Funeral service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Staley Wesleyan Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. George Simmons and the Rev. Evon Pullium officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Christian Church cemetery.
He was a Randolph County native and assistant manager of the Quick & Easy.
Surviving are wife, Cornelia R. Brown of the home; son, Charles W. Brown of Ramseur; daughters Annette Langley of Staley and Teresa Parks of Ramseur; mother, Ruby W. Brown of Franklinville; brothers, David M. Brown of Maryville, Wash., and Thomas E. Brown of Franklinville; five grandchildren.

MT. GILEAD - Mary John Stutts, 79, died Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003, at Forrest Oakes Healthcare, Albemarle.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sharon Cemetery, Mt. Gilead, with the Rev. Jim Harris officiating.
She was a Richmond County native and a homemaker. She was a member of Mt. Gilead First United Methodist Church.
Surviving is sister, Margaret S. Hartsell of Mt. Gilead.

MT. GILEAD - Doris Tedder Crump, 87, died Sunday. Oct. 19, 2003.

She was a Montgomery County native and was retired from Russell-Harvelle Hosiery Mill. She was a member of Mt. Gilead First Baptist Church and the widow of Jack Crump.
Surviving are daughters, Becky C. Hearne and Betty C. Warner, both of Mt. Gilead; brothers, Walter Tedder and Albert Tedder, both of Charlotte, Jake Tedder of Winston-Salem and John Tedder of Mt. Gilead; sister, Rachel T. Ross of Fayetteville; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

VIENNA, Va. - Lawrence "Larry" Thomas Stout, 40, of 401 Wolftrap Road, Vienna, Va., died Saturday, Oct., 18, 2003, at Fairfax Hospital, Va.

He was a native of Vienna, Va.

CARTHAGE - Dr. A.E. "Buck" Underwood, 83, died Monday, Oct. 20, 2003, at his home.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Tom Herndon officiating. Burial will be in Cross Hill Cemetery.
He was the widower of Jayne Stone Underwood, a World War II U.S. Army veteran, a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a 1951 graduate of the University of Maryland with a dental degree. He retired after 44 years as a dentist in Carthage.
Surviving are daughters, Rose Mary Paschal of Charlotte, Paula Cagle of Carthage, Bonnie Strother of Fayetteville; sons, Dr. A.E. "Rocky" Underwood of Winston-Salem, Charles S. "Chuck" Underwood and Fess H. Underwood, both of Carthage; sister, Rose U. Fry of Southern Pines; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

She was a native of Guilford County and a homemaker.

He was a native of Caldwell County, a graduate of Hudson High School and the Winston-Salem Barber College and a self-employed barber.
