Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Pleasant View Friends Church, with the Rev. Don Luellen and the Rev. Marvin Taylor officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a native of Jacksonville, Fla., a U.S. Army veteran and an employee of Lane's Painting in Robbins.
Surviving are mother, Helen Maness Morgan of Robbins; stepfather, Eugene Morgan of Robbins; brother, Danny Shockley of Robbins; stepbrothers, Daniel Morgan and Ronnie Morgan, both of Robbins; sisters, Cheryl Rush and Lynn Shockley, both of Robbins; stepsister, Kim Stuart of Star; grandmother, Beulah K. Maness of Robbins.
The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home of his mother, 5077 N.C. 705, Robbins.
Carson O. Wiggins Jr.
PITTSBORO - Carson Olin "Lin" Wiggins Jr., 49, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2004, at FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital, Troy.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Pittsboro Baptist Church, with the Rev. George W. Johnson officiating. A second service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Salem United Methodist Church, Haw River, with the Rev. Doug Lain officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery in Haw River.
He was a native of Gaston County, a 1972 honors graduate of Southern Alamance High School and a 1976 graduate of North Carolina State University with a B.S. in engineering. He was a professional engineer and held licenses with both the North and South Carolina Boards of Inspection. He was former superintendent of Bridges of North Carolina in the 14-county area based in Siler City and the Unit Head for Bridge Maintenance and Inspection for the N.C. Department of Transportation. He attended Pittsboro Baptist Church.
Surviving are wife, Amy Moore Wiggins of the home; son, Bryan Wiggins of Lakeville, Minn.; daughters, Karlie Wiggins of the home, Kady Wiggins of Lakeville, Minn.; parents, the Rev. Carson and Moeine Wiggins of Haw River; brother, Steve Wiggins of Kansas City, Mo.; sisters, Deborah Furbish, Renee Lawing and Joy Wiggins, all of Raleigh, Lisa Wiggins of Clemmons.
The family will be at Griffin Funeral Service and Cremation, Pittsboro, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and at Salem United Methodist Church, Haw River, following the service on Thursday afternoon.

ASHEBORO - Betty Dixon Bowman Brown, 71, of 700 Arbordale Ave., High Point, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at the home of her daughter, Rose Prenatt.
A private service will be held.
She was a long-time resident of High Point, attended High Point University and later graduated from Randolph Community College.
Surviving are daughters, Heather Renegar of Winston-Salem, Rose Prenatt of Asheboro; son, Ralph Milas "Shawn" Brown; brother, Worth B. "Buzzy" Bowman of Wilmington; six grandchildren.
The family will be at the homes of her daughters, Heather Renegar, 2619 Reynolds Drive, Winston-Salem; and Rose Prenatt, 949 S. Park St., Asheboro.

ASHEBORO - Raymond Eugene Poole, 75, of 567 Newbern Ave., Asheboro, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Saturday at New Union United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Jean Nall officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He was a Randolph County native and a graduate of Farmer High School. He was formerly employed with Coffin & Scarboro Shoe Store and was retired from Sara Lee Knit Products. He was a member and past secretary of the Adult Men's Sunday School Class at his church.
Surviving are wife, Betty Burkhart Poole; son, Alvin Poole of Asheboro; daughter, Karen Rice of Gastonia; brother, Bobby Poole of Asheboro; sisters, Rosie Luther of Jacksonville, Fla., Linda Millikan of Level Cross, Artie Phillips of Asheboro; two grandchildren.

Surviving are daughter, Rebecca Davis of Bowie, Md.; sister, Polly Phillips of Trenton, N.J.

He was a Montgomery County native and a cabinet maker.

ROBBINS - Johnny Coy McNeill, 61, of 840 Hemp St. Ext., died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Duke Medical Center, Durham.
Funeral service is 3 p.m. Sunday at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, with the Rev. James Stalnaker and the Rev. Ernest Ferrell officiating. Burial will be in Pine Rest Cemetery, Robbins.
He was a Moore County native, a member of Tabernacle Methodist Church, a Vietnam War veteran and a quality control supervisor with Riley Paving Company. He retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation after 35 years of service and was a member of Woodmen of the World.
Surviving are wife, Willa Hunsucker McNeill, of the home; daughter, Tanya McNeill, of the home; sister, Nancy Nelson of Winston-Salem.

She was a native of Montgomery County, the widow of Carl Lee "Dooner" Dennis Jr., a member of First Baptist Church and a retired employee of C&R Drugs after 33 years.

A Mass will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Boca Raton, Fla., where she was a member.
She was a 1941 graduate of DuBois High School in DuBois, Pa., a former employee with DuBois Hospital, Penn Traffic and Shakespeare in DuBois, Pa., and with Boca Humane Society, Mission Bay and Quality Swimming in Boca Raton, Fla.
Surviving are daughters, Lelia Fortuna of New Castle, Pa., Linda Wilson of Houston, Texas, Laura Carter of Bradenton, Fla.; sons, Kip Schroder of Asheboro, Patrick Schroder of Columbus, Texas; sister, Jacquline Rose Kohlhepp; brother, Robert Benjamin Callahan; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.

Ethel H. Hedgpeth
SANFORD - Ethel Hall Hedgpeth, 89, of 801 Pinehurst Ave., Carthage, died Thursday, Jan. 22, 2004, at Pinelake Health Care & Rehab Center, Carthage.
Mrs. Hedgpeth was born in Bladen County, daughter of the late Albert Pritchard Hall and Mary Ella Smith Hall. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hubert S. Hedgpeth and by a grandson, Marcus Cole. She was a graduate of Grays Creek High School and Campbell College. She was a member of Flat Springs Baptist Church where she was an officer of W.M.U., a Sunday School teacher and the church librarian. She was a retired librarian at Deep River High School and a long-time resident of the Deep River Community.
Funeral service is 2 p.m. Saturday at Flat Springs Baptist Church, with the Rev. Del Parkerson and the Rev. Bewey Shaver officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home, Sanford, Friday from 6-8 p.m. and in the Flat Springs Baptist Church fellowship hall following the service; other times at the home of Russ and Linda Hunt, 1418 Zion Church Road, Sanford.

ASHEBORO - Lewis Henry Goss, 77, of 1226 Northside Terrace, Asheboro, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 2004, at Mariner Health Care.
Funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Ferree's Chapel United Meth-odist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Shirley Donnell and the Rev. Cornelius Holland officiating. Burial will be in Harshaw Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, Randleman.
He was a native of Alamance County, a member of the trustee board, the United Methodist Men and the Usher Board, and a treasurer and a custodian at his church. He was a member of the Farmer Community choir, a former coach of the men's baseball team and the women's softball team of Randolph County and a former player of the Randolph/Braves baseball team. He was a retired employee of Union Carbide.
Surviving are wife, Bertha McCain Goss of the home; sons, Edward McCain of Archdale, Dr. Dennis McCain of Tacoma, Wash., Dwight McCain of Asheboro; daughters, Wanda Gaines of Randleman, Brenda C. Goss, Christina Goss-Mungin, LexaGoss, all of Asheboro; brothers, Arthur Goss, the Rev. Ronald Goss, both of Randleman, Austin Goss of Stockbridge, Ga.; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
