DENTON - Margaret Williams Hulin, 80, of Mountain Vista Health Park, formerly of Fisher Ferry Street, Thomasville, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at Thomasville Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Pearl Hulin and a homemaker.

Surviving are son, LeRoy Hulin of Denton; daughter, Annie Ruth Williams of Salisbury; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, is in charge of arrangements.

Rufus K. Owens
GOLDSTON - Rufus Kent Owens, 60, of 2319 S. Main St., died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at Chatham Hospital, Siler City.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Antioch Baptist Church, Goldston, where he was a member, with the Rev. David Hicks and the Rev. Bob Wachs officiating. Burial will be in Goldston Cemetery.

He was a native of Lee County and owner/operator of Rufus' Restaurant, Goldston.

Surviving are wife, Jane Fields Owens of Goldston; daughter, Tammy O. Kirkman of Goldston; son, Keith Owens of Goldston; brothers, Paul Owens of Oreland, Pa., Robert Owens of Asheboro; sister, Louise Roberson of Pittsboro; one grandson.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 6-9 p.m. Saturday, other times at the home.

Thelma D. Freeman
CARTHAGE - Thelma Doby Freeman, 77, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at HCR Manor Care, Pinehurst.

A private burial will be in Cross Hill Cemetery.

She was a native of Richmond, Va., and the widow of James Rowland Freeman.

Surviving are daughters, Betty "Toot" Wilson and Shirley Hinton, both of Carthage; son, Norman "Smoke" Barber Jr. of Carthage; sisters, Vera Pope of Carthage, Mable Horne of Cameron; brother, Raymond Doby of Cameron; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, is in charge of arrangements.

ASHEBORO - Lydia Villareal Luna, 58, of 839 Hillcrest Circle, Asheboro, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 8 p.m. Monday at Randleman Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, with Elder Daniel Silva officiating. Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Oaklawn Cemetery.

She was a native of Pharr, Texas, and a member of the Asheboro Spanish Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Surviving are husband, Baudelio Luna Jr. of Asheboro; sons, Miqueas Luna of Asheboro, Noe Luna of Brooklyn, N.Y.; daughter, Linda Gonzalez of McAllen, Texas; brothers, Larry Villareal, Robert Villareal and Benjamin Villareal, all of Texas; sisters, Rosalinda Juarez and Bertha Burton, both of Pharr, Texas, Maria Leonor Cantu of Texas, Naomi Conrad of Burlington, Elizabeth Conley of California; three grandchildren.

BENNETT - Eula Mae Lambert, 82, formerly of Liberty Street, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Universal Health Care, Ramseur.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Jeff Moran officiating.

She was a native of Moore County and a retired weaver with Klopman Mills, Ramseur Plant. She attended Mt. Zion United Methodist Church.

Surviving are daughters, Carol Tuggle of Greensboro, Glenda Asbill of Asheboro; son, Kenneth Lambert of Greenville; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Joyce-Brady Funeral Home, Bennett, 6-8 p.m. Sunday.

ROCKINGHAM - Thomas Pemberton Jr., 69, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2003, at FirstHealth Richmond Memorial Hospital, Rockingham.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Mt. Airy AME Zion Church, Mt. Gilead.

Surviving are daughters, Jannette Shaw, Etrulia Hurst and Angela Pemberton, all of Mt. Vernon, N.Y.; son, Timothy Pemberton of Mt. Vernon, N.Y.; seven grandchildren.

He was a native of Chatham County and an employee of Ramtex.

DENTON - Clifford Madison Beane, 92, of Mountain Vista Health Park, formerly of Garner Road, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2003, at Mountain Vista.

Graveside service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Alvin Pope officiating.

He was a native of Davidson County, a member of Cid United Methodist Church and the retired owner and operator of Beane's Mower and Tractor Sales and Repairs.

Surviving are wife, Beatrice Lambeth Beane of Denton; sister, Juanita Blake of Denton.

