Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Pine Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Larry Redding officiating.

She was a native of Daisy, Tenn., a retired employee of Kayser-Roth and a member of Glen Hope Baptist Church.

Surviving are husband, James Alfred Clubb of Burlington; son, Ray Maness of Burlington; stepdaughter, Helen Faye Harper of Graham; stepson, James A. "Butch" Clubb Jr. of Norwood; sisters, Ann Lineberry and Betty Davis, both of Randleman, Brenda Treants of Sophia; 12 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Rich & Thompson Mortuary, Burlington, 6-8 p.m. Friday, other times at the home of Ray Maness, 524 Westhampton Court, Burlington.

ASHEBORO - Pearl Mae Cockman Kirkman, 97, of 1302 Old Cox Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at Cross Road Retirement Community.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Michael Holder officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Siler City, the widow of William Paul Kirkman, a retired employee of Belk's after 25 years, a homemaker and a member of the Philathea Sunday School class and Women's Circle at her church.

Surviving are son, Bill Kirkman of Asheboro; sisters, Sara Richey and Brona McManus, both of Greensboro; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 10-11 a.m. Saturday.

ASHEBORO - James Charles Russell, 83, of 3502 N.C. 42 South, died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Dr. John S. Rogers officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors.

He was a native of Randolph County, a retired employee of High Point Sprinkler Company, a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran and a member of First Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Barbara Byrum Russell; daughters, Betty R. Chilton and Kathy R. Davis, both of Asheboro; son, James Charles Russell Jr. of Randleman; sister, Edith R. Teague of Seagrove; two grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

GREENSBORO - William Paul Smith, 82, of 200 Spring Garden St., Apt. 811, died Saturday, June 7, 2003, at his home.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Olivers Chapel Church Cemetery, Staley.

He was a native of Randolph County.

Surviving are son, Franklin Woods of Greensboro; daughters, Mazellla Brown of Washington, D.C., Bernice Blue of Liberty; sister, Balfour Staley of Staley; brother, J.I. Smith of Liberty; seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the home of the sister, 62 Hannah-Mac Road, Staley.

ROBBINS - Carolyn Lambert Smith, 48, of 199 Borden Road, died Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at the home of her parents.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday in the Lambert-Burns family Cemetery, with the Rev. Harold Baker and the Rev. Larry Bullard officiating.

She was a native of Moore County and an employee of Kayser-Roth Hosiery in Asheboro.

Surviving are daughters, Wendy Lambert of Asheboro, Jessica Chriscoe of Seagrove; parents, Oscar and Lucy Lambert of Robbins; brothers, Oscar Lambert Jr. of Robbins, Eddie Lambert of Bear Creek, Ricky Lambert of Asheboro, Johnny Lambert of Highfalls; sisters, Catherine Berry of Robbins, Mary Burns of Seagrove; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home of the parents, 199 Borden Road.

EAGLE SPRINGS - Wesley Grant Leak, 78, died Tuesday, June 10, 2003, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Zion Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, with the Rev. Linda M. Person officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

GREENVILLE, S.C. - George Franklin Lemon, 66, of 210 Memminger St., died Monday, May 26, 2003, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Memorial graveside service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Oaklawn Memorial Cemetery, Asheboro, with the Rev. Barry Lemon officiating.

He was a native of Randolph County, a retired roofer and of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are sister, Dorothy Bulla of Greensboro; brother, Joseph Lemon of Asheboro; half sister, Cindy Golden of Asheboro.

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Frances Elgin Lemon, 65, died Wednesday, May 28, 2003, in Oakmont East Nursing Center.

Memorial graveside service will be 4 p.m. Sunday at Oaklawn Memorial Cemetery, Asheboro, with the Rev. Barry Lemon officiating.

She was the widow of George Franklin Lemon, a native of Greenville, S.C., a retired employee of Hardee's and of the Baptist faith.

