He was a native of Randolph County and an employee with Tho-masville Interiors. He attended Asheboro High School and Victory Fellowship Church.

JULIAN - Joseph Henry "Joe" Frye, 86, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Wesley Long Community Hospital in Greensboro.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, with the Rev. Rowland Shepley and the Rev. Scott Baxley officiating. Burial will be in Gilmore Memorial Park.
He was a native of Guilford County, the widower of Martha Welker Frye, a farmer and an employee of Neese's Sausage Company and Blue Bell Central Shop.
Surviving is daughter, Margaret Blunt of Julian; sisters, Ada Bates of Ararat, Elizabeth Cain of Pinnacle, Estelle Childress of Danville, Va.; brother, George Frye of Asheboro.

He was a 1968 graduate of Franklin College with a degree in electrical engineering, an electrical engineer for Westinghouse and ABB, a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of Eagles of Anderson and Elk of Anderson, Ind.

He was a native of Davidson County, a retired job foreman with R.F. Shinn Contractors, Concord, a chairman of the deacons' board at his church and a U.S. Army veteran.

He was a native of Richmond County, the widower of Hattie Lee Dumas Thomas, a retired employee of McRae Shoe Factory and a member of Thomasville Baptist Church.

She was a native of Randolph County, a retired Randolph County dispatcher after 23 years, who was with the Sheriff's Department, the Asheboro City Police and the Randolph County 911 System. She also worked with Jennifer's Learning Center.
Surviving are husband, Jerry Hatley of Asheboro; son, Jerry Grady "Jay" Hatley Jr. of Asheboro; daughters, Krista H. Trotter and Jennifer H. Miller, both of Asheboro; brothers, Roger Clayton, Ronald Clayton, both of Asheboro; 10 grandchildren.

He was a native of Surry County, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a retired truck driver of Swaim Manufacturing, High Point, after 22 years.
