ASHEBORO - Betty Lou Bullard Hodge, 62, of 1324 Luck Road, Asheboro, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Tuesday at Spoons Chapel United Church of Christ, where she was a member, with the Rev. H. Warren Cassidy and the Rev. Larry W. McEntire officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a native of Wadesboro and retired from Bossong Hosiery after 25 years of service. She was the widow of Roy Allen Hodge.
Surviving are sisters, Clara Wilkerson and Peggy Bullard, both of Asheboro, Mary Caudle of Wadesboro; brothers, Charlie Bullard and J.W. Bullard, both of Asheboro.
The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Monday.
Betty S. Smith
PINEBLUFF - Betty Sutherland Smith, 67, of 263 Allen Lane, died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.
Graveside service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bennett Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Strider officiating.
She was a Chatham County native and a member of Bennett Baptist Church.
Surviving are husband, Teddy Smith of Pinebluff; son, Michael L. Benson of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; daughters, Anita Smith of the home, Amanda Smith of Southern Pines, Vickie Benson of Pinebluff and Eve Benson of Dekalb, Ill.; brother, Jackie Sutherland of Ramseur; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.
The family will be in the church fellowship hall following the service.

HIGH POINT - Thomas Franklin Sheets, 85, of 1301 Carolina St., died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2003, at High Point Regional Hospital.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Sechrest Chapel, East Lexington Avenue, High Point. Interment will be at Floral Garden Park Cemetery.
He was born April 3, 1918, in Gary, W.Va., the son of Lee Sheets and Cornelia Eller Sheets. He retired from Thomas Built Buses in March of 1984 after 40 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a mason. He was of the Christian faith. On April 20, 1946, he married Bertha Marie Woodie and she survives of the home.
Surviving, in addition to wife, are; daughters, Elaine Welborn and husband Steve of High Point, and Carol King of Liberty; son, Kenneth Sheets and wife DeChi of San Diego, Calif.; two sisters, Mary Kendell of Fort Royal, Va., and Maggie Wolf of Columbus, Ohio; brother, Lee Sheets Jr. of Kernersville; three grandchildren, Stephanie Kennedy, Jeremy Hartsell and Amy Abston; two great-grandchildren, Kaylin Kennedy and Shaina Kennedy.
Stella D. Beane
ASHEBORO - Stella Dunn Beane, 91, of 258 Beane St., Asheboro, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Ridge Christian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Monty Barker, the Rev. Danny Miller and the Rev. Jeff Stapleton officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a Montgomery County native and retired from Walker Shoe Co.
Surviving are sons, James Beane, William Beane and Joe Beane, all of Asheboro, and John Beane of Atlanta, Ga.; daughter, Elaine B. Craven of Asheboro; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren.

RANDLEMAN - T.M. "Tip" Hutson, 73, of 200 Oak Lane died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at UNC Hospitals, Chapel Hill.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
He was a Randolph County native and owner of Insul-Pads, Inc. He was a graduate of Asheboro High School and served in the National Guard. He was a member of the North American Hunting Club and served as co-chairman of the Business Advisory Council for the National Republican Congressional Committee. He was also a member of the "Write Your Congressman" Committee.
Surviving are daughter, Holly Dixon of Franklinville; stepdaughter, Cindy Brown of Robbins; son, Will Hutson of Pisgah; sisters, Iretta Wise and Virginia Poole, both of Asheboro; brother, E.A. Hutson of Seneca, S.C.; six grandchildren.

DENTON - Norma Coffey Hodges, 79, died Sunday, Nov. 9, 2003, at her home.
Memorial service is 2 p.m. Saturday at Zion Baptist Church, Morganton, where she was a member.
She was a Watauga County native and a homemaker. She was the widow of the Rev. Howard Thomas Hodges.
Surviving are daughters, Rebecca Parsons of Denton and Susan Bullard of Ft. Mill, S.C.; five grandchildren.

