RANDLEMAN - Ruth McCollum Shaw, 87, of 709 S. Main St., died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Randolph Hospital.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Kenneth L. Reaves officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.
She was a Randleman native, formerly employed with Burlington Industries and retired from Commonwealth Hosiery Mill.
Surviving are son, Forrest "Buck" Shaw Jr. of Asheboro; daughter, Ruth "Jane" Rutledge of Randleman; brothers, Jack McCollum and Joe McCollum, both of Randleman; four grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter.

RANDLEMAN - Evelyn Walton Cable, 74, of 313 Deerfield County Road, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital in Greensboro.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Friday at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, with the Rev. Marshall Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be in Centre Friends Meeting Cemetery.
She was a High Point native and a homemaker.
Surviving are husband, William Cable of Randleman; sons, William Billy Cable Jr. and Alan W. Cable, both of Randleman; daughters, Carol C. Gillenwater of Princeton, W.Va., Alice G. Cable of Greensboro; brothers, Donald Walton of Florida, Shirley Walton of High Point; sister, Ernestine Weiser of Welcome; five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

SEAGROVE - Ruby Brooks Sugg, 95, of 8010 Erect Road, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, at Cross Road Retirement Center, Asheboro.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Thursday at Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Fran Adams officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
She was a Randolph County native and a homemaker. She was a member of the United Methodist Women at her church and a member of Women's Home Demonstration. She was the widow of Clay Sugg.
Surviving are son, Jack Sugg of Erect; daughter, Nancy Auman of Terrell; sister, Golda Linthicum of Asheboro; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

He was a Montgomery County native and a charter member of both West Montgomery Lions Club and Uwharrie Volunteer Fire Department. He owned and operated Mullinix Grocery until his retirement.

He was a native of Montgomery County, a member of the United Church of God and an employee of the city of Hampton, Va., in the zoning department.

CARTHAGE - Thomas J. Mohan, 68, of 501 McReynolds St., died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

He was a native of Proctor, Vt., a graduate of North Carolina State University with a degree in horticulture and a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict period. He was a member of the Commemorative Air Force at the Moore County Airport, a former manager at Pinehurst R.V. Resort and of the Catholic faith.

He was a native of Randolph County, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, a retired plantation superintendent with Chevron Oil Co. in Hardeeville, S.C., and a retired plumber. He was a member of the Willing Workers Sunday School Class at his church, a former member of the water and soil conservation, a former game warden and a collector of and speaker on Civil War artifacts.
Surviving are wife, Emma Hill White of the home; daughter, Renee White of Trinity; brothers, Ray White, J.V. "Buck" White and Charles White, all of Archdale, Bobby White of Asheboro; sisters, Mary Lee Morgan, Doris Canter, Carol Hicks, Rachel Hunsucker, all of Archdale, Sarah Ann Earnhardt of Emerald Isle.
