ASHEBORO - Mary Ruth Beck Segers, 74, of SunBridge Nursing Home, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Randolph Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at J.C. Green & Sons Funeral Home, Thomasville, with the Rev. Bruce McLanahan officiating. Burial will be in Holly Hill Memorial Park Cemetery.

She was a native of Davidson County, the widow of Wilton Jackson Segers, an employee of Silver Knitt Hosiery Mill and a member of Shiloh Baptist Church In Ramseur.

Surviving are daughters, Brenda Sue Williams of Thomasville, Marrion Yvonne Rummage of Lexington, Nancy Ruth Caveness of Asheboro; sister, Frances Dougan of Lexington; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of a granddaughter, 115 Ridgeway Drive, Thomasville.

Benjamin J. Sanfilippo
DENTON - Benjamin Joseph Sanfilippo, 26, of South Main Street Ext., died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, in Lexington, as a result of injuries received in an automobile accident.

Memorial service will be held at a later date.

He was a native of Sidney Center, N.Y., and a truck driver.

Surviving are mother, Donna Schust of Denton; stepfather, Terry Dow of Willow Springs; grandmother, Caroline Schust of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; sister, Diane Sanfilippo of Denton.

Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, is in charge of arrangements.

Ted L. Shaw
DENTON - Ted Leonard Shaw, 44, of Shaw-Reeder Road, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at Randolph Hospital.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at New Hope United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Faron Overton and Scott Shaw officiating.

He was a native of Davidson County and previously worked with heating and air conditioner repair and installation service.

Surviving are wife, Lisa Poole Shaw of the home; mother, Doris Shaw of Asheboro; sons, Kevin Shaw and Donnie Shaw, both of Denton; daughters, Denise Elrod and Stephanie Shaw, both of Denton; brothers, Jimmy Shaw and Ricky Shaw, both of Asheboro, Scott Shaw of Troy; three grandchildren.

The family will be at the home.

Briggs Funeral Home, Denton, is in charge of arrangements.

Myrtle Hall
TROY - Myrtle Hall, 93, of 1723 Ophir Road, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Autumn Care of Biscoe.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ophir United Methodist Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Glenn Hancock officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was a native of Montgomery County and a homemaker.

The family will be at Pugh-Troy Funeral Home, Troy, 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Thelma L. Carroll
KERNERSVILLE - Thelma Lucille Lanier Carroll, 84, died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at Westchester Manor, High Point.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Shady Grove Wesleyan Church. Burial will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Asheboro.

She was a native of Hickory Grove, S.C., the widow of Rev. C.E. Carroll and a retired employee of Cannon Industry.

Surviving are daughters, Evelyn Andrews and Edith Davison, both of Thomasville, Carolyn Shaw of Asheboro, Nancy Mills of Kernersville, Mary Ellen Carroll; son, Jerry Carroll of Asheboro; sisters, Pauline Adkins of Rock Hill, S.C., Sarah McDowell and Betty Adams, both of York, S.C.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home, Kernersville, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Donnie Ellis
SILER CITY - Henry Donald "Donnie" Ellis, 51, of 351 Petty Road, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Chatham Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at White Cross Baptist Church, Staley, with the Rev. Edward Brown officiating. Burial will be in Chatham Memorial Park, Siler City.

He was a native of Chatham County, he attended White Cross Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Sunday School class, and he was an employee at MasterCraft Fabrics.

Surviving are wife, Patricia Brady Ellis of Siler City; daughters, Dana E. Berry of Siler City, Donna G. Ellis of Pittsboro; father, Bobby E. Ellis of Moncure; sisters, Cherie Sumner and Vicki Klomparens, both of Pittsboro; brother, Kennie Ellis of Sanford; one granddaughter.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

Joseph L. Griffin
SILER CITY - Joseph Lon Griffin, 34, of 317 N. Dogwood Ave., died Monday, Feb. 2, 2004, at Chatham Hospital.

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, where he was a member, with the Rev. Jim Wall officiating.

He was a native of Chatham County, a member of the Young Adult Sunday School class, a 1987 graduate of Jordan Matthews High School, a 1993 graduate of Elon University and a paramedic with FirstHealth.

Surviving are father, Bub Griffin of Siler City; stepmother, Jackie Tanner Griffin of Siler City; mother and stepfather, Ada Lynn Andrews Rutledge and Steve Rutledge of Clovis, Calif.; stepbrothers, Andrew Rutledge, Stephen Rutledge, Tommy Griffin of Siler City; stepsister, Jaclyn Griffin of Siler City; stepgrandparents, Jack and Maurice Tanner of Siler City.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 6:30-830 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Bub and Jackie Griffin, 902 Driftwood Drive, Siler City.

BISCOE - David Eugene Seifried, 51, of Bensalem Church Road, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

He was a native of Highland, Ill., a U.S. Marines veteran and an electrician.

Surviving are wife, Sherry Robinson Seifried of the home; son, Gene Seifried of the home; parents, Kenneth and Venita Korte Seifried of Highland, Ill.; sisters, Kathy VonRohr, Pat Steiner, Chris O'Dell and Mary Perkins, all of Illinois; brother, Keith Seifried of Raleigh; one grandchild.

