He was retired from Amoco Gas Company and was a member of the Adult's Men's Sunday School class and a deacon and trustee at his church.
Surviving are wife, Coyala Jones Brewer of Siler City; daughter, Martha B. Lindley of Siler City; son, Leo Brewer of Siler City; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church, Taylorsville, where she was a member, with Dr. Charles Hutchens officiating. Entombment will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens, Wilkesboro.
She was native of Baltimore, Md. and a volunteer at Sugar Loaf Elementary School and the Taylorsville Hometown Development Council, Inc.

She was a native of Fort Mill, S.C., employed with ILGWU Garment Factory, Philadelphia, Pa., as a seamstress, was a member of Missionary Group I and fraternally a charter member of Lady Astor Chapter #9, Order of the Eastern Star and of The Ancient Arabic Order, daughter of Sphinx.
Surviving is adopted god-daughter, Phyllis Rawley of Danville, Calif.
