Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Friendship A.M.E. Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. J.D. Coble and the Rev. Rodney Foxx officiating. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
She was a Randolph County native and a domestic worker.
Surviving are daughters, Dorothy B. Smith of Greensboro and Evelyn Wilhite of Staley; son, Shelton Brady of Staley; three grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
The family will be at the church 1:30-2 p.m. Wednesday, prior to the service.

SILER CITY - Sammie White Jr., 85, of 4292 Alston Bridge Road, died Sunday, July 27, 2003 at Chatham Hospital.
Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Gees Grove A.M.E. Zion Church with the Rev. Billy Siler officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He was an Alamance County native and retired from Chatham Novelty.
Surviving are sisters, Avis Martin of Snow Camp and Bonnie Farrar of Staley; brothers, Floyd White and Troy White, both of Siler City, Dee Lacy White of Staten Island, N.Y.
The family will be at the church 7-8 p.m. Tuesday.

DENTON - Mattie Carrick Newsom, 82, of Bringle Ferry Road, died Monday, July 28, 2003, at Mountain Vista Health Park, Denton.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Summerville Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Flynn Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
She was a Davidson County native and a retired employee of Thornton Knitting Co. She was a member of the Senior Adult Ladies Sunday School Class, a former Sunday School teacher and choir member at her church. She was a charter member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Healing Springs Fire Department and the widow of Worth Newsom.
Surviving are daughter, Sonja N. Grubb of Denton; sisters, Alma Buie of Denton, Fallie Mae Carrick and Catherine Parker, both of Lexington; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

CARTHAGE - Asby Vest Leslie, 89, died Monday, July 28, 2003, at HCR Manor Care in Pinehurst.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Priest Hill Presbyterian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Michael Herring and the Rev. Robert Yandle officiating. Burial will follow in Cross Hill Cemetery.
She was a native of King and had worked at Pinehurst Country Club and Shields Drug Store in Carthage.
Surviving are daughters, Betty Picerno and Linda Phillips, both of Carthage, Ruth McIntosh of Troy; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
The family will be at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, Tuesday from 7-8:30 p.m.; other times at the home of Linda and Tommy Phillips.

He was a Randolph County native, owner/operator of Claeson Insurance Agency and an employee of Lowe's Hardware, Greensboro. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, having served in Vietnam.
Surviving are wife, Theresa Romano Claeson of the home; stepson, Bobby Westmoreland of the home; daughters, Deanne Scott of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Crystal Reed of Knoxville, Tenn., and Rena Claeson of Randleman; two grandchildren.

He was a Wayne County native and a retired certified plumber from Goldsboro Heating and Plumbing.
Surviving are sons, Willie Junior Darden of Mt. Olive and Bruce Darden of Evansville, Ind.; daughter, Barbara Theeson of Asheboro; former wife, Sudie Jones of Goldsboro; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

RANDLEMAN - Charles "Chuck" Adam Ramsey, 50, died Tuesday, July 29, 2003.
Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home, Pleasant Garden, with the Rev. Chuck Rowland and the Rev. Rusty Parsons officiating.
He was a Guilford County native, a graduate of Southeast Guilford High School and attended Lees McCrary College. He served with the U.S. Army in Germany and was employed with Duke Power for 29 years. He was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church, a Sunday School teacher, chairman of the Day Care and member of the Administrative Board.
Surviving are wife, Sharon Ramsey of the home; daughters, Paige and Jordan Ramsey, both of the home; parents, Jack and Alma "Boots" Ramsey of Hampstead; sister, Terri Smith of Hampstead.

She was a Randolph County native and a secretary to the Randolph County Board of Education Certified Personnel. She was a member of a Sunday School Class at her church.

She was a graduate of Ursuline Academy, a member of Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority and a sophomore at Central Missouri State University.
Surviving are parents, Stephen and Gail Henry; brothers, Erik Wright and Frank Henry; sisters, Sarah Wright, Emily Henry and Allison Henry; grandparents, Ella Wright and the late Gene Henry, Rita Henry and Franklin C. Stark.

She was a native of Chatham County and the widow of Alfred C. Lindley.
