She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Pearl Hulin and a homemaker.
Surviving are son, LeRoy Hulin of Denton; daughter, Annie Ruth Williams of Salisbury; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

GOLDSTON - Rufus Kent Owens, 60, of 2319 S. Main St., died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at Chatham Hospital, Siler City.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Antioch Baptist Church, Goldston, where he was a member, with the Rev. David Hicks and the Rev. Bob Wachs officiating. Burial will be in Goldston Cemetery.
He was a native of Lee County and owner/operator of Rufus' Restaurant, Goldston.

CARTHAGE - Thelma Doby Freeman, 77, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at HCR Manor Care, Pinehurst.

She was a native of Richmond, Va., and the widow of James Rowland Freeman.

She was a native of Pharr, Texas, and a member of the Asheboro Spanish Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

He was a former Baptist pastor, a member of Pastor Care National Ministry, a member of Raleigh Area Pastors through Concerts of Prayer and a member of American Association of Christian Counselors, counseling pastors and churches in the Raleigh area.
Surviving are wife, Carol King Thomas; son, Mark Allen Thomas of St. Louis, Mo.; daughter, Sheri Dionne Thomas of Apex; sister, Darlene Mae Dillard of Apex; one grandson.

ALAMO, Texas - Harold Howard Redding, 85, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at his home.

He was a native of Liberty, the widower of Consuelo Redding, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and retired from the U.S. Department of Public Health.
Surviving are sons, Anthony Wayne Redding of Bismark, N.D., Thomas Arthur Redding of Weslaco, Texas, Timothy Peter Redding of Boise, Idaho; four grandchildren.

Allen H. Watkins Sr.
GREENSBORO - Allen Harrison Watkins, Sr., 97, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro.
Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. in Guilford Memorial Park.
Mr. Watkins was a member of West Market Street United Methodist Church. He graduated from Sewanee University and was an aviation enthusiast and a licensed pilot since 1923. He was a member of Sedgefield Country Club and member emeritus of Southern Seniors Golf Association. During his service in World War II, he was the Base Commander of Coastal Patrol Base #16 in Manteo. Mr. Watkins had a long career in the textile industry.
He is survived by his sons, John A. Watkins, Allen H. "Buddy" Watkins Jr., both of the Outer Banks, and David C. Watkins of Atlanta; his grandchildren, Stewart Forsbrand of PonteVidre, Fla., Hunter Watkins of New York and Kitty Watkins Sydnor of Greensboro; two great-grandchildren, Alexander and Margeaux Forsbrand, and his niece, Mary Spencer Ferchaud of Greensboro. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Adams Watkins in 1983.
Visitation will be held in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, Sedgefield Chapel, Greensboro, following the graveside service.
