CARTHAGE - Marion Viola Frazier, 88, of Pinelake Health Care, Carthage, formerly of Ocean Ridge, Fla., died Monday, Aug. 3, 1998.

A memorial service will be 6 p.m. Friday at Fry-Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, with Father Kenneth Parker officiating.

She was a native of New Haven, Conn., and the widow of Norman E. Frazier.

Surviving are son, Donald N. Frazier of Pinehurst; sisters, Mildred Engstrom of Boca Raton, Fla., Edna Johnson of Novato, Calif.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Caroline P. Bouldin
ROBBINS - Caroline Purvis Bouldin, 64, of 997 George P. Road, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Beulah Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Curtis Barbery officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County and retired from Burlington Mills.

Surviving are sons, the Rev. Kenneth Bouldin of Camden, S.C., and Barry Bouldin of Robbins; daughter, Rhonda Bowman of Kannapolis; brothers, Ray Purvis of Bear Creek and Dewitt Purvis of Carthage; sisters, Mary Ruth Williams of Robbins, Juanita Kidd of Asheboro and Mamie Murray of Bennett; seven grandchildren.

Loflin Funeral Home in Ramseur is in charge of the arrangements.

THOMASVILLE - Charlie Crockett Cline, 81, of 222 Griffith St., died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998, at Community General Hospital, Thomasville.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at Pugh Funeral Home Asheboro.

Samuel P. Lowder

MT. GILEAD - Samuel Pearson Lowder, 54, of 6303 N.C. 73 West, died Friday, Aug. 7, 1998, at his home.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Baptist Church, Albemarle, where he was a member, with the Rev. Otis Goins officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Cemetery, Mt. Gilead.

He was a native of Stanly County, co-owner and salesman for the Pee Dee Motor Co. in Mt. Gilead, a former deacon and Sunday School teacher at his church and a member of Blackmer Masonic Lodge, Mt. Gilead.

Surviving are wife, Jane Whitley Lowder of the home; son, Dean Lowder of Mt. Gilead; daughter, Teresa L. Haywood of Mt. Gilead; brother, Halbert Lowder of Watkinsville, Ga.; sister, Elsie Edwards of Albemarle; two grandchildren.

McKeithan Funeral Home in Mt. Gilead is in charge of the arrangements.

Bill McNeill

FRANKLINVILLE - Matt Willis "Bill" McNeill, 61, of 1338 Whites Memorial Road, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998, at his home.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Monday at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, with Johnny Maness officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Falls Brickyard Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and employed with Sapona Manufacturing.

Surviving are wife, Rose Lineberry McNeill; daughters, Janet McNeill Bowers of Franklinville and Karen Lynn McNeill Cooke of Asheboro; foster daughters, Kim Hatfield of Hampton, Va., and Teresa Allred and Vivian Schwarz, both of Asheboro; brother, Jack McNeill of Randleman; sister, Mary Marie Hill of Franklinville; three grandchildren; five foster grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home.

Lucille H. Simmons

CANDOR - Lucille Hough Simmons, 59, of 5968 Boulder Drive, Archdale, died Friday, Aug. 7, 1998, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, Candor. Burial will be in Hamer Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, Mt. Gilead.

She was a native of Anson County and had been employed with Randolph County Home Health as an CNA.

Surviving are sons, Von Simmons and James "Jimmy" Simmons, both of Archdale; brother, Albert Hough of Candor; sisters, Josephine Owens of Troy, Lona Baldwin of Sophia and Martha Pate of Creedmoor; four grandchildren.

Alton H. Walden Jr.

HIGH POINT - Alton Henry Walden Jr., 47, of 809 Ernest Court, died Thursday, Aug. 6, 1998, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 4 p.m. Monday at Greater St. John Baptist Church, Asheboro. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

He was native of Washington, D.C., a former employee of Guilford Mills, Greensboro, and was a member of Mt. Olive Holiness Church in Asheboro.

Surviving are wife, the Rev. Phyllis Elaine Walden of the home; daughters, Melissa C. Walden and Toyneka Walden, both of the home; mother, Cleo Walden Strickland and stepfather, Maloy Strickland, both of Siler City; brothers, Charles Walden of Cheberly, Md., and Winfred Walden of Siler City.

The family will be at C.C. Hodges Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-8 p.m. Sunday.

STAR - Donald Roger Williams, 54, of 521 Owens St., died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998, in Pinehurst.

Charlie Crockett Cline, 81, of 222 Griffith St., Thomasville, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998, at Community General Hospital, Thomasville.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Neil C. Poole officiating. A graveside service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church Cemetery, Wytheville, Va.