The family will be at Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, 6:30-8 p.m. Monday.

Kelly K. Kellam
BISCOE - Kelly Kameron-Lee Kellam, 6, of 210 McCaskill St., died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Southside Baptist Church, with Dr. Bruce Dickerson officiating. Burial will be in Biscoe Cemetery.

He was a native of Montgomery County and a first-grade student at Star-Biscoe Elementary School, Star.

Surviving are parents, Kelly and Catherine Kellam of the home; sisters, Kimberly Kellam and Katelin Kellam, both of the home; grandparents, Lesley and Mary Sears Kellam of Biscoe, Homer and Velna Cheek Brady of Robbins.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Monday.

Allen L. Thomas
RALEIGH - Allen Leonard Thomas, 62, of 8024 Country Haven Lane, New Hill, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Western Wake Medical Center.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Crossroads Fellowship, Raleigh. Burial will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Randolph Memorial Park, Asheboro.

He was a former Baptist pastor, a member of Pastor Care National Ministry, a member of Raleigh Area Pastors through Concerts of Prayer and a member of American Association of Christian Counselors, counseling pastors and churches in the Raleigh area.

Surviving are wife, Carol King Thomas; son, Mark Allen Thomas of St. Louis, Mo.; daughter, Sheri Dionne Thomas of Apex; sister, Darlene Mae Dillard of Apex; one grandson.

The family will be at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, Raleigh, 7-9 p.m. Monday.

Harold H. Redding
ALAMO, Texas - Harold Howard Redding, 85, died Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2003, at his home.

Funeral service will 2 p.m. Tuesday at Bethany United Methodist Church, Franklinville, with the Rev. R. Curran Welch officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Liberty, the widower of Consuelo Redding, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and retired from the U.S. Department of Public Health.

Surviving are sons, Anthony Wayne Redding of Bismark, N.D., Thomas Arthur Redding of Weslaco, Texas, Timothy Peter Redding of Boise, Idaho; four grandchildren.

McCaleb Funeral Home, Weslaco, Texas, and Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, are in charge of arrangements.

Allen H. Watkins Sr.
GREENSBORO - Allen Harrison Watkins, Sr., 97, died Saturday, Dec. 6, 2003, at Wesley Long Hospital in Greensboro.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m. in Guilford Memorial Park.

Mr. Watkins was a member of West Market Street United Methodist Church. He graduated from Sewanee University and was an aviation enthusiast and a licensed pilot since 1923. He was a member of Sedgefield Country Club and member emeritus of Southern Seniors Golf Association. During his service in World War II, he was the Base Commander of Coastal Patrol Base #16 in Manteo. Mr. Watkins had a long career in the textile industry.

He is survived by his sons, John A. Watkins, Allen H. "Buddy" Watkins Jr., both of the Outer Banks, and David C. Watkins of Atlanta; his grandchildren, Stewart Forsbrand of PonteVidre, Fla., Hunter Watkins of New York and Kitty Watkins Sydnor of Greensboro; two great-grandchildren, Alexander and Margeaux Forsbrand, and his niece, Mary Spencer Ferchaud of Greensboro. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Elizabeth Adams Watkins in 1983.

Visitation will be held in the Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, Sedgefield Chapel, Greensboro, following the graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the N.C. Humane Society, 4527 W. Wendover Ave., Greensboro, NC 27409.

Earleane R. Cassidy
ASHEBORO - Earleane Mae Rush Cassidy, 73, of Brookstone Haven of Randleman, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Sardis United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County and a homemaker.

Surviving are brothers, Alton G. Rush of Randleman, Robert C. Rush of Cary, Benny W. Rush and William Rush, both of Asheboro, Donald Rush of Ramseur.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, noon-1 p.m. Wednesday.

Lee M. Steed
TRINITY - Lee Melton Steed, 75, of 3426 Alamo Drive, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at Thomasville Medical Center.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Cumby Funeral Service, Archdale, with Pastor David Mills officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Cemetery.