ASHEBORO - Frances Ann York Patterson, 68, of 61O Andrew Hunter Road, Asheboro, died Friday, June 13, 2003, at Wesley Long Community Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Rushwood Park Wesleyan Church, where she was a member, with Dr. Ron Hamilton, Pastor Roy Grigsby and the Rev. Donald Dawalt officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Buncombe County, the widow of Douglas Patterson, former owner and operator of Fran's Chicken Hut and a former employee of Eveready.

Surviving are daughters, Pamela Jane Priddy and Kim Garner, both of Asheboro; sons, Larry Shope Jr., Phillip Patterson, David Patterson, all of Asheboro; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home of Kim Garner, 3947 Woodland View Place, Asheboro.

PLEASANT GARDEN - Maurice Edgar Stout, 84, formerly of Siler City, died Thursday, June 12, 2003, at Friends Homes at Guilford in Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Rocky River Friends Meeting, Siler City, where he was a member, with the Rev. David Hobson and the Rev. Cafer Marley officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County and a farmer.

Surviving are wife, Elizabeth P. Stout of Pleasant Garden; daughter, Jane Carol Stout of Pleasant Garden; brother, Clayton Stout of Siler City; three grandchildren.

She was a native of Rowan County, a former employee of A.J. Schneierson & Sons and a former Sunday school teacher and youth director at her church.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at South Plainfield Friends Meeting, where she was a member, with the Rev. Hugh Spaulding and the Rev. Reece Wall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County, the widow of James A. Davis and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughter, Rachel Berry of Sophia; sons, David Davis, Donald Davis, Kenneth Davis, Harold Davis, all of Sophia; sister, Mildred Evans of Bolivia; 15 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday and at the church immediately following the burial.

She was a native of Moore County.

MARIETTA, Ga. - James Floyd Daughtry III, 53, of Marietta, Ga., died Friday, June 13, 2003, due to injuries from a boating accident.

He was a graduate of Farmville High School, Farmville, and of East Carolina University. He was assistant vice president with C & S Bank, owner and operator of Star Cleaners in Marietta, a self-employed businessman and a member of East Cobb United Methodist Church.

Surviving are wife, Joyce Austin Daughtry; daughter, Elizabeth Ann D. Guth of Cincinnati, Ohio; son, James Robert Daughtry of Marietta, Ga.; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Daughtry of Asheboro; sister, Jan D. Metzler; brother, Don Daughtry.

Jones A. Peacock
ASHEBORO - Jones Ashebon Peacock, 91, of SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation of Asheboro, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at SunBridge.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Robin Dixon and the Rev. Charles Lindquist officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Shepherd United Methodist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County, the widower of Leona Miller Peacock and a member of Mt. Shepherd United Methodist Church. He was formerly employed with Acme-McCrary Corp. and Stuart Furniture Industries.

Surviving are sons, Jerry Peacock of Jackson Creek, Darrell Peacock of Jupiter, Fla.; two grandsons; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 12:30-1:45 p.m. Wednesday.

ASHEBORO - Fred Elwood Tucker, 88, of 1741 Third St., Asheboro, died Tuesday, June 17, 2003, at Alamance Regional Medical Center.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Oakhurst Baptist Church, where he was a member, with Dr. Richard Crider officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park with military honors.

He was a native of Wentworth, a Medical Technician in the U.S. Army during World War II and was retired from Richard Gray Hosiery. He was a former Sunday School teacher and worked in the Adult Training Union Program at his church. He was the widower of Morine H. Tucker.

Surviving are sons, Bill Tucker of Asheboro and Fredrick Tucker of Burlington; daughter, Sheila Sides of Hickory; half-brother, Woodrow Capps of Eden; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 6-8 p.m. Thursday.

RANDLEMAN - Velva Ree Trogdon Brown, 97, formerly of 228 Church St., died Monday, June 16, 2003, at SunBridge Care & Rehabilitation of Asheboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church, Randleman, where she was a member, with the Rev. H. Kyle Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Hoffman, a former Children's Sunday School superintendent, a member of United Methodist Women's Society and a member of the choir at her church. She was the widow of A. Edison Brown.

Surviving are son. George E. Brown of Millboro; daughters, Ruth B. Rumley of Greensboro and Nancy B. Johnson of Taylors, S.C.; 13 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.
