GRANITE CITY, Ill. - Joan M. Gable Ruth, 67, of 3113 Ash Ave., died Monday, June 30, 2003, at her home.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church, where she was a member, with Father Larry Brunette officiating. Burial will follow in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Mo.
She was a native of St. Louis and was employed with Seibolds Bakery in the administrative/payroll department. She was a former Girl Scout leader, served as a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts, was active in Black Knights Drum and Bugle Corps and was a member of United Food and Commercial Workers. She was the widow of Charles E. Ruth.
Surviving are daughters, Lea M. Wells of Murray, Ky., and Mary F. Carriker of Wood River, Ill.; sons, Charles J. Ruth of Collinsville, Ill., Robert F. Ruth of Granite City, Ill.; sisters, Carole Grzechowiak of St. Louis, Mo., Mary Jo Lanzafame and Patricia Grubb, both of Florissant, Mo.; six grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren.
The family will be at Irvin Chapel Funeral Home, Granite City, Ill., 4-8 p.m. Wednesday. A prayer service will be 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

ASHEBORO - Ronnie Michael Davis, 49, formerly of Asheboro, died Tuesday, July 1, 2003, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with Dr. Ron Hamilton officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery, Asheboro.
He was a native of Randolph County and a self-employed carpenter.
Surviving are son, Timmy Davis of Asheboro; mother, Hortense Hatcher of Asheboro; sister, Linda Linder of Asheboro; brothers, Larry Poole and Mark Poole, both of Asheboro; half sister, Tonya Meggs of Bennett; one grandchild.
The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home of Larry Poole, 947 Jason Hoover Road, Asheboro.
Wilbur A. Jarrett
THOMASVILLE - The Rev. Wilbur A. Jarrett, 82, of Unity Street, died Wednesday, July 2, 2003, at Thomasville Medical Center.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Memorial United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Ed Biggers, Dr. John H. Christy Jr., the Rev. P. Glenn Kinken III and the Rev. Peggy Finch officiating. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.
He was a native of Davidson County, the widower of Ruth Hepler Jarrett and a graduate of High Point College and Duke University Theological Seminary. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, the retired pastor of Unity United Methodist Church in Thomasville, with over 50 years of pastoral service with the United Methodist Conference, and Pastor Emeritus at his church.
Surviving are daughters, Mary Lou Dickey of Thomasville, Beth Schulz of Marshall, Ill., Ellen Frank of Lexington; brother, Dale Jarrett of Thomasville; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the church 6:30-9 p.m. Saturday.

He was a Montgomery County native and an employee of Uwharrie Environmental, Aberdeen.

He was a Moore County native, a retired electrician and worked in maintenance with Angus Mills for 21 years.

ASHEBORO - Helen Benson Sykes Woodley, a resident of Clapp's Nursing and Convalescent Center, Asheboro, died Thursday, July 3, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.

She was a Randolph County native, attended Women's College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She was a teacher in the Burlington City and Asheboro City schools, where she taught elementary school for many years.
Surviving is sister, Pearl Sykes Stone of Canton.
The family will be at the church immediately following the service. Her body will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, Sunday until taken to the church 30 minutes prior to the service.

He had been a car salesman with Vestal Ford and Nance Chevrolet, where he retired after 20 years of service. After retirement he managed East Gate Texaco with his daughter. He was a member of Asheboro United Church of Christ, a U.S. Army veteran having served in World War II and a Randolph County native.
Surviving are wife, Veola Craven Hanner of Asheboro; daughter Phyllis H. Lewis of Asheboro; sister, Rebecca H. Fentriss of Greensboro; brothers, James D. Hanner of Randleman and John E. Hanner of Greensboro; one granddaughter.

She was a Randolph County native and retired from Burlington Sox/Kayser-Roth Hosiery. She served as treasurer at her church for 35 years.