He was a native of Davidson County, a former employee of Oakdale Cotton Mill and he attended United Church of God in Asheboro.

Surviving are wife, Louise Leonard Steed of the home; sons, Robert Steed, Larry Wayne Steed and William Melton Steed, all of Trinity; daughters, Margaret Ann S. Lee of Edenton, Betty S. Rhodes and Linda S. Gray, both of Trinity; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-8.30 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

George R. Gray Sr.
SILER CITY - George Robert Gray Sr., 76, of 204 Stone St., died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, with the Rev. L.W. Conner and the Rev. Dan Neely officiating. Burial will be in Holly Spring Friends Meeting Cemetery.

He was a native of Randolph County and the manager of Gray's Bait and Tackle Shop and Game Room in Siler City.

Surviving are wife, Lela Mae Gray; sons, George Robert "Bob" Gray Jr., William Henry "Billy" Gray, both of Siler City, James Ronald "Buster" Gray of Coleridge; daughter, Betty M. Flowers of Siler City; 13 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

STAR - Terry Glenn "Moose" Jones, 43, of 127 Carrick Drive, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Falls Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Russell Chrisco officiating.

He was a native of Guilford County, an employee of Jones Roofing and a member of the Asheboro Moose Lodge.

Surviving are son, Mark Glenn Jones of Asheboro; daughters, Terry Lynn Jones of Florida, Candice Michelle Jones of Asheboro; mother, Virginia Jennings Jones of Asheboro; sister, Etta Bernice Welborn of Asheboro; brothers, Quincey Jones, Rickey Jones and Billy Farrell Jones, all of Asheboro.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, noon-1:30 p.m. Wed-nesday, other times at the home of Quincey Jones, 213 E. Bailey St., Asheboro.

GOLDSTON - Roy Malcom "Pud" Beal, 65, of 1948 Beal Road, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at Central Carolina Hospital, Sanford.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gyles Saunders and the Rev. David Hicks officiating. Burial will be in Gaines Grove Cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County, owner/operator of Goldston Grocery, a U.S. Army veteran and he attended Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

Surviving are wife, Brenda Gaines Beal of Goldston; daughter, Amy Wicker of Goldston; mother, Marie B. Brewer of Goldston; sisters, Emma B. Roth of Tampa, Fla., Raynell B. Hagan of Sanford, Hazel S. Brewer of Asheboro; brothers, Darrell Brewer and Danny Brewer, both of Goldston; three grandchildren.

CANDOR - John Wesley Craven, 80, of 326 Bowman Road, formerly of Biscoe, died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2003, at Pinehurst Healthcare & Rehab.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Page Memorial United Meth-odist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Jay W. Bissett and the Rev. Lacy V. Frye officiating. Burial will be in Biscoe Cemetery, Biscoe.

He was a native of Montgomery County and a retired textile worker.

Surviving are daughters, Shirley Lemonds and Debby Johnson, both of Biscoe, Kaye Bobbitt of Winston-Salem; brother, Paul E. Craven of Asheboro; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

Daisy B. Spruell
CARTHAGE - Daisy Barber Spruell, 64, of Cliff Top Road, died Monday, Dec. 8, 2003, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Lincoln Blanding, the Rev. Linwood Tuck, the Rev. Clem Williams and the Rev. Susan Brooks officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Moore County, the widow of Charlie Barber and George Spruell and a private duty nurse.

Surviving are daughters, Karen Goins of Monroe, Ga., Monica Person of the home; sons, Charlie Barber Jr. and Henry Barber, both of Carthage, Darryl Barber of Pinebluff; sister, Brenda Snow of Newark, N.J.; brothers, William Person of Detroit, Mich., Charles Williams of Charlotte, Billy Person of Carthage, Jackie Person of Robbins; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Fry & Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 7-8 p.m. Wed-nesday.