She was a Montgomery County native and an employee of Carthage Fabrics Co., Carthage.

SHALLOTTE - Henry Harrison Kidd, 82, of Pender Road S.W., died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at Brunswick Community Hospital.
Funeral service is 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Bruns-wick Funeral Service, Shallotte, with the Rev. David Stratton officiating. Burial will be in Brunswick Memorial Gardens.
He was a Chatham County native and a U.S. Army veteran. He was the widower of Helen Kidd.
Surviving are son, Harry Kidd of Asheboro; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

BENNETT - Artie M. Cox, 92, a resident of Clapp's Nursing Home, Asheboro, and formerly of Bennett, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Grove Christian Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Chris Wood and the Rev. Thurman Williams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a Randolph County native and retired from Weiman Furniture Co., Ramseur. She is the daughter of the late Beige and Mary Jones Cox and was also predeceased by brothers, Robert, Roy and Ray Cox.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

DENTON - Julia Loftin Hedrick, 94, of N.C. 47, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at her home.

She was a Randolph County native, a graduate of High Point College and a schoolteacher for 27 years, having taught at Wallburg and Silver Valley. She was a member of the young at Heart Rhythm Band and the Young at Heart Club. She was the widow of Harvey Monroe Hedrick.
Surviving are sons, Ethan Arnold Hedrick of Denton and Dale Frank Hedrick of China Grove; daughter, Margaret Hedrick Buie of High Point; sister, Betty Robbins of Denton; three grandchildren.

LIBERTY - Maude M. Glidewell, 95, formerly of Liberty, died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2003, at Wesley Long Nursing Center, Greensboro.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty.
She was a Stokes County native, but had lived in the Liberty area for many years. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Christian Church and a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elex Glidewell, an infant son and a daughter, Maureen Spencer.
Surviving are children, James Glidewell of Greensboro, Ralph Glidewell of Liberty and Bobby Glidewell of Low Gap; brother, Junior Mabe of Winston-Salem; sisters, Lily Miller of Haw River and Josie Lineberry of Mayodan; 13 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren.

BADIN - Roscoe Lee Bolton Jr., 83, formerly of Badin, died Monday, Nov. 10, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Badin Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Dan Abernathy and the Rev. Lee Bolton officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Rich Square.
He was born March 27, 1920, to Roscoe L. and Willie Lambertson Bolton in North Hampton County. He was a graduate of Rich Square High School and Wake Forest University. He was an employee of ALCOA in Badin, having also worked with ALCOA in Pittsburgh, Pa., Rockdale, Texas and Maryville, Tenn. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II, and a member of VFW. He was the widower of Mildred Venters Bolton.
Surviving are sons, the Rev. Roscoe L. Bolton III of Shelbyville, Ky., and David B. Bolton of Ponte Vedra, Fla.; daughters, Linda B. Medlin of Dunn and Barbara Ann Jones of Asheboro; brothers, Stafford Bolton of Richmond, Va., and Thomas Bolton of Fayetteville; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren. Sister Dorothy L. Bolton preceded him in death.
The family will be at the church 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, prior to the service.

He was a Randolph County native and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and retired from Riverside Country Club, Highfalls.
Surviving are daughter, Barbara Powers of Asheboro; son, Carlton E. Powers of Robbins, brothers, Russell Powers, Glenn Powers and Curtis E. Powers Jr., all of Bennett; two grandchildren.

He was a Stanly County native and an insurance sales person. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are wife, Janice Kay McSwain Lowder, of the home; son, Robert "Rick" Eric Lowder of Albemarle; mother, Mildred Ellenor Love Lowder of Albemarle; brother, Woodrow Darrell Lowder of Albemarle; sisters, Catherine Elaine Lowder Anderson of Houston, Texas, and Myra Ann Lowder Sfikas of Winston-Salem; stepdaughter, Amanda Efird West of Albemarle; stepson, Anthony Darrell Efird of Albemarle; two grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren.
