CONCORD - Louise Yow Pike, 89, of Brian Center, Concord, died Monday, July 27, 1998, at the center.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Central United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

She was a native of Stanly County, the widow of Joseph William Pike, a retired teacher with the Cabarrus County Schools, a graduate of Queens College, a member of the Nina Houston Circle at her church, and a member of Nosegay Garden Club, Quest Book Club, White Shrine and Order of the Eastern Star.

Surviving are sons, Joseph William Pike III of Asheboro, Daniel Locke Pike of Salisbury; brother, Dr. D. Eugene Yow of Concord; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Wilkinson Funeral Home, Concord, 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Mary Ellen Medlin, 3631 Stonefield SW, Concord.

William Brown Jr.

BLACK MOUNTAIN - William "Bill" Brown Jr., 55, died Sunday, July 26, 1998, at his home.

A Masonic Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Black Mountain, with the Black Mountain Masonic Lodge No. 663 conducting the service.

He was a native of Augusta, Ga., and a retired independent insurance agent.

Surviving are wife, Donna Hice Brown; daughter, Shannon Nestlerode of Shelby; son, Hal Brown of Asheboro; brother, Johnny Mac Brown of Fayetteville, Ga.; one granddaughter.

Memorials may be made to Shriner's Children's Hospital.

James W. Spinks

James William Spinks, 73, of 819 Meadowbrook Road, Asheboro, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at The Church of God of Prophecy, where he was a member, with Bishop Barney Trogdon officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

Surviving are wife, Margie Cheek Spinks of the home; sons, Roger "Tony" Spinks of Asheboro, William "Bill" Spinks of Ramseur; daughters, Barbara S. Newby, Marie S. Belle, Patricia Covington, Theresa Spinks, all of Asheboro, Rebecca S. Ross of Lincolnton; sister, Sara Mae Bailey of Liberty; brother, Cranston Spinks of Greensboro; 23 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 7-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Robert L. Williams

Robert L. "Bobby" Williams, 35, of 8819 Broomsage Lane, Charlotte, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, in Charlotte.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Assembly, Asheboro, with Pastor Eric Allred officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Asheboro, a graduate of the University of North Carolina and was employed with NationsBank as a computer engineer.

Surviving are wife, Jackie Williams of Charlotte; mother, Pat Jarrell of Asheboro; brothers, Keith Williams of Greensboro, Andrew Jarrell of Asheboro.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of his mother, 229 Uwharrie St., Asheboro.

Linda Blankenship

RAMSEUR - Linda Blankenship, 59, of 5831 Old Siler City Road, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church, with Elder James "Hoss" Blankenship Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Knoll Cemetery.

She was a native of Man, W.Va., and employed with B & B Cushion Co.

Surviving are husband, James Donal Blankenship of the home; son, Elder James "Hoss" Blankenship Jr. of Bolt, W.Va.; daughters, Tonya Allen of Asheboro, Jamie B. Alspaugh of Greensboro, Tammy Lester, Bridget Cheek, both of Ramseur; sisters, Nancy Taylor of Melbourne, Fla., Wanda Derosa of Orlando, Fla., Carol Perkins of Orient, Ohio; eight grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Lacy A. Kirkman

JULIAN - Lacy Anderson Kirkman, 58, of 7667 Shiloh Road, died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Shiloh Methodist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Greensboro, employed with Environmental Air Systems, Inc. and was a member of Reidsville Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Nancy W. Kirkman of the home; mother, Louise Kirkman of Greensboro; daughter, Kathryn Coble of Liberty; sons, David Kirkman of Asheboro, Phillip Kirkman of Mt. Clemens, Mich.; brother, Melvin Kirkman of Greensboro; sisters, Doris Russell, Judy Ryan, Nancy Cockman, all of Greensboro; eight grandchildren.

The family will be at Forbis & Dick Funeral Home, North Elm Chapel, Greensboro, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Willie Foxx

SILER CITY - Willie Foxx of 625 E. Eleventh St., died Sunday, Aug. 2, 1998, at Country Forest Manor.

Funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Pine Hill United Church of Christ, where he was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Surviving are daughter, Marquerite Headen of Indianapolis, Ind.; son, Bishop Jimmy C. Foxx of Durham; brother, Joe Foxx of Pittsboro; sister, Matherina Foust of Siler City; half sister, Arzela Wiley of Siler City; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson.

