GREENSBORO - Shirley Lineberry Routh, 87, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Wesley Long Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, North Elm Street, Greensboro. Burial will be in Gray's Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Walter E. Routh and a member of Woodard Memorial Baptist Church. She attended Bessemer United Methodist Church and retired from Cone Revolution Mill.

Surviving are son, Hal Routh of Lexington; daughter, Patsy R. Stephens of Seven Lakes; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.

Memorials may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2211 W. Meadowview Road, Greensboro, N.C. 27407.

SILER CITY - Roland Jesse Fox, 90, of 1869-B Plainfield Church Road, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Hospice of the Meadowlands, Hillsborough.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Pine Hill United Church of Christ, where he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County and a retired employee of Chatham Novelty.

Surviving are daughter, Peggy F. Foxx of Siler City; sons, Mark R. Fox, June T. Fox and Van H. Fox, all of Siler City; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Farrar Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-8 p.m. Sunday.

GREENSBORO - Margaret R. Gray, 75, of 5900 Harvester Drive, died Friday, April 18, 2003, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Rehobeth United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Jack Hileman and the Rev. Ralph Eanes officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Asheboro, a former employee of Sears Mail Order, a retired employee of Rolane Corp., a member of the Summer Gardeners Club and a former carrier for Meals on Wheels.

Surviving are husband, Ralph Gray; sons, James Wesley "Jim" Gray and Jeffrey Lee Gray, both of Greensboro; brothers, Robert Russell of Asheboro, David Russell of Philadelphia, Pa.; sisters, Evelyn Moffitt and Edna Scott, both of Asheboro.

The family will be at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, Vanstory Street, Greensboro, 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

DENTON - Benjamin J. "Ben" Bullard, 67, of East Second Street, died Friday, April 18, 2003, at Thomasville Medical Center.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tom's Creek Primitive Baptist Church, with the Rev. Flynn Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Anson County, of the Baptist faith and a retired employee of American Fence Co.

Surviving are wife, Virginia Hughes Bullard of the home; sons, James Bullard and Benjie Bullard, both of Denton; daughters, Janice Snider of Denton, Melinda Martin of Cleveland, Ohio; brothers, Charlie Bullard and J.W. Bullard, both of Asheboro; sisters, Mary Grace Caudle of Wadesboro, Clara Mae Wilkerson, Betty Lou Hodge and Peggy Bullard, all of Asheboro; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6-8 p.m. Monday, other times at the home.

Ethel E. Taylor
DENTON - Ethel Elliott Taylor, 90, of Loftin Road died Friday, April 18, 2003, at Blue Ridge Health Care of Raleigh.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Lineberry United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Dan McClure, the Rev. Randy Lucas and the Rev. Taylor Mills officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery with the Rev. Sarah Elliott officiating.

She was a native of Davidson County, the widow of Jesse Caswell Taylor, a member of the United Methodist Women at her church, a former cafeteria employee at Denton School and the operator of the Lil' Cabin of Antiques shop.

Surviving are son, Larry Joe Taylor of Madison, Ga.; daughter, Angeline Mills of Raleigh; sister, Verna Garner of Thomasville; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

Larry G. Wright
KERNERSVILLE - Larry Gregory Wright, 56, of 229 Rockford Road, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hayworth-Miller-Cain Funeral Home, Kernersville, with the Rev. Tommy McGhee, the Rev. Jack Waters and Elder Joan Fuller officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Gur Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a U.S. Army veteran, a former senior vice president for Kayser-Roth Corp. and for Shogren Manufacturing in Concord. He worked with the Kernersville Little League and was the co-pastor of Cornerstone Community Church in Kernersville

Surviving are wife, the Rev. Judy Mabe Wright of the home; daughter, Robin W. Denny of Belews Creek; sons, Jon-Paul Gregory Wright of Kernersville, Jason Erin Wright of Clemmons; brother, Dr. Keith Wright of North Myrtle Beach, S.C.; sister, Barbara Mayer of Florida; four grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday in Crossroads Baptist Church, Robbins, with the Rev. Mike Holyfield and the Rev. Jacob Camp officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She attended Emmanuel Outreach of Ash and was employed in sales.

Surviving are husband, Eugene D. Glover of the home; sons, Randy S. Cagle of Star, Rodney D. Cagle of Biscoe; daughter, Julia C. Hernandez of Ocean Isle Beach; stepdaughters, Regina Glover of Morehead City, Brandy Glover and Candy Glover, both of Eagle Springs; parents, Catherine and Russell Hussey of Carthage; sister, Lisa H. Ray of Ash; brothers, Tony Hussey and Kenneth Hussey, both of Seagrove; grandmother, Mazie W. Flinchum of Carthage; nine grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of her parents, 265 Pond View Drive, Carthage.

Pearl F. White
OREM, Utah - Pearl Frances White, 85, formerly of Cross Roads Retirement Community in Asheboro and of South Charleston, W.Va., died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, in Orem, Utah.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Grandview Memorial Park in Dunbar, W.Va.

She was a native of Dawes, W.Va., the widow of Leon "Lefty" White and a retired employee of Thomas Memorial Hospital.

