ASHEBORO - J. C. Stanton Jr., 87, of 306 Sunrise Ave., Asheboro, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at Universal Health Care of Ramseur.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
He was a native of Clio, S.C., the widower of Edna Rhyne Stanton, a retired independent truck driver and attended Calvary United Methodist Church.
Surviving are daughter, Lu S. Leon of Washington, D.C.; sons, James C. Stanton III of Eatonton, Ga., Tim Stanton of Asheboro; sister, Lucille Lentz of Ellerbe, Bill Stanton of Orange Park, Fla.; five grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Sunday.
Donald H. McKenzie
CARTHAGE - Donald H. McKenzie, 75, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Culdee Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Chris Bobo and the Rev. Darrell Garner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Montgomery County, the widower of Rubye Patton McKenzie, a former employee with Sandavis Construction Co. and Whispering Pines Constuction Co. and former owner of McKenzie Construction Co.
Surviving are sons, David E. McKenzie of Candor, Richard McKenzie and Doug McKenzie, both of Carthage; brothers, Lloyd McKenzie of Morganton, Ga., Lonnie McKenzie of Carthage; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
The family will be at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 6-8 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

Margaret S. Moyer
RANDLEMAN - Margaret Stroble Moyer, 70, of 5203 Fred Lineberry Road, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.
Funeral service will be held at a later date.
She was a native of Arcadia, Fla., of the Catholic faith and a homemaker.
Surviving are husband, Derwin Moyer of Randleman; son, John Allman of Randleman; two grandchildren.
The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 6-8 p.m. Tuesday.
Billy E. Poindexter
RANDLEMAN - Billy Ernest Poindexter, 65, of 139 Melody Lane, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at his home.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. Wayne Pugh officiating. Burial will follow in Deep Rover Baptist Church Cemetery.
He was a Randolph County native, a member of Water Baptist Church and retired from Deep River Dye in Randleman.
Surviving are wife, Mary Emerson Poindexter of Randleman; daughters, Brenda Graham of Lake Tillery, Patsy Ryllis and Penny Spencer, both of Randleman; sons, Wayne Dawson of Randleman, Roger Dawson of Sophia, Ronnie Poindexter of Robbins, Randy Poindexter of Eagle Springs, Ricky Poindexter of Aberdeen, Richard and Rex Poindexter, both of Troy; sisters, Ila Mae Poindexter of North Wilkesboro, Peggy Brown of Bennett, Patsy Rayfield of Concord, Judy Brown and Nancy Staley, both of Ramseur; brothers, Wilbert Paul Kidd Jr. and Donald York both of Ramseur, Terry Kidd and Kenneth Kidd, both of Asheboro, Jerry Wayne Kidd of Berlin, Germany; 27 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren.

LIBERTY - Leola Compton Spray, 89, died Saturday, March 29, 2003.
Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill Christian Church Cemetery, Liberty.
She was a native of Plymouth, Pa., and a homemaker.
Surviving are son, the Rev. Howard Spray of Liberty; two granddaughters; two great-grandchildren.

ROBBINS - Douglas Brewer, 79, of 1323 Browns Mill Road, died Friday, March 28, 2003, at his home.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Browns Chapel Christian Church, with the Rev. Arnold Comer and the Rev. Robert Scott officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He was a Moore County native and was retired from the NCDOT.
Surviving are son, Harold Brewer of Asheboro; daughters, Donna Aycock of Raleigh and Lois Milks of Asheboro; sister, Betty Brewer Williamson of Asheboro; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Monday.
T. Huston Maness
ROBBINS - T. Huston Maness, 81, died Sunday, March 30, 2003, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Ray Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He was a Moore County native, a graduate of Draughon Business College, Winston-Salem, and a retired worker from Millikan Co. He received a plaque from North Moore High School honoring him as their #1 Basketball Fan. He was the widower of Pansy Cockman and Frances Cockman.
Surviving is brother, Lonnie Maness of Carthage.
The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Monday; other times at the home of Lonnie and Shirley Maness, 1553 Borden Road, Carthage.
Allen Blake
CANDOR - Allen James "June" Blake Jr., 82, of North Main Street, died Saturday, March, 29, 2003, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuedsay at Candor Cemetery, with the Rev. Edsel Huffstetler officiating.
He was a Montgomery County native and a member of the Masonic Lodge of Biscoe. He was a disabled World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Surviving are wife, Mabel Daughtry Blake of the home; brother, Colon Blake of Candor.
The family will receive friends at the home.

Samuel L. Jackson Jr.
SALISBURY - Samuel Lee Jackson Jr., 69, of 3583 Sam Jackson Road, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Veteran's Administration Hospital, Durham.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Sherman Waters officiating. Burial will follow in Charlotte United Methodist Church Cemetery.
He was a Randolph County native and was of the Methodist faith. He retired from the U.S. Air Force in 1974 and from the American National Can Co., Winston-Salem, in 1996.
Surviving are wife, Shirley Jackson of Salisbury; daughter, Crystal Cordts of Salisbury; sisters, Helen J. Moore and Sue J. Cheek, both of Asheboro; two grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Monday.

Hazel V. Hardin
GASTONIA - Hazel Voncannon Hardin, 86, of 1062 Paramount Circle, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at her home.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, with Dr. Jody Seymour, Dr. James Westmoreland and the Rev. Susan Heafner officiating. A private graveside service will be held.
She was a Richmond County native and a graduate of Wingate Junior College and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She was a teacher and mentor in both city and county school systems for 38 years. She was active at both First United Methodist Church and First Baptist Church and a life-long member of United Methodist Women. She was the widow of William G. Hardin Jr.
Surviving are son, Bill Hardin of Nashville, Tenn.; daughter, Pat Hardin of Asheboro; brothers, Ed Vuncannon and Bradley Vuncannon, both of Ellerbe; three grandsons.
The family will be at the church to receive friends after the service.

GULF - Burnis Vinson Beal, 84, of 1126-A Gulf Road, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Pinelake Health Care Center, Carthage.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bethany Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Wayne Rigney officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He was a Chatham County native and the widower of Virgie Craft Beal. He was a World War II U.S. Army veteran and had retired from Pomona Pipe.
Surviving are daughter, Deborah B. Cade of Gulf; one grandson.
The family will be at the Smith and Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-8:30 p.m. Monday.