The family will be at Briggs-Candor Funeral Home, Candor, 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

CARTHAGE - Michael Lee Freeman, 2, of 589 Mt. Carmel Road, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Guiding Light Baptist Church, near Robbins, with the Rev. Clyde Allen officiating. Burial will be in Morven Cemetery, Morven.

Surviving are parents, Daniel and Rebecca Rod-gers Freeman of Carthage; brothers, Jonathan Rodgers, Aaron Mabry and Devin Mabry, all of the home; grandparents, Johnnie and Marie Rodgers of Wadesboro, Shirlie Moore Davis of Star; great-grandparents, Essie H. Moore of Asheboro, John B. Rodgers of Wadesboro.

The family will be at Kennedy Funeral Home, Robbins, 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home.

Dallas S. Ring Jr.
COLFAX - Dallas Spencer Ring Jr., 70, died Sunday, Feb. 1, 2004, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Christ United Methodist Church, where he was a member, with Dr. Glenn L. Myers Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon United Meth-odist Church Cemetery.

He was a native of High Point, a graduate of High Point College with a business degree and a former employee of Integon Insurance, Winston-Salem.

Surviving are wife, Evelyn Redding Ring of the home; daughters, Cindy R. Ruble of Indonesia, Beverly R. Sizer of Greensboro; brother, Roland Mintz Ring of Hickory; two grandchildren.

The family will be at the church 10 a.m. Thursday.

MERRITT ISLAND, Fla. - James Worth "Jim" Ferguson, 70, of 140 N. Tropical Trail, Lot 3, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2004, at Mission Hospital, Asheville.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Ray Swaney officiating. Burial will be in South Plainfield Friends Meeting Cemetery, with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard.

He was a native of Randolph County, a retired upholstery worker and a former employee of Smithy's AAA Upholstery, Merritt Island, Fla., and Betty's ABC Upholstery, Cocoa, Fla., and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

Surviving are daughter, Annette Townsend of Apple Valley, Minn.; son, David Ferguson of Fair-view; sisters, Grace Gunter, Dorothy Miller, both of Ran-dleman, Pearl McDowell of Asheboro, Mary Swaney of Lexington; brother, Leroy Ferguson of Randleman; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Grace Gunter, 238 S. Main St., Apt. 4, Randleman.

JoNita G. Hardee
ASHEBORO - JoNita Gore Hardee, 75, of 640 Hemlock Drive, Asheboro, died Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, where she was a member, with Dr. John S. Rogers and Dr. James B. Gibson officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Conway, S.C., where she was a former schoolteacher, a seamstress, cook and co-owner of Melvin Variety Store in Randleman and a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Surviving are husband, Berkley G. "Buck" Hardee Sr.; son, Berkley G. "Butch" Hardee Jr. of Asheboro; daughters, Marsha Robson of Seabrook Island, S.C., Dianne Hoffman of Raleigh, Jori Jones of Pleasant Garden; brother, Alton Gore of Loris, S.C.; sister, Bernice Carmona of Garner; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

She was a native of Randolph County, of the Methodist faith, a beautician and a retired employee of Bossong Hosiery.

Surviving are daughter, Diane Farlow-Luck of Asheboro; sister, Lola Jennings of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.

The family will be at the funeral home 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home of her daughter, 2912 Hickory Drive, Asheboro.

She was a native of Chatham County, the widow of Joseph Crutchfield, a homemaker and of the Methodist faith.

Surviving are daughter, Teresa C. Lowe of Trinity; son, Joseph S. "Joey" Crutchfield of Siler City; brother, the Rev. Womack Keck of Badin; sister, Daisy K. Gorczyca of Woodsboro, Md.; five grand- children.

Tracy J. Talley
GOLDSTON - Tracy John Talley, 73, of 2370 N.C. 42, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at his home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. Gyles Saunders and the Rev. Buck Frye officiating. Burial will be in Carbonton United Methodist Church Cem-etery.

He was a native of Chatham County, the widower of Joan Light Talley, a retired truck driver for Ferrell Gas and a member of Carbonton United Methodist Church.

Surviving are son, Johnny Talley of Denton; daughters, Gwen T. Mc-Lambe of Broadway, Brenda T. Gaines of Goldston; brother, Bill Talley of Goldston; sisters, Jean T. Miller of Sanford, Helen T. Ellis of Greenville, S.C.; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Lucille G. Craven
FRANKLINVILLE - Lucille Greeson Craven, 86, of 2934 Cedar Falls Road, Franklinville, died Wed-nesday, Jan. 21, 2004, at Randolph Hospital.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Loflin Funeral Home Chapel in Ramseur, with the Rev. Bob Dowling officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a Guilford County native, a retired employee of Hancock Ham and a member of Frank-linville United Methodist Church.

Surviving are son, William R. Craven Jr. of Ramseur; grandsons, William "Butch" Craven III of Franklinville and Jon W. Craven of Greensboro; great-grandchildren, Caylea E. Craven and Spencer R. Craven, both of Franklinville, and Xander W. Craven of Greensboro.

The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at Loflin Funeral Home in Ramseur, other times at the residence.
