Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, where he was a member, with Dr. Everett Thomas officiating. Burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Austin Cemetery, Kitty Hawk.
He was a native of New York, N.Y., a World War II U.S. Marine Corps veteran, a retired director of admissions of St. Luke's-Roosevelt Hospital in New York, N.Y., former president of N.A.H.A.M. and a former Senior Warden at his church.
Surviving are wife, Gene Midgett Megerian; son, Jonathan Lee Megerian of Asheboro; two granddaughters.

GOLDSTON - Clarence Keith Fields, 45, of 2879 Roberts Chapel Road, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at his home.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Antioch Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Mike Wilkie officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Chatham County, an employee of Townsends Feed Mill, Bonlee, a former employee of Construction Parts Equipment, Gulf, and a graduate of Chatham Central High School.
Surviving are brother, Bobby Fields of Goldston; sisters, Dorothy Sue Hinshaw of Archdale, Cathy Ann Arnold of Sanford.

ELON - Boyd Eugene Sutton, 73, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at St. Mark's Reformed Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Bob Disher officiating. Burial will be in Shallow Ford United Church of Christ Cemetery.
He was a Sunday School teacher, Bible studies leader, chairman of the deacons and a trustee at Shallow Ford United Church of Christ. He served on the board of directors for Blowing Rock Assembly Grounds. He was a U.S. Coast Guard veteran and a retired employee of Western Electric/A.T.&T. after 43 years.
Surviving are wife, Gayle Gilliam Sutton of the home; daughters, Cathy Brady of Asheboro, Lisa Davis of Greensboro; sisters, Alma Kernodle of Elon, Ruby Freshwater of Graham, Pauline Tatum of Burlington; brothers, Edgar Sutton of Hagerstown, Md., Melvin Sutton of Elon; four grandchildren.

ORLANDO, Fla. - Bobby Dwain Hare, 70, of 4208 Merryweather Drive, died Friday, May 30, 2003, at the home of his daughter.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Falls United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Ray Hahn officiating.
He was a native of Guilford County, a Korean War veteran, a retired barber shop manager of the Naval Exchange of Orlando, Fla., after 22 years and a member of Southview Baptist Church in Orlando.
Surviving are sons, Bobby B. Hare and Reed E. Amick, both of Orlando, Fla.; daughters, Cherie H. Shedrick of St. Cloud, Fla., Pixie Amick Runk of Rockledge, Fla.; brother, Henry G. "Johnny" Hare Jr. of Franklinville; sisters, Delia "Sissy" Brown, Delores "Dinky" Needham, Ramona Duggins, Trudy Sink, all of Asheboro; six grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Kaci Erin Auman, 12, of 3393 Stutts Road, Asheboro, died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. R. Larry Emerson, Vicar, officiating. Burial will follow in Giles Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.
She was a Randolph County native and a student at Uwharrie Middle School. She was a former member of the girls basketball teams at Farmer Elementary and Southwestern Randolph Middle Schools.
Surviving are mother and stepfather, Debbie and Curtis Kinlaw of the home; father and stepmother, Greg and Ruby Auman of Asheboro; brother, Matt Auman of the home; sister, Kati Auman of Asheboro; grandparents, Ray Williams, Peggy Williams, Truitt Auman and Martha Auman, all of Asheboro.

RANDLEMAN - Richard James "Sonny" Hilliard, 68, of 108 Presnell St., died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at Wesley Long Community Hospital in Greensboro.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. Marion Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park.
He was a Guilford County native and retired from J.P. Stevens and Galey & Lord.
Surviving are daughters, Debi Hilliard and Donna Kuhn, both of Randleman; one granddaughter.

Joe Jarrell
HIGH POINT - Joseph Parker "Joe" Jarrell, 87, of Wickliff Avenue, died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at High Point Friends Meeting House, where he was a member, with the Rev. Dave Kingrey and the Rev. Victor Murchison officiating. Burial will follow in Springfield Friends Meeting House Cemetery.
He was a Guilford County native and a Birthright Quaker. He was a graduate of High Point Central High School and attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He retired as manager of the Building Supply Department of Sears-Roebuck, having worked in the Greensboro and Birmingham, Ala. stores. He was a licensed real estate agent and managed the Arcade Building and family real estate interest. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in Trinidad and Italy. He was a member of Colonial Country Club in Thomasville and an avid golfer.
Surviving are brothers, Charles Richardson Jarrell and Dr. Harold Thomas Jarrell, both of High Point.
The body will be returned to the residence, 1011 Wickliff Avenue, High Point, at 2 p.m. Friday. The family will be at the residence from 6:30-8 p.m. Friday.

DENTON - Bertie Loflin Whitted, 91, of Mountain Vista Health Park, formerly of High Rock Drive, Denton, died Wednesday, June 4, 2003, at Thomasville Medical Center.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, with the Rev. Hulon Pait officiating. Burial will follow in Lick Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
She was a Davidson County native, a homemaker and a member of Lick Creek Baptist Church. She was the widow of Claude B. Whitted.
Surviving is stepdaughter, Jimmie Kinley of Denton.

Orion Copeland
WEST END - First Sgt. Orion Copeland, U.S. Army Ret., 85, of 285 Partridge Lane, died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at his home.
A full military service, with honors, will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Doub's Chapel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Eric Joyce officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He was a Moore County native and a veteran of the U.S. Army's 6th Field Artillery, having served in the Philippine Campaign, two tours of duty in Germany, two tours of duty in Korea and a tour of duty in Vietnam. He retired with 31 1/2 years of service, receiving many medals and citations during his service.
Surviving are son, James Henri Copeland of West Chester, Pa.; sister, Alpha Copeland of Pinehurst; sister-in-law, Elgene Copeland of West End, with whom he made his home; one grandson.
The family will be at Fry and Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 6-8 p.m. Saturday.

ASHEBORO - Margaret Owen Williamson, 84, of 1096 Mack Road, Asheboro, died Thursday, June 5, 2003, at Asheboro Health & Rehabilitation.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Herman Lloyd Williamson, a retired textile worker and a member of Zion Praise & Worship Center.

She was a native of Smythe County, Va., the widow of George A. Foland Jr., a retired employee of Prestige Fabricators and a former Sunday School teacher and ACT Teens leader at her church.
Surviving are daughters, Gloria K. Foland of the home, Sandra Cole of Asheboro; sons, George Stanley Foland, James F. Foland Sr., Daniel T. Foland Sr., all of Asheboro, Richard T. Foland of Reidsville; 18 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren.

She was a past member of the choir and was in charge of the Harvest Festival at her church for many years. She was very active in community projects and was PTA president at Bonlee High School and later Chatham Central High School for many years. She was a 'grade mother' at Bonlee High School for many years. She was the widow of Ben Clapp.
Surviving are daughters, Elaine Webster of Siler City, Marlene Brown and Linda Clapp Koonce, both of Bear Creek and Norma Jean Garcia of Rocky Mount; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 12 stepgreat-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; five stepgreat-great-grandchildren.
