Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, with the Rev. Ronald W. Terry officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.

He was a native of Moore County, a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean conflict, a retired truck driver and an employee of J Bob Farms.

Surviving are wife, Josephine Stevens Willard of the home; daughter, Jackie Macon of Asheboro; sisters, Joanne Brewer of Asheboro, Betty Moore of Ramseur; two grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Friday.

LIBERTY - Treva Burgess Pugh, 88, of 3106 N.C. 49 North, died Wed-nesday, Oct. 8, 2003.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Holly's Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Mark Ainsworth, the Rev. Brad Dennis and the Rev. Delmar Scotton officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Christian Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Arnold Richardson and a retired employee of St. Joseph Hospital in Florida.

Surviving are husband, Fletcher F. Pugh of the home; daughters, Nancy Wilson of New Port Richy, Fla., Patricia Earnhardt of Archdale; stepdaughters, Hazel Deaton of Ramseur, Doris Ferguson of Lake Norman, Helen Kivett of Staley; stepsons, Earl F. Pugh of Liberty, Floyd Pugh of Staley; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 11 stepgrandchildren; 21 stepgreat-grandchildren; 10 stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Ramseur, 7-9 p.m. Friday, other times at the home.

PITTSBORO - Audrey Martha Oldham, 77, of 3170 U.S. 15-501 North, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at her home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Griffin Funeral Service, Pittsboro, with the Rev. Ray Gooch and Chaplain Jan Clark officiating. Burial will be in Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was a Chatham County native and a homemaker.

Surviving are husband, Edward Chapin Oldham; sons, Pierre Oldham of Asheboro and Gene Oldham of Pittsboro; sister, Emma Dell Ritter of High Point; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Irene S. Smith
DENTON - Irene Strader Smith, 97, of Mountain Vista Health Park, formerly of Glenn Street, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at Mountain Vista.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Denton Wesleyan Church, where she was the last charter member, with the Rev. Charles Moses officiating. Burial will be in Denton Town Cemetery.

She was a native of Rockingham County, the widow of W. Frank Smith Sr. and a homemaker.

Surviving are sons, W. Frank Smith Jr., Archie Smith and Richard Smith, all of Denton, Roger Smith of Asheboro; daughters, Peggy S. Briles of Archdale, Doloris S. Briles of Denton; 19 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Friday, other times at the home of Doloris Briles, 578 Mountain Shore Drive, Denton.

Sam Richardson
SUMMERFIELD - Vernon H. "Sam" Richardson, 82, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at Annie Penn Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Summerfield United Methodist Church, where he was a member. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

He was a Randolph County native, a member of Greensboro Super Seniors and the N.C. Retired Government Employees Association. He was a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard where he reached the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He graduated from the Medical College of South Carolina in 1952 and practiced pharmacy as a career. He was the widower of Mary S. Richardson.

Surviving is sister, Fran- cis T. Moore of Asheboro.

The family will be at Brooke Funeral Home, Stokesdale, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Lucille R. Doss
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. - Lucille R. Doss, 78, died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, at her home.

Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at Charlotte United Methodist Church Cemetery, Asheboro.

She was a native of Randolph County, a former president of N.C. Foster Parents Association, a seamstress and a former member of Alamance Lutheran Church in Burlington. She was involved with day care and foster care.

Surviving are daughters, Cecile Bibaud of Hilton Head Island, S.C., Connie James of Charlotte, Betsy Davis of Randleman; sons, Thomas Doss of Hilton Head Island, S.C., Gary Doss of Burlington; sisters, Lottie Davis of Archdale, Ellen Staley of Raleigh; five grandchildren.

The Island Funeral Home and Crematory, Hilton Head Island, S.C., is in charge of arrangements.

She was a native of Randolph County and the widow of W.L. "Pete" McPherson.

Henry M. Patton Jr.
GREENSBORO - Henry Max Patton Jr., 44, of 4300 Burns St., died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Country Holiness Cemetery, Randleman.

He was a native of Guilford County and an employee with Colfax Welding in Winston-Salem.

Surviving are wife, Betty Patton of the home; stepsons, Paul Lawson Jr. of Greensboro, Jimmy Lawson of Stoneville, William David Lawson of Stokes County; son, Dillon Michael Hopkins of the home; sisters, Debbie Henderson of Level Cross, Carol Moore and Tammy P. Phillips, both of Pleasant Garden; brother, Christopher Patton of Stokesdale; half brothers, Jody Case of Pleasant Garden, David Rocky Case of Greensboro; six grandchildren.

DENTON - Roscoe Jay Miller, 55, of Gallimore Road, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at Mountain Vista Health Park.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Sunday at Mountain View Memorial Gardens, with the Rev. Charles Moses and the Rev. Don Ledbetter officiating.