He was a native of Wytheville, Va., a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a retired employee of the City of Asheboro after 10 years.

Surviving are daughters, Joann Foland, Louise Hill, both of Asheboro, Evelyn Cline of Thomasville; sisters, Ruth Jones of Fries, Va., Edith Grubb of Wytheville, Va.; brothers, Pierce Cline of Maryland, Earnest Cline of Tennessee, Richard Cline of Galax, Va.; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Monday, other times at the home of Mary Saunders, 405 Queens Road, Asheboro.

RANDLEMAN - Betty Saunders McDaniel, 72, of 213 Depot St., died Friday, Aug. 7, 1998, at her home.

Jesse Brown

LIBERTY - William Jesse Brown, 74, of 1382 Low Bridge Road, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Whites Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Hadley Robertson and the Rev. Hayes Ritter officiating.

He was a native of Randolph County, retired with Randolph Mills, was a farmer and sawmill operator, and a World War II U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving is wife, Irene Kimrey Brown.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-8:30 p.m. Monday.

Greta S. Cody

DENTON - Greta Smith Cody, 37, of 156 W. Slate Mine Road, died Sunday, Aug. 9, 1998, in Conway, S.C.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, with the Rev. Chris Smith, the Rev. Mike McClellan and the Rev. Peter McGuire officiating. Burial will be in Lineberry United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Guilford County, a member of Lineberry United Methodist Church, attended Chapel Hill United Methodist Church and was employed as a technology computer assistant at South Davidson High School.

Surviving are daughters, Danielle Cody, Allison Cody, both of the home; parents, Richard and Barbara Smith of Denton; grandparents are Truby Loflin, Dakota and Lois Smith, all of Denton; brother, Tyron Smith of Rockwell.

The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday.

She was a native of Moore County and a former employee of RUSSTEX Hosiery Inc., Troy.

Surviving are daughters, Edna Carol Edwards of Highfalls, Cathy Lynn Weathers of Star, Cynthia Diane James of Robbins; sons, Clarence Wayne Saunders of Randleman, Walter Eugene Saunders of Seven Lakes, William Harvey Kennedy of Troy, James Edward Weathers of Robbins; sister, Gerolene Street of West End; brother, Larry Edward Thomas of Jackson Springs; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

CAMERON - Ruth Smith Cameron, 79, died Saturday, Aug. 8, 1998, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

She was a native of Moore County and a former nursing assistant at Moore Regional Hospital.

Surviving are husband, George Cameron; daughter, Anita C. Carter of Cameron; sons, Dennis W. "Bud" Cameron of Mt. Airy, Harold E. Cameron of Cameron; eight grandchildren.

He was a native of Guilford County and a self-employed plumber.

She was a native of Montgomery County, a member of Troy Church of God and a homemaker.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday.

David P. Martin

LAURENS, S.C. - David Pierce Martin, 91, of Clarkesville, Ga., formerly of Laurens, S.C., died Monday, Aug. 10, 1998, at Habersham County Medical Center.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, Laurens, S.C.

He was the widower of Frances Walker Martin, had attended Presbyterian College and was retired from Roper Lumber Co.

Surviving are daughters, Edith Ogburn of Asheboro, Jane Childs of Clarkesville, Ga.; son, John F. Martin of Swansea, S.C.; seven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters.

LAPORTE, Ind. - Richard A. Okrzesik Sr., 42, of 1700 I St., died Monday, Aug. 10, 1998, at Countryside Place, LaPorte, Ind.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, Ind. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, Ind.

He was a native of LaPorte, Ind., worked assembly with Black & Decker and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Surviving are sons, Richard Okrzesik Jr. of Junction City, Kan., Cory Okrzesik-Pratt of LaPorte, Ind.; daughters, Chelsie Boyce of Asheboro, Cathy Okrzesik of Decatur, Ala.; brothers, Joseph Okrzesik Jr. of Asheboro, Terry Okrzesik of LaPorte, Ind.; sisters, Marlene Tracy of Bradenton, Fla., Valerie Dewitt of LaPorte, Ind., Velvet Solomos of Hamlet, Ind.; two grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home prior to the service, 1:30 p.m. Friday.

Charlie Mason Ritter, 76, of 343 Foust St., Asheboro, died Tuesday, Aug. 11, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Jerry Garner officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of Moore County, a member and deacon of Freedom Independent Holiness Church and was retired from Ritter's Hauling & Grading Construction.

Surviving are wife, Grace Davis Ritter of the home; daughter, Darlene Marie Underwood of Eagle Springs; sister, Ettie Kennedy of Robbins; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.
