STAR - Jack Hillary Shore, 76, formerly of Star, died Sunday, March 23, 2003, in Pinehurst Nursing Center.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday in Leach Cemetery, with the Rev. Dan Shore officiating.
He was a native of Guilford County.
Surviving are brothers, Rev. Dan Shore of Denton, Walter Shore of Rockingham
There will be no visitation.

SALEM, Ore. - Harriet Sizemore Miller, 83, of 3795 Bayonne Drive, SE, died Saturday, March 15, 2003.
Memorial service was held 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 18, at Trinity Covenant Church in Salem, Ore.
She was a Randolph County native and a homemaker.
Surviving are husband, Harvey Miller of the home; daughter, Janet O'Connor of Salem, Ore.; stepson, Kenneth Miller of Texas; sisters, Ruth Burgess of Ramseur, Dot Overman of Kernersville; four grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Garland Hubert Jarrell, 72, of 1122 Uwharrie St., Asheboro, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at his home.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Jack Clark and the Rev. Wayne Eller and Paul Trollinger officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
He was a Randolph County native and attended Sunset Avenue Church of God. He was a talented musician and enjoyed country music. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran having served during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans.
Surviving are wife, Doris Clark Jarrell of Asheboro; daughters, Denna J. Coltrane and Linda A. Jarrell, both of Asheboro, Sherlene J. Ferguson of Liberty and Kathy J. Porter of Sophia; sisters, Hazel J. Johnson of Asheboro and Lorene J. Hicks of Greensboro; brother, Roger L. Jarrell of Pleasant Garden; four grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday; other times at the home.

ASHEBORO - Samuel Hall Hayes, 64, of 1028 Garner Farm Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, March 26, 2003, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Sawyersville Wesleyan Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Darrell Rabon officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He was a Davidson County native and owner/operator of R.S. Wholesale in Randleman. He was a U.S. Army veteran and taught Sunday School at his church.
Surviving are wife, Janet B. Hayes; son, Robert "Rob" Hayes of Asheboro; brother, Richard Hayes of Linwood; one granddaughter.

He was a Randolph County native and, a self-employed sawmill operator, and a Deacon at his church.
Surviving are wife, Eula Myers Hughes of the home; daughters, Janie Parsons and Hazel Hughes, both of New London; sisters, Effie Gearren, Mae Hughes, and Beulah Hughes, all of New London; two grandchildren.

He was a Randolph County native, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a retired Flock Supervisor at Perdue Farms.

He was a Moore County native and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was retired from Wall's Radiator Repair, which he owned and operated.
Surviving are wife Edna Solomon Wall; daughter, Judy W. Kelly of Carthage; sisters, Annie Ruth Davis and Verda Hurley, both of Carthage; brother, Alburn Wall of Carthage; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

CARROLLTON, Ga. - Clyde C. "Brother" McCaskill, 85, of 921 Old Newnan Road, died Monday, March 24, 2003.

He was a Montgomery County native, was of the Baptist faith and had worked as a carpenter and a painter. He was the widower of Fronnie Hicks McCaskill.
Surviving are daughter, Dixie Cranford of Carrollton; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Randolph County and a retired employee of Stouts Chair Co.