He was a native of Davidson County, owner/operator of an auto body repair shop and he attended Denton Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are wife, Stella Ledbetter Miller of the home; son, Charles Miller of Thomasville; daughters, Chassity Miller of the home, Brandy Miller of High Point, Sherry Miller of South Carolina; brothers, Tony Miller, Buddy Miller and Tommy Yates, all of Denton; sister, Sue DeBerry of Denton; two grandchildren.

ASHEBORO - Trent Jeremiah Brigman, infant son of Jeff and Sharon Gretchel Brigman of 839 Danwood St., Asheboro, died Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003, at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Surviving in addition to the parents are brothers, Jeffrey Brigman, Ty Brigman and Troy Brigman, all of the home.

Sadie H. Sizemore
LIBERTY - Sadie Hammer Sizemore, 97, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at Carol Lee Rest Home, Liberty.

Graveside service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Fairview Cemetery, with the Rev. Charles R. Bell Jr. officiating.

She was a native of Chatham County, the widow of Vance Sizemore, a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Liberty.

Surviving are daughter, Bernice Bridges of Liberty; sisters, Evie Phillips and Bessie Brown, both of Robbins; brother, Leroy Hammer of Goldston; one grandson; one great-granddaughter.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 1-3 p.m. Sunday, other times at the home of the daughter.

Nancy W. Greene
MT. GILEAD - Nancy Jane Williams Greene, 81, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2003, at North Carolina Lutheran Home, Albemarle.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at First Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Chris Cadenhead officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County and a retired employee of Mid-State Tile.

Surviving are sons, Michael E. Greene and John Keith Greene, both of Norwood; daughter, Brenda "B.J." Bennett of Salisbury; brother, Elwood Williams of Sumner, S.C.; stepbrothers, Don Smith and L.M. Smith, both of Mt. Gilead; sister, Jacqueline Morton of Albemarle; stepsisters, Phyllis Story and Vivian Whitlow, both of Mt. Gilead; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Moore County and a retired beautician.

He was a native of Pike County, Ky., an employee of the furniture manufacturing industry and of the Old Regular Baptist faith.

Surviving are mother, Anna Fraley of Lexington; brothers, Billy J. Fraley of Lexington, Chester L. Fraley of Thomasville; sister, Zetta Marie Fraley of Lexington.

CARTHAGE - David L. Presley, 50, formerly of Asheboro, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at Tara Plantation of Carthage.

He was a native of Carthage and a retired employee of Oliver Rubber Company in Asheboro.

Surviving are Diane Moorefield of Asheboro; son, D. Aaron Presley of Ramseur; mother, Myrtle Love Presley of Carthage; sisters, Brenda P. Hooker of Carthage, Karen P. Maness of Robbins; brothers, Thomas G, Presley Jr. of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Walter "Buddy" Presley and Warren Presley, both of Carthage, Steven R. Presley of Southport, Mark A. Anderson B. Brown
WINSTON-SALEM - Anderson Bryant Brown, 87, died Saturday, Oct. 11, 2003, at Forsyth Medical Center, Winston-Salem.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church, Asheboro, where he was a member. Graveside service will be 3 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery, Belmont.

He was a native of Belmont and educated there, the widower of Margaret Lowe Brown, a Sunday School teacher at his church and a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran. He was a radio journalist who was formerly employed at WGWR/WCSE in Asheboro and taught public speech at Randolph Community College. He was a volunteer in district and conference communication ministries in the Methodist Church of Western N.C., a past president of the Lions Club and The Salvation Army of Asheboro and a certified lay speaker. He received numerous awards from the N.C. Association of Broadcasters and the United Methodist Church and was a lecturer at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Journalism.

Surviving are son, Dr. Michael B. Brown of Winston-Salem; sisters, Ruth Badgett of Granite Quarry, Louise Watkins and Gertrude Medley, both of Gastonia; two grandsons.

The family will be at Vogler & Sons Funeral Home, Winston-Salem, 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

ASHEBORO - Thomas "Tom" Ashby Priest Sr., 70, of 5841 Pisgah Covered Bridge Road, Asheboro, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2003, at his home.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Randolph Memorial Park, with the Rev. Terry Kersey officiating and military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

He was a native of Culpeper, Va., a self-employed construction worker and a former security guard at Randolph Hospital. He was a U.S. Army veteran that served during the Korean War. He was of the Baptist faith and a member of the Moose Lodge in Culpeper, Va.

Surviving are wife, Joyce Edwards Priest, of the home; daughters, Tammy Priest of Henry, Va., Penelope Arhar of Bowie, Md.; sons, Thomas A. Priest Jr. of Asheboro, Ray Priest of Virginia Beach, Va.; stepdaughter, Annette Wingfield of Martinsville, Va.; stepsons, Wayne Wingfield Jr. of Martinsville, Va., Michael Kennedy of Asheboro; 10 grandchildren.

He was a native of Ninety-Six, S.C., and a retired employee of Myrick Construction Co.
