly Harris of Kernersville; brothers, Billy Parson of Alexandria, Va., Aaron Parson of Randleman, Allen Parson of Greensboro; sister, Carolyn Clark of Randleman; 21 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the church noon on Saturday.

Eula A. Cook
FRANKLINVILLE - Eula Mae Allred Cook, 78, of 1947 Whites Memorial Road, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2003, at her home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Whites Memorial Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Jeff Joyce officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, a homemaker, a member of the Senior Citizens at her church and a graduate of Grays Chapel High School.

Surviving are husband, Albert L. Cook of the home; sons, Albert Worth "Junior" Cook of Randleman; brothers, Winfred Allred and Millard Allred, both of Cedar Falls, Simon Allred of Franklinville; sisters, Doris Chriscoe of Cedar Falls, Joyce Mainor of Archdale; one grandson.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday.

Brad McNeill
RAMSEUR - Michael Bradley "Brad" McNeill, 25, of 3395 Deep River Church Road, died Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2003, at his home.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Deep River Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Rodney Vickers officiating.

He was a native of Randolph County, a 1995 graduate of Eastern Randolph High School and attended Deep River Baptist Church.

Surviving are mother, Patricia Scott Berry of Liberty; father, Alton Thomas McNeill of Ramseur.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

Rosie S. Hoffman
DENTON - Rosie Lee Shipton Hoffman, 77, of Floyd Church Road, Lexington, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Britthaven of Davidson, Thomasville.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, with the Rev. Clyde Akers officiating. Burial will be in Floyd Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Davidson County, the widow of Raymond Hoffman, a homemaker and a member of Floyd Baptist Church.

Surviving are son, Jack Hoffman of Lexington; daughters, Frances Edwards and Ruby Fritts, both of Lexington; brother, Julius Mozell Shipton of Lexington; sister, Mary Ann Beck of Lexington; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Friday.

PITTSBORO - Alfred Wayne Pugh, 45, of 4357 Silk Hope-Gum Springs Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Sapling Ridge United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Lamont Hemminger officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Guilford County, a farmer and co-owner of Pugh Concerte Company, Pittsboro.

Surviving are wife, Margaret Allison Pugh of the home; daughters, Stacey Allison Pugh and Lindsey Melissa Pugh, both of the home; mother, Peggy Marley Pugh of Pittsboro; brother, Douglas Pugh of Pittsboro.

She was a native of Randolph County and a homemaker.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Lynn A. Auman and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are daughters, Rebecca A. Cox of Asheboro, Emilie A. Harris of High Point; sons, Phillip H. Auman of Seagrove, Doyle W. Auman of Asheboro; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

SILER CITY - Mabin Kelly Jones, 74, of 1800 Will Brown Road, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with the Rev. Kevin Stumbo and the Rev. Dennis Boone officiating. Burial will be in Big Meadows Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Pittsboro.

He was a native of Chatham County, a member of First Wesleyan Church, a poultry farmer and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are wife, Wilma Allen Jones of the home; stepsons, Thomas Hargrove of Goldston, Joe Wright, Horton Wright Jr., both of Siler City, Pete Wright of Pittsboro; stepdaughters, Ann Wilson, Gail Metz, both of Bear Creek; brother, Samuel R. Jones of Siler City; sister, Burnice Shore of Greensboro.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

Geraldine S. Frizzell
TROY - Geraldine Sisk Frizzell, 63, of Ellenboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2003, at Spartanburg General Hospital, Spartanburg, S.C.

Graveside service will be 12:30 p.m. Monday at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Grady Blakely officiating.

She was a native of Brevard and a textile worker.

Surviving are daughters, Mary Volt of Salisbury, Gerry Frizzell of Easley, S.C., Lessie Bost of Ellenboro; sons, Furman Frizzell of Rockingham, Coleman Mack Frizzell of Rockwell, Ernest Carl Frizzell of Ellenboro, Bo Frizzell of Hamlet, Wallace Frizzell of Forest City, Bobby Frizzell of Cullowhee; sister, Mary Louise Sisk of Kannapolis; brothers, Alan Sisk of Salisbury, Harold Sisk of Kannapolis; 24 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