Surviving are sons, Lanny White of Orem, Utah, Lynwood White of Asheboro; brother, Donald Harless of Washington, D.C.; sisters, Ruby Spencer and Gwen Jones, both of Vero Beach, Fla., Marcella Miller of New Orleans, La.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

Bartlett-Burdette-Cox Funeral Home, Charleston, W.Va., is in charge of arrangements.

BURGAW - Nona Ruth Williams, 73, of 1551 River Bend Drive, died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at her home.

She was a native of Moore County and a Registered Nurse.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Monday.

Curtis A. Capps
ASHEBORO - Curtis Andrew Capps, 78, of 230 E. Presnell St., Asheboro, died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at Landmark Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Frank Barrett officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

He was a native of Guilford County, a retired painter and a former stock car racer.

Surviving are daughter, Daisy Mae C. Ledo of Asheboro; sons, Curtis Eugene Capps of Roan Mountain, Tenn., Richard Dale Capps and Terry Andrew Capps, both of Huntersville; 16 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Monday.

LIBERTY - Thelma Siler Cassady of 108 S. Carter St., died Friday, April 18, 2003, at Wesley Long Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Edwards Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Amos Grove Cemetery.

Surviving are daughter, Eva Whitley of the home; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.

STALEY - Archie Madison Phillips, 76, of 510 Benjie Williams Road, died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at Chatham Hospital, Siler City.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Moon's Chapel Baptist Church, Siler City, where he was a member, with the Rev. Scott Faw officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County, owner/operator of Chatham Chemical Co., the church van driver for the Senior Citizens and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are wife, Betty Thomas Phillips of Staley; daughters, Anne P. Cargill of Greenville, Pam P. Isley of Liberty; sisters, Faye P. Fitts of Siler City, Matt P. Elkins of Goldston; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 630-8:30 p.m. Monday.

She was a native of Richmond County and a retired supervisor with B.B. Walker Company.

Surviving are brother, Clyde Cole of Asheboro; sister, Maxine Cole Allred of Ellerbe.

She was a native of Forsyth County, the widow of Edward "Bud" Spivey Sr. and a retired employee of Klopman Mills.

Surviving are son, Edward Spivey of Asheboro; daughter, Sharon Beane of Randleman; sisters, Dot Allred of Randleman, Inez Smith of Greensboro; half sister, Bronna Marsh of Randleman; stepbrothers, O.N. Bowers Jr. of Randleman, Phillip Bowers of Asheboro; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Alamance County, a retired carpenter and he attended First Baptist Church, Bolivia.

Surviving are daughters, Vicky E. Bray of Siler City, Patty E. Thomas of Sanford; sons, Billy Carson Ellington Jr. and Jimmy Ellington, both of Pittsboro; sisters, Peggy E. McPherson, Margaret E. Pye, Louise E. Foust, all of Graham, Thelma E. Allison of Efland; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Mildred B. Garner
ROBBINS - Mildred Beck Garner, 82, a resident of Autumn Care, Biscoe, and formerly of 191 Gardenia Road, died Monday, April 21, 2003, at FirstHealth Montgomery Regional Hospital, Troy.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, with the Rev. Mack Beck officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Rest Cemetery.

She was a Randolph County native and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughter Carolyn Hilliard of Seven Lakes; son, Jerry Dale Garner of Robbins; brothers, Fred lee Beck of Ramseur, Robert Mack Beck and Arthur Jack Beck, both of Robbins; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday; other times at the home of Carolyn Hilliard, 121 Devonshire Drive South, Seven Lakes.

DENTON - Jesse Lee Hulin, 81, of Regan Road, died Monday, April 21, 2003, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, with the Rev. Clayton Hulin and the Rev. James Flannery officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and previously employed with Terrell Bros. Manufacturing.

Surviving are wife, Blanche Maxine Walker Hulin of the home; sons, Jesse Hulin, Robert Hulin and Michael Hulin, all of Thomasville, Donald Hulin of Denton; daughters, Patsy Swaney of Denton, Brenda McClure and Mitzi Robertson, both of Thomasville; brothers, Rev. Joseph "Jay" Hulin and Glyn Hulin, both of Denton; sisters, Magdaline Small and Betty Swaney, both of Trinity, Ellen Flannery of Denton; 17 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

ASHEBORO - Bernice York Cox, 72, of 230 E. Presnell St., Asheboro, died Monday, April 21, 2003, at Asheboro Health and Rehabilitation.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Bruce McLanahan and Randy Walking Bear Downy officiating.

She was a Randolph County native, a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and a retired seamstress.

Surviving are husband, Marvin Cox of Asheboro; daughter, Grace Ann Strongheart Morgan of Salisbury; sons, William Leslie Kidd of Lexington and Richard Lee Kidd of Liberty; stepson, John Ashley Cox of Asheboro; sister, Louise York Buchanan of Staley; six grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 12:30-2:30 p.m. Thursday; other times at the home of her son, Richard Kidd, 7363 Ferguson Road, Lot 21, Liberty.

Flossie L. McDowell
DENTON - Flossie Lamb McDowell, 85, of East Salisbury St., died Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Denton Church of God, where she was a member, with the Rev. Jesse Howard and the Rev. James Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Randolph County.

She was a Randolph County native, a homemaker and the widow of Ollie McDowell.

Surviving is sister, Dorothy Workman of Denton.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
