RANDLEMAN - Mary Sawyer Crotts, 95, of 1310 Hockett Dairy Road, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, at Clapp's Convalescent Nursing Home, Asheboro.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Randolph Memorial Park, with the Rev. Dwight Ayers officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of Albert Lee "Jack" Crotts, a homemaker and of the Primitive Baptist faith.

Surviving are daughter, Jacqueline Henley of Randleman; son, Lester L. Crotts of Randleman; sister, Martha Hill of Trinity; brother, Henry Sawyer of High Point; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Cumby Mortuary, Archdale, 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home of the son, 1312 Hockett Dairy Road, Randleman.

Charlie E. Myers

RANDLEMAN - Charlie Edward Myers, 62, of 1066 Worthville Road, died Tuesday, Aug. 18, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Worthville First Pentecostal Holiness Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Bill Baulding officiating.

He was a native of Pittsylvania, Va.

Surviving are wife, Marjorie DeGraw Myers of Randleman; brother, Irvining C. Myers of Richmond, Va.; sisters, Ruth C. Cottingham of Austin, Texas, Hester M. Shelton of Winston-Salem; stepdaughter, Tina Myers Elliott of Dryfork, Va.

The family will be at the church following the service.

Scott Funeral Home, Chatham, Va., is in charge of the arrangements.

LIBERTY - Mary Sue Dark, 78, formerly of Liberty, died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Fairview Cemetery, with the Rev. Gene Booker officiating.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and a retired employee of Carolina Power & Light of Troy.

Surviving is brother, Ernest C. Dark of Pfafftown.

GREENSBORO - Hubert "Nick" Roscoe Paige, 82, of 220 S. English St., died Monday, Aug. 17, 1998, at Starmount Villa Rehabilitation Center.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Gees Grove A.M.E. Church, with the Rev. Mattie Walden officiating.

Surviving are sisters, Lottie Mae Watson, Odessa R. Warren, both of Greensboro, Katherine Smith, Helen Morris, both of Philadelphia, Pa., Lillie Dell Bogan of Seaside, Calif.; brother, James C. Paige of Philadelphia, Pa.

Irene D. Maples

CARTHAGE - Irene Davis Maples, 71, of St. Joseph of the Pines Health Center, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Crossroads Community Church, with Evangelist David Bibey officiating. Burial will be in Cross Hill Cemetery.

She was a native of Hoke County, retired from sales with Stanley Home Products and had worked with Christmas Around the World.

Surviving are daughter, Ann Edwards of Whispering Pines; sons, Wilbur Lee Davis Jr., Ronnie Davis, both of Carthage, Kenny Davis of Germany, Tim Davis of Puerto Rico; sisters, Mable Maples of Williston, S.C., Geraldine Black of Vass, Carol Cox of Carthage, Janet King of Aberdeen; brother, Bobby Collier of Red Springs; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Fry-Prickett Funeral Home, Carthage, 7-8:30 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home of Lee Davis, Glen-Lee Acres, Carthage.

BISCOE - Dorthy Hogan Lynthacum, 84, of 106 Arthur Road, died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital.

Virginia L. Rabon

ALBEMARLE - Virginia Dare Lineberry Rabon, 79, of 24724 U.S. 52, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, at N.C. Lutheran Homes, Albemarle.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Albemarle Wesleyan Church, with the Rev. Ronald Thompson, the Rev. David Rollins and the Rev. Leon Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Simpson Cemetery, Albemarle.

She was a native of Stanly County, the widow of Joseph Franklin Rabon, was retired from Wiscassett Mills Company as a spinner and attended Albemarle Wesleyan Church.

Surviving are sons, Rev. Darrell Rabon of Asheboro, Joe G. Rabon of Mt. Pleasant, James A. Rabon, Donnie Rabon, both of Richfield, Rickey Rabon, Tony Rabon, both of Albemarle; daughters, Judy Weemhoff, Teresa Smith, both of Albemarle; sisters, Shirley Smith of Petersburg, Va., Cornelia Williams of Lancaster, S.C., Patsy L. Morgan, Zelma Hopkins, both of Albemarle; 11 grandchildren; eight grandchildren.

The family will be at Hartsell Funeral Home, Albemarle, 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at 903 Corbin St., Albemarle.

