RANDLEMAN - JoAnna Marie Brown Comer, 41, of 1214 Inwood View Drive, Sophia, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at South Plainfield Friends Meeting, with the Rev. Paul Wyatt officiating. Burial will be in Randolph Memorial Park.

She was a native of Randolph County.

Surviving are daughters, Melissa Long Luck of Sophia, Sherry Stephens of Asheboro; parents, Luther and JoAnna Brown of Sophia; brother, Luther "Gene" Brown of Farmer; two grandchildren.

The family will be at Pugh Funeral Home, Randleman, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Josephine P. Wilson

LIBERTY - Josephine Smith Patterson Wilson, 77, of 718 S. Fayetteville St., died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, at N.C. Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Fairview Cemetery, with the Rev. Bryan Fox and the Rev. William Bigham officiating.

She was a native of Randolph County, the widow of J.H. "Jack" Patterson and J. Boyce Wilson Sr., a local merchant for 30 years, co-owner of Jack's Meats and Groceries and a member of First United Methodist Church and the Wesley Bible Class.

Surviving are son, Shelly Patterson of Liberty; sister, Mozelle Holt of Greensboro; stepdaughter, Ann Leonard of Siler City; stepson, Julian Wilson of South Carolina; one granddaughter; three great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Loflin Funeral Home, Liberty, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Kim Hall, 731 S. Fayetteville St., Liberty.

Gertrude B. Osborne

GREENSBORO - Gertrude Brown Osborne, 95, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998, at Pell Care Nursing Center, Winston-Salem.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Community Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

She was the widow of Roy W. Osborne.

Surviving are sisters, Barbara Bullin of Greensboro, Susan Coltrane of Archdale; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.

The family will be at Hanes-Lineberry, Funeral Home, Vanstory Chapel, Greensboro, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, other times at the home of Susan Coltrane.

GREENSBORO - Madge Brown Johnson, 94, of Friends Homes, Guilford, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998, at her home.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hanes-Lineberry, North Elm St., Greensboro. Burial will be in Reidlawn Cemetery, Reidsville.

She was a native of Ramseur, the widow of Paul Johnson, a former employee of Will's Book Store and a member of Christ United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.

Fleta M. Foy

PLEASANT GARDEN - Fleta McGee Foy, 71, of 416-C E. Steeplechase Drive, died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998, at Guilford Health Care Center.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Garden Baptist Church, where she was a member. Burial will be in Pleasant Garden United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She was a native of Guilford County, the widow of Grady Kellam, retired from Thomasville Furniture Company and a member of Hope Sunday School class at her church.

Surviving are husband, James Henry Foy of the home; sons, Freddie Kellam of the home, Eddie Kellam of Climax, Teddie Kellam of Pleasant Garden; daughter, Bonnie Marchisotto of Greensboro; stepdaughters, Barbara Vaden of Pleasant Garden, Junie Poe of Franklinville, Sandra Clark of Greensboro; stepsons, Tommy Foy of Randleman, Jerry Foy of High Rock; sister, Mary Kindley of Pleasant Garden; brothers, James McGee, Bill McGee, both of Pleasant Garden; 12 grandchildren; 10 stepgrandchildren; 18 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Marvin D. Murray Sr.

GRAHAM - Marvin Denson Murray Sr., 78, of 4655 Coggins Road, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital, Greensboro.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bennett Baptist Church, Bennett, where he was a member, with the Rev. Tim Strider and the Rev. Larry Janey officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

He was a native of Chatham County, retired from Triangle Paving Company, where he was a truck driver for 26 years, a World War II U.S. Army veteran and a member of American Legion Post 81.

Surviving are sons, Johnny Murray, Denny Murray, both of Graham, Tim Murray of Mebane; daughter, Sondra Hammer of Asheboro; mother, Thelma S. Murray of Winston-Salem; stepdaughters, Shirley Highfill of Baltimore, Md., Lou Ann Mosack of Charlotte; stepson, Billy Highfill of Charlotte; sisters, Louise Garner of Rural Hall, Annie Belle Brady of McLeansville; 12 grandchildren; one great-grandchild.

SILER CITY - Omblean Curtis Cockman, 83, of 1427 Stage Coach Road, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, at Sunrise Care Facilities, Siler City.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Wesleyan Church, where she was a member, with the Rev. Dennis Boone, the Rev. Don Richardson and the Rev. Billy Joe Brady officiating. Burial will be in Loves Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

She was employed with Hadley-Peoples Mfg. and the widow of George H. "Buck" Cockman.

