BELMONT - Steven Cecil Kinney, 43, of 41 Wiley Loop Road, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2003, at Carolina Medical Center, Charlotte.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Neighbors Grove Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Larry Moore and the Rev. David Dunagan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a 1979 graduate of Randleman High School, where he was a wrestler, all-conference in football and ran track. He was a 1984 graduate of Catawba College where he played football and ran track and a graduate of NC A&T University with a masters in educational guidance counseling. He was an employee of the Stanley County School System in Albemarle and formerly attended Neighbor's Grove Wesleyan.
Surviving are son, Zachery Steven Kinney of Waxhaw; parents, Cecil and Carolyn Kinney of Randleman; sisters, Cheryl "Sherry" K. Allred of Randleman, Christal "Christy" Kinney of Asheboro; brothers, Edward Troy "Eddie" Kinney and Robert "Robbie" Kinney, both of Randleman.
The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

DENVER - Melinda Sue Langley Hannah, 60, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003, at her home.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at McEwen Funeral Home, Charlotte. Graveside service will be 5:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lakeview Memorial Park, Greensboro.
She was a native of Greensboro, the widow of Samuel Hannah, a former employee of Bryant Electric Co., previously employed with Emco and a member of Denver Baptist Church.
Surviving are mother, Shirley Burgess Langley of Concord; brother, Jerry Langley of Matthews; stepdaughter, Elaine McKimmie; two stepgrandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home noon-1:30 p.m., and 5-5:30 p.m. at Lakeview Memorial Park on Wednesday.

Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Johnson Memorial Park, Pikeville, Ky., with Pastor John Wallace officiating.
She was a native of Dorton, Ky., the widow of Evan Hall and Paul Mattingly and a member of First Baptist Church in Seagrove.
Surviving are daughters, Reona Johnson of Melvin, Ky., Fayetta Craven of Asheboro, Louise Welch of Ramseur, Shirley Daniel and Estella Kearns, both of Denton; sons, Carl Hall of Bluff City, Tenn., Ernie Hall of San Antonio, Texas, Evan Hall of Seagrove; stepdaughters, Adoree Stanley, Irene Carlton, Pauline Branhom, Shirley Wright, Linda Mattingly; stepsons, Gregory Mattingly and Don Mattingly; 27 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Randolph Memorial Park, with Father Joseph Mack and Father Ricardo Sanchez officiating.
Surviving, in addition to the parents, are brothers, Carlos M. Carvajal Mercado and Alexander Carvajal Mercado, both of the home.

HIGH POINT - James "Buddy" Pemberton, 89, of 1119 Dartmouth Ave., died Sunday, July 27, 2003, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Funeral service will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Mt. Airy A.M.E. Zion Church, Mt. Gilead, where he was a member, with the Rev. James M. Whitaker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
He was a Montgomery County native and a U.S. Army veteran, having served during World War II.
Surviving are sisters, Elma Thompson of Hartsville, S.C., Della Bogans, Caroline Lindsey and Ida Covington, all of High Point, and Sallie Wall of Fort Washington, Md.
The family will be at the church 1-1:30 p.m. prior to the service.

CHARLOTTE - Bobbie Ann Caudle Edwards, 78, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Carolinas Medical Center.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Myers Park United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with Dr. James Howell and Bishop L. Bevel Jones III officiating. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday in Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church Cemetery in Randleman, with Dr. Don Haynes and the Rev. Bob Combs officiating.
She was a native of Randleman, a graduate of Women's College and an elementary schoolteacher in Randleman, Asheboro and Greensboro.
Surviving are husband, the Rev. Frank H. Edwards; sons, David Carlton Edwards of Charlotte, Mark Alan Edwards of Alpharetta, Ga.; three grandchildren.
The family will be at the church following the service in Charlotte on Thursday and at the church in Randleman following the graveside service on Friday.

FOUR OAKS - Dr. Hugh L. Roberts, 60, of 918 E. Sanders St., died Friday, July 25, 2003, at his home.

He was a native of Madison County, a graduate of Asheboro High School and a retired professor who previously taught sociology and psychology at N.C. State University, Appalachian State University, the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was a professor at Johnston Technical College in Smithfield.
Surviving is son, David Roberts of Asheboro.

He was a retired plant manager and salesman for Hadley-Peoples Mfg. Co., a member of Siler City Masonic Lodge # 403 AF & AM, Shriner of Siler City, Greensboro and Charlotte, and a member of the Siler City Lion's Club.
Surviving are wife, Frances Griffin Robbins of Siler City; daughter, Phyllis R. Cole of Atlanta, Ga.; one granddaughter.

Dr. Thomas B. Turner
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Dr. Thomas Ross Bennett Turner, 76, of Westminster Oaks, died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2003, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home, Tallahassee, Fla. Burial will be in Culley's MeadowWood Memorial Park.
He was the widower of Ailene Edgeworth Turner, a graduate of Davidson College and of the University of Miami Medical School and a retired medical director of Miami's John Elliott Blood Bank. He was an associate professor of medicine at the University of Miami, an employee of the Division of Medical Assessment for the State of Florida, a U.S. Army Medical Service veteran and an elder at Lafayette Presbyterian Church, Tallahassee.
Surviving is sister, Mary Turner Thomson of Asheboro.
The family will be at the funeral home one hour before the service on Monday.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Jerry Webb, the Rev. Steve Bird and Dr. Bob Hylton officiating and with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
He was a native of Elamsville, Va., the widower of Margaret Hylton and a retired employee of Newman Machine Shop in Greensboro. He was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, of the Baptist faith and he attended Level Cross Baptist Church.
Surviving are sons, Dr. Robert Lee Hylton of Harrisburg, Pa., Ronald Edward Hylton of Yadkinville, Ricky Marshall Hylton of Randleman; stepdaughter, Nancy Jean Apple of Reidsville; sister, Ellie Willis of Villa Heights, Va.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home of Ricky Hylton, 6489 Georgia Drive, Randleman.