Gena L. Harris

Gena L. Harris, 71, of 828 Lee St., Asheboro, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, at his home.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. W. Russell Ward Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

He was a native of High Point, the widower of Dorothy Lee York, a U.S. Navy veteran and he opened the first of a four-store chain of jewelry stores in the early 1950s in Asheboro. He served as vicepresident of sales with Benrus Watch Co. from 1959-1971, vice president of sales and marketing with Waltham/Elgin Watch companies from 1971-1978 and as a consultant for Brendle's Inc. under his own company, G.L. Harris Marketing, until his retirement. He was a member of Southern Jewelry Travelers Association, the National Association of Catalogue Showroom Merchandisers, the California Jewelers Association and the American Management Association and was named in the 1980 "Who's Who in the Jewelry Industry" publication. He served as president of the Homeowners Association for Maisons Sur-Mer condominiums in Myrtle Beach, S.C,. and was one of the founders of Pinewood Country Club in Asheboro, where he was still a member.

Surviving are daughters, Barbara Winslow of Phoenix, Ore., Joan Harris of Asheboro; sons, David Harris of Roswell, Ga., Scott Harris of Asheboro; sister, Jewell Rowe Brennan of Greensboro; brother, Moyer L. Harris of Westerville, Ohio; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

Lewis T. Loflin Sr.

Lewis Tiffany Loflin Sr., 67, of 1845 Sewell Drive, Asheboro, died Friday, Aug. 21, 1998, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Shady Grove Christian Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Tracy Ritter and the Rev. Jimmy C. Shirlen officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Asheboro, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and retired from Hughes Furniture.

Surviving are wife, Josephine McPherson Loflin; daughter, Anita L. Falk of Asheboro; sons, James C. Loflin of Star, Hugh Wesley Loflin of Asheboro; stepsons, Steve McPherson of Franklinville, Phillip McPherson of Rockport, Texas; eight grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; one stepgreat-grandchild.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Saturday.

Blanche G. Hancock

Blanche Greene Hancock, 76, of 209 Asheville Road, Sylva, formerly of Seagrove, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, at Mountain Trace Nursing Center, Sylva.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Seagrove United Church of Christ, where she was a member, with the Rev. Kelly Shiflett and Gene Bumgarner officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a former cafeteria manager at Seagrove School for 25 years and a 4-H leader for 18 years.

Surviving are husband, Birchel Hancock; daughter, Janice Fouts of Sylva; son, Larry Hancock of Raleigh; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Asheboro, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

GREENSBORO - Barry Campbell, 50, died Wednesday, Aug. 19, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Faith Baptist Church, where he was a member. Burial will be in Lakeview Memorial Park.

He was a native of Guilford County, also a member at Southside Baptist Church and a volunteer with Big Brother.

Surviving are wife, Beverly Stanley Campbell of the home; stepdaughter, Rene'e Flint of Angier; stepsons, Glenn Reese of Sophia, Danny Reese of Greensboro; parents, Edgar and Elizabeth Campbell; sister, Gayle McCorkle of Climax; brother, Tony Campbell of Charlotte; grandmother, Frances Campbell; 10 grandchildren.

The family will be at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, Vanstory Chapel, Greensboro, 7-9 p.m. Friday.

He was a native of Johnston County, retired from Asheboro Coach and was a member of First Baptist Church of Franklinville.

Surviving are wife, Maxine Benson; sons, John Claude Benson Jr. of Louisburg, Danny Benson of Zebulon; daughters, Ann Stone, Jenny Radford, both of Louisburg; brother, Ray Benson of Clayton; sister, Eula Mae Stanley of Smithfield; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

DENTON - Sonny Dean "D.D." Lanier, 39, of Eastside Drive, was discovered dead Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998.

A graveside service will be 4 p.m. Tuesday at Tom's Creek Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Anne Mussleman officiating.

He was a native of Davidson County, attended First Methodist Church and was a retail furniture salesman.

Surviving are mother, Shirley Anderson Lanier of Denton; father, Bill M. Lanier of Kernersville; daughter, Lindsey L. Lanier of Denton; brothers, Gary Lanier, Doug Lanier, both of Denton; sister, Teresa Stevenson of Denton.

The family will be at the home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Monday.

Imogene F. Andrews

SILER CITY - Imogene Frazier Andrews, 80, of 1291 Harold Andrews Road, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1998, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at First Wesleyan Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Dennis Boone and the Rev. Ronald Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Bethlehem Wesleyan Church Cemetery, Snow Camp.

She was a member of the Women's Bible Class at her church and a homemaker.

Surviving are son, Darrell Andrews of Siler City; daughters, Clarice "Pat" Harris of Siler City, Doris Russell of Pittsboro; brother, Kermit Frazier of Ramseur; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