Surviving are daughters, Linda C. Johnson, Rebecca S. Cockman, both of Siler City, Deborah C. Martin of Gulf; sons, Billy E. Cockman of Medford, Ore., Ronald V. Cockman of Siler City, George David Cockman of Bear Creek; brother, W.M. Curtis of Lake View; 21 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Smith & Buckner Funeral Home, Siler City, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday.

Willie Jack McNeill, 76, of 4481 N.C. 42 South, Asheboro, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Union Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Terry Beaver officiating.

He was a native of Randolph County and a member of Bethel Church of God.

Surviving are wife, Annie McNeill of the home; daughters, Carol Hollar of Hickory, Clarice Lamb of Asheboro, Joyce Morton of Troy, Sarah Nicodemus of Seagrove; sons, Bill McNeill, Willis McNeill, both of Seagrove; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

The family will be at Phillips Funeral Home, Star, 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, other times at 7636 Union Grove Church Road, Seagrove.

Louella B. Hammond

Louella Lee Bane Hammond of 6056 Old N.C. 49, Asheboro, died Monday, Oct. 12, 1998, at Randolph Hospital.

A graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Farmer United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Jasper Boyd, the Rev. Harold Hammond and Worth Hatley officiating.

She was a native of Lincoln County, an artist, an art collector and a homemaker. She was a graduate of Farmer High School and later worked to save the school after it had closed, and worked to save the Dunbar Bridge.

Surviving are husband, R. Keith "Buck" Hammond of the home; daughters, Candace Wells Hammond of Roiatin Bay Island, Honduras, Pandora Bane Willingham of Wasilla, Alaska; sister, Glen Moore of Little Rock, Ark.; two grandchildren.

The family will be at the home 6-8 p.m. Thursday and Friday.

Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, is in charge of the arrangements.

SOPHIA - Richard Newman Lewis, 48, of 3178 Sharon Acres Drive, died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 1998, at High Point Regional Hospital.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Ridge Funeral Home, Asheboro, with the Rev. Luther Crady officiating.

He was a native of Raleigh County, W.Va., and retired from Decater Wire Die South.

Surviving are daughter, Pageant Lynn Lucas of Asheboro; father, Jack Beckelhimer of the home; stepmother, Mildred Lewis of Baltimore, Md.; sisters, Diane Dunn of Randleman, Rhonda Saunders of Baltimore, Md.; brother, George Lewis Jr. of Baltimore, Md.

The family will be at the funeral home 7-9 p.m. Thursday, other times at the home.

Kelvin M. Isley

RAMSEUR - Kelvin M. Isley of 176 N. Brady St., died Sunday, Oct. 11, 1998.

Funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Friday at Oakland Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Surviving are wife, Tara Staley Isley of the home; daughters, Alyssa Isley, Alexis Isley, both of the home; parents, David and Linda Andrews Isley of Ramseur; sister, Bridgett Silver of Ramseur; brother, Raynard Isley of Monroe; grandmothers, Daisy Andrews of Ramseur, Myrtle Kimes of Liberty.

She was a native of Montgomery County, the widow of W.N. "Jack" Upchurch and a retired therapist with St. Joseph of the Pines Hospital, Southern Pines.

Surviving are daughters, Delores U. Brady of Raeford, Patricia U. Williams of Eagle Springs, Connie U. Sessoms of Wilson; sons, Jerry Upchurch of Asheboro, Darrell Upchurch, Jackie Upchurch, Tommy Upchurch, all of Highfalls, Freddie Upchurch of Robbins; sister, Mae S. McGough of Hampton, Va.; brother, Lacy Smith of Fayetteville; 21 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.

He was a native of Davidson County, the widower of Ruth Miller Eller, a retired employee of the City of High Point after 33 years and a member of Hilltop Baptist Church.

Surviving are sons, John Wesley Eller Jr., Mark Steven Eller, both of Asheboro, Thomas Clyde Eller of Port Arthur, Texas; sisters, Grace Kimble of High Point, Inez Palmer of Morganton, Frances Edwards of Sophia; brothers, Isaac Eller of Greensboro, Richard Eller, Woody Chriscoe, both of High Point; fiancˇ, Jackie Mashburn; one granddaughter.

She was a native of Rockingham County and the widow of Gayle Woodrow Campbell.

Surviving are daughter, Carol Harvey of Taylors, S.C.; two grandchildren.

She was a native of Asheboro, a member of St. John's Methodist Church in Norway, S.C., and the widow of Leo M. Cox.

Surviving are sister, Hilda Wright of Asheboro; one granddaughter; one great-grandson.