The family will be at Knotts & Son Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Marion V. Frazier

CARTHAGE - Marion Viola Frazier, 88, of Pinelake Health Care, Carthage, formerly of Ocean Ridge, Fla., died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

She was a native of New Haven, Conn. and the widow of Norman E. Frazier.

Surviving are son, Donald N. Frazier of Pinehurst; sisters, Mildred Engstrom of Boca Raton, Fla., Edna Johnson of Novato, Calif.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

RAMSEUR - Henry Durham Stinson, 69, of 574 Tate St., died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at his home.

Mattie B. Godfrey

STALEY - Mattie B. Godfrey of 7148 Staley View Trail, died Saturday, Aug. 1, 1998, at her home.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Olivers Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Gene Horton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a deaconess at her church and a member of several church organizations and was recently elected Chaplin of the Community organization of Staley.

Surviving are son, Nathan P. Godfrey of Staley; mother, Naomi B. Brown of Staley; sisters, Ada B. Coble of Greensboro, Wilma McCall of Springfield, Mass., Doris Dark of Staley; two grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 7-8 p.m. Wednesday.

Farrar Funeral Home, Siler City, is in charge of the arrangements.

Jarvis M. Moses

PITTSBORO - Jarvis Milton Moses, 90, of 752 Dewitt Smith Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at Laurels of Chatham, Pittsboro.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Meroney United Methodist Church, Bear Creek, where he was a member, with the Rev. Richard Farmer officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County, a farmer and a former Sunday School superintendent and trustee at his church.

Surviving are wife, Lois Moses of Pittsboro; son, Gary Moses of Pittsboro; brother, Forney Moses of Newport News, Va.; two granddaughters.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Walter G. Baxter

BENNETT - Walter G. "Doodle" Baxter, 63, of 2595 Bennett-Siler City Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at Chatham Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Bennett Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Tim Strider, the Rev. John Bouldin and John Wayne Phillips officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County and a retired poultry farmer.

Surviving are wife, Octavia Brown Baxter of the home; daughters, Vickie B. Kidd, Kyle B. Spencer, both of Bennett; son, Keith Baxter of Bennett; sisters, Mattie Navy, Anne Manley, both of Asheboro, Pauline Baxter of Greensboro; foster sisters, Ruby Spinks of Robbins, Sondra Hammer of Asheboro; brothers, Winfred Baxter, Windol Baxter, both of Robbins, Henry Baxter of Bennett, Billy H. Baxter of Ramseur; five grandchildren.

Henry D. Stinson

RAMSEUR - Henry Durham Stinson, 69, of 574 Tate St., died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1998, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Justus McKeel officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Knoll Cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County, owner and operator of Stinson's Repair Shop, a deacon and Sunday School teacher at his church and was a Korean War U.S. Air Force veteran.

Surviving are sisters, Elizabeth Rinehardt of Ramseur, Goldie York of Staley, Lula Payne of Hays, Lillie Nance of Asheboro, Dr. Helen Stinson and Mildred Power, both of Greensboro.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

DENTON - Nadine Palmer Tucker, 48, of 6774 Gravel Hill Road, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, at Wake Forest University Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem.

Genero G. White

SILER CITY - Genero Greene White of 402 E. Fourth St., died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at Country Forest Manor.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, with the Rev. Tommy Sweeley officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery.

She was a native of Chatham County, a member of First Baptist Church of Siler City, was in the Chatham Hospital Auxiliary, a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and was a Girl Scout leader.

Surviving are son, Bobby L. White of Burlington; sister, Gretchen W. Terry of Siler City; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Ronnie E. Hill
Ronnie Ernest Hill, 58, of 540-1 Miller Road, Asheboro, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Howard Moffitt officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County.

Surviving are daughters, Rhonda Cox, Mandi Hill, both of Liberty, Melanie Hill of Randleman, Sabra Landin of Asheboro; mother, Virginia Weeks of Asheboro; sister, Linda Camp of Asheboro; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

Lucile B. Barnes

Lucile Bernice Brown Barnes, 79, of 786 Cable Creek Road, Asheboro, died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Back Creek Friends Meeting, where she was a member, with the Rev. Ray Lambe and the Rev. George McDowell officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Wayman Barnes and a homemaker.

Surviving are daughters, Mary Yow, Janet Hunt, both of Asheboro; sons, David Barnes of Asheboro, Edsel Barnes of Coleridge; brother, John Brown of Asheboro; seven grandchildren.
